The Ark Of He Meets The Empress

"Oh! I was so engrossed in looking at the devastation of this place that I'd forgotten to introduce ourselves. So forgive me for my rudeness. I am a being called the Valkyrie, and I am their Empress. These are my heirs, also known as my children. My true name is Mabellisa De Roydon."

"It is a pleasure to meet you, and do not worry for the little girl beside you. I will make sure she doesn't beat you," introduced the Empress, bowing down to the Ankou.

"Ah, don't worry about me. I am this world's idea of a soul collector of sorts. I am the personification of Death itself. The people here on this planet called me the Grim Reaper. But I am neither alive nor dead, so killing or eating me won't be a viable option. But as for now..."

The Ankou guiltily looked at the corpses strewn about the area.

"I will probably disappear if the Gods have seen what I have done. What a pity... Since I did want to continue my job as a soul collector for the many years to come. For the record, I wasn't supposed to kill or tamper with the humans' lives, so I'm in deep trouble now."

"But it was too nice to have a civil conversation with another person. It's been so long since someone spoke to me. All I wanted was to speak with someone and not have them flee when they saw me... But even then, I'm denied such small things," explained the Reaper.

After hearing his sorrowful confession, the baby girl about to dig into her lunch looked at the Ankou with pity. She then stood up and ran towards the Reaper's legs and hugged it, making the being jump.

"Don't be sad..." murmured Mavislin.

She then pointed to the corpse beside her.

"I can share my lunch with you!" smiled the happy baby Valkyrie.

"No need to, little one. I do not require food to survive."

Baby Mavislin got confused and ran towards the corpse to stab her tiny hands into the severed head. She then pulled out the eyeballs and rushed to hand one to the Ankou. Duncan couldn't help but stray even further from the scene.

"Try one! It's the nicest part of the body! So yummy... Fill my tummy!' cheered Mavislin as she offered an eyeball to the Ankou.

The Reaper, who didn't want to make a child cry despite all that had happened, carefully gripped the squishy organ from the child. When he looked back, the Reaper saw that Mavislin was chewing happily on the eyeball and was preparing to eat a severed arm that she held by her side.

"We may look humans but do not think of us as such. We are known as the Gods Of War, and I've been sent here because numerous conflicts were going around. But before that command, this world was labeled as 'Peaceful,' according to the Council."

"From our sources, this place should have been safe enough for my children to take refuge if anything happened to me. Unfortunately, however, it would seem that it is not the case. Oh well, at least my baby can have her lunch over here. And I can rest here as well."

"Being a mother and leading a war is not a simple task as I thought... I wondered how my mother juggled raising me and waging war," said the Empress, carefully setting herself onto the rocky ground while still carrying the baby boy.

Then, the Ankou mustered up the strength to eat the eyeball and found it quite lovely to the tongue. However, the taste wasn't an option since the Grim Reaper bore no taste buds. The Reaper then sat beside the little girl while facing the tired Empress.

Mavislin was happily ganwing on an arm while procceeding with the next limb. Her mother shook her head in disbelief and wiped the little girl's face.

"Earlier, you said that I've impressed you... I had never had anyone praise me for such things before, and I did not know how to feel after that. Plus, I'm conflicted about what I should do now," confessed the Ankou with his silver-haired fringe covering his eyes.

"Ah, I see... So you are a being devoid of emotions, and you need help to find them! Such an interesting thing... Let's see now. Amongst my people, to be praised by my words will elicit feelings of pride and happiness since I am at the top of the food chain of my homeworld."

"However, it varies when it comes to otherworldly beings that I meet. Some looked disgusted, while others were happy. I've even got some who were afraid despite praising their glorious victory in battle; I never knew or understood why they had such a negative reaction."
