"At one point in time, we were all in a big room with candles everywhere. We were held in cages at the back of the room while some were at the center of the big place. There were many people in cloaks, and they were singing this song but in a creepy way."
"I could only see them singing for a bit before the doctors blindfolded me. Then I heard some cries and more singing. I had Midori with me, so she covered my ears most of the time," explained Nasima.
Duncan and Circe sighed as they explained the truth to Baldwin and Raiyen.
"Ten chosen kids were being picked out by some cult that was singing that folk song. All kids had been rounded up to be picked as the 'Chosen Ones' to revive some being called the 'God Of War.' Nasima was only a few years old when that happened, so she can't remember the full details."
"When the Chosen Ones were picked, they were being drugged and strapped onto a table in the middle of that room, Nasima mentioned. There were pregnant women at the site as well, but..."
Circe halted her recount to direct instructions to Amani.
"Amani, please cover Nasima's ears."
Amani did so, and Nasima got confused for a moment.
"The cult used the pregnant women's blood to draw the ritual circle while the Chosen Ones on the tables were electrocuted. The circle drawn had ten points in it, which marked the placing of the ten children's heads. In the end, the cult couldn't revive the 'God Of War'."
"But they certainly succeeded in making my stomach churn for the worse. I can say it with a straight face because I've seen more gruesome deaths, but the cult one is the most insane thing I've ever had to see. There's no purpose of it at all, and they shrugged it off like it was nothing."
"That's when I realized we were worth nothing in those adults' eyes. And I stopped being fearful about everything I saw and sealed my emotions and judgments away. Until Lady Roydon gave me that pie to eat, I began to feel something. But to sum everything up, that cult was brutal."
Duncan's recount of the cult's events was quite alarming for Baldwin to hear, and Bryan felt pity for the boy to have seen such atrocities. Duncan was probably that kid in the village that kept to himself while living in the shadows, witnessing the horrors of humanity.
"I have a feeling that I know of this cult, and it's about time that we head for a mission to find them. I'll explain the details later with you, Bryan. After Midori and Mavislin finish their brawl and Rina continues with the teaching session," explained Tomoe.
And speaking of Midori and Mavislin battling, a massive influx of power was coming from the bottom of the pit.
"First Seed: Strike Of Terra!" yelled Midori, launching from her position and towards Mavislin.
"Terra: Shield Of Mountains," chanted Mavislin as she made a spiral out of the whip in her hand.
The whip instantly turned into a round shield made of rocks while Midori landed a heavy blow to the shield using her twin swords. Mavislin smiled as it reminded her of how she dueled with Raiyen.
The times when the Valkyrie was testing out how to use a shield against Raiyen's twin blades. But dueling Midori was a whole different ball game as the young girl didn't have too much physical endurance to power the strike for long.
But that child had the power to perform several different spells in a row due to the abundance of Elemental Energy within her. As Mavislin tried to push Midori back with the shield, Midori instantly allowed her two blades to be broken.
A bright flash of green light appeared from the two blades, breaking and hindering Valkyrie's vision. Since she knew she was at a disadvantage without her sight, Mavislin backed away from the clash. Midori stood tall with a complete change of outfits and weapons as the light subsided.
A single sword had replaced her short blades with a golden handle and pommel. The hilt was rounded, and the entire weapon looked oversized when Midori wielded it. As for her outfit, Midori had been wearing a pink summer dress with a black outer coat.
The dress was covered in armor pieces, and Midori was donning on gauntlets and metal boots. Mavislin squinted her eyes at the little girl as she noticed Midori's tail and ears growing bigger. Then, Mavislin laughed as Midori launched another attack.
"Well now... I haven't had this much fun for a long time! I'm so glad we had a chance to fight like this," said Mavislin, pulling up her whip in time to clash with Midori's new blade.
