"What about the children? Will we still have the yummy meals that Clement makes for us every day?" asked Midori, tugging on Mavislin's dress.
"Yes, Midori has got the point. Clement, I've hired you as the children's chef and guardian if we weren't around to take care of them. And it's only been barely a week since you've taken up a job... So you're telling me you want to leave your post now?" questioned Mavislin.
"I'm not quitting my job as a chef, and I was hoping to be of use for the mission, Lady Roydon. I didn't mean for you to hear my request that way," replied Clement, bowing down to the Valkyrie.
"Clement, you're facing against a Mage and old foe. You barely came out of that ordeal, clinging to your life and hurrying away to another Domain. Do you still want to play your life on the line to get closure to a one-sided battle?"
Clement's eyes widened as Mavislin spoke the truth. That's right; the man he was marching up to was a Mage. According to the Founders, the Rapid Dog was a high-level threat to them. What makes the chef think, no... What makes a human think they can stand up to a monster?
"Maybe some other time, Chef Clement. Come now, don't be too upset. We'll have plenty of chances to travel to the Teuton Domain. As for now, let's switch back to the topic and targets on hand. Although, it is interesting to know Mavislin's had a target as well," said Baldwin.
The Head Knight glanced at the Valkyrie with suspicion.
"That's right! How could you have a target when you were the only one who joined later? We monitored your activity and purposely kept you in the Old Chapel for such a long time. We made sure the Old Man Pond could never find you," asked Ysabeau, standing up.
"Oi... Easy now, High Queen. I'm sure our little Valkyrie has a good explanation," said Z, trying to calm Ysabeau's nerves.
The Valkyrie took a closer look at the target aimed at her. Midori glanced at the profile and shivered as she recognized the face but not the hair and eye color. Midori felt Mordred stir up within her mind and threatened to come out. But Mavislin placed a gentle hand on the girl's head.
"I would say this is far from the rest of the profiles, but it is who it is. She was the famed King Of Kights, the Promised King Of Briton... Better known as King Arthur Pendragon, son of Uther Pendragon. Mordred's father and enemy. Everyone knows that she was dead."
"And everyone knows that the Knight Of Rebellion killed the famous King. However, the weapon used to kill the King was a weapon called 'Clarent.' I gave that sword to Mordred as a gift and to see the poor kid get revenge," explained Mavislin, closing her eyes.
"You had a hand in King Arthur's demise?! What are you talking about?!" yelled Baldwin, flabbergasted at Mavislin's confession.
"To be quite frank, I touched down to Earth way before going for the tryouts. I didn't just land and sign myself up for the Congregation. Instead, I spent some time wandering around the Five Domains. I changed forms so other Mages won't find my identity out."
"Like I've hinted to Midori during our duel, I met Mordred as a young child during one of my travels. I decided to stay with her since she was mostly alone. So we played together, and her mother convinced her to join the Round Table to get closer to her birth father."
"When the King refused to see Mordred as the true heir to the throne, Mordred got angry and led a revolt against the King. I didn't see or understand why the King never wanted Mordred, so, as a friend, I hated the King and joined revolt with Mordred. I took Avalon away."
"Right before the main and final battle of Camlann. And before stealing the scabbard away, I created the Red Lightning Sword called Clarent and gave it to Mordred to aid the battle. I'd knew both would fall, but I didn't realize someone else had intruded on the battlefield."
"It was my first time seeing the Congregation in action as they tried to stop the battle, but there was one particular Mage that caught my attention. The Mage that acted in service to the King, Merlin. Upon further investigating, I found Merlin working under the Congregation."
"That Mage was known to be a practitioner of all Elements but particularly more on the Element of Dreams and illusion. And his go-to Element is the Flower Element as well. Unfortunately, like many other Mages, Merlin cannot age. But he isn't the target here... That person is," explained Mavislin.
