Sparks flew as the clash prolonged, and Mavislin was ready to unleash another Earth Elemental attack. However, Midori heard the sound of Mavislin's joints moving and acted in conformity. Midori slammed her right leg into the ground in front of her, forcing Mavislin back.
This sudden change halted Mavislin's next move, and Midori found a great way to input her next attack. The single blade in the child's hands glowed once more as Elemental Energy swirled around Midori and her weapon. Suddenly, five flower bulbs appeared on Midori's sword.
Mavislin tried to prevent the bulbs from blooming, but a shock wave threw her whip away.
"Fifth Seed: Pentagonian Flora!" yelled Midori, as she channeled her Elemental Energy into the spell.
The bulbs blossomed and exploded one after the other. Finally, Mavislin released her whip and jumped out of the explosive range, avoiding the spell entirely. But the Valkyrie had a feeling that Midori was coming up something else as she looked at the wreckage below.
True enough, when Mavislin looked straight ahead, she was met with Midori's flurry of attacks. The Valkyrie quickly dived to the ground to get her whip and was ready to counter Midori's quick attacks. But unfortunately, the child was faster than most of the Mages she had trained.
Maybe Midori was genuinely ready to be in the Pillars without the training. But the Valkyrie quickly dashed that hope away. Long ago, Mavislin thought that being a Valkyrie would earn her the respect that she wanted in this world.
But she quickly learned that this world didn't understand the power level of creatures who can wield Magecraft. And when Mavislin asked Z to train her, the Valkyrie realized how weak she was compared to the rest of the members of the Congregation.
Z could quickly destroy and slap away most of her offensive and defensive spells. There wasn't a need to mention her healing powers since it was almost non-existent. It was one year of hellish training. Non-stop fight after fights in every terrain Z could think of at the time.
Because of that, Galaxian Mage, Mavislin fight underwater and in a volcano if she needs to. That training made Mavislin realize how much you could find out about a person just by dueling with them. Thus, Mavislin read Midori like an open book every time they clashed.
The Valkyrie knew that the sound would be Midori's aspect and used erratic movements and attacks to get the child off course. However, since Midori uses patterns to predict her enemies' next course of action, Mavislin couldn't fool the child regarding the body's movements.
Thus, the two could clash with each other constantly, meeting at the same position at the right time. Furthermore, no one was faster than the other, which was great to test Midori's endurance. Finally, after a massive crash in midair, Midori and Mavislin were back on the same level on the playing field.
Noting that Midori had messed up by giving space between them, Mavislin instantly jumped on the chance to release an attack.
"Terra: Tremours of the Mountains," chanted Mavislin when her whip shook with power.
The Valkyrie retracted her whip back to strike with great force at Midori, with intricate turns and twists as she moved the whip in many directions. The dirt would give way to each point that the whip hit the ground, making the entire battlefield shake like crazy.
The child was standing there as she focused on the sound of whip twisting and turning. There was no tune or melody for this spell, so Midori knew she had to pull off the best trick in her memory. And that was to bait the enemy.
Midori had a grin on her face when she purposely allowed the whip's end to curl around her blade. Mavislin sensed something was wrong and quickly retracted her whip before it could tighten around the sword. But it was too late.
Midori took in a deep breath and changed her blade's position.
"Ninth Seed: Dance Of The Nine Flutters Of Humming Birds!" shouted Midori, with her eyes flying open.
Everyone, including Mavislin, was shocked at how fast the child closed the distance between her and her opponent. Midori's body danced while her blade slashed up the whip in an extravagant display of glaring green lights. The child's footing and movements were all in a single breath!
Mavislin could hardly comprehend what was happening as Midori prepared to lay the final slash of the spell right at the Valkyrie, but something called out in the child's head.
"Please stop; you'll die if you make the final cut now," said a voice within Midori's mind.
That wasn't Duncan... It was a female's voice.
"Your lungs are too young to perform the last strike. Please back down now. Or else you will die," repeated the voice.
