The Slayer was slightly freaked out about this new thing but had to comply since Ashley is in charge now. So Bryan did as he was told, and he could feel his hand getting heavy while streams of Valokian light came out from the walls behind him.
"As the First Seat Slayer of the Barren Pillars, I activate thee, O' Emblem Of the Arks! Unleash the protection I need under the Authority of Valokian Might!" called out Bryan as the emblem of the Pillars glowed in bright gold.
The emblem popped out of the Slayer's hand, expanding into a sizeable holographic shield to defend against the few flames from both girls. The arena trembled considerably as Tomoe hopped into the pit to aid Bryan in preventing the children from killing themselves.
"May the flames be higher than the Sun itself. With the rising phoenix and dragon's breath, I hereby condone the needed chains to lock onto the power I shall summon to the battlegrounds. Witness... For my breath, the true meaning of a Kitsune of the Flames is the Sun itself," chanted Tomoe.
The Kitsune drew out his katana as he plummeted down into the pit and in front of the shocked Slayer. Upon landing, Tomoe quickly stood up and lifted his katana above his head.
"Extra Sun: Protection Of Amaterasu!" called out Tomoe as he drew a circle of flames in front of him using his sword.
A vast blue flamed disc appeared to cover both men as the two children shouted their attacks.
"Excalibur Galatine: Sword of Revolving Victory!" yelled Midori, swinging her inferno sword at Circe.
"Ursa Major; Seven Heaven Calamity!" shouted Circe as the above strike went downwards to Midori.
The constellation of the Big Bear flashed in the sky, but it was faint since it was in the afternoon. Then, six giant blazing arrows rained down onto the fox child. As for the poor Mages in the pit, Bryan felt rather hot with all the flaming attacks.
The arena enlarged itself to house both spells clashing each other. Midori held onto her swinging stance while Circe used her bow to defend against the scorching sword. Both attacks weren't drawing blood, but it was starting to affect the audience on top.
"Lynx Eyes: Triad Starlight; Beyond the Universe's Boundaries!" called Ashley as he fired three shots in front of him and the kids.
Duncan quickly protected Nasima by summoning the Ankou's gear onto his body while the small girl hugged Duncan's leg tightly. When Duncan laid eyes on Ashley's upgraded shield, he was amazed at how beautiful it was... But, wait, since when did he find things attractive?
"Oi! I summoned you to help me not get distracted by the Marksman Pillar's shield! Besides, that thing was the same as before, only with more sparkles. What are you, three years old?! Focus, man!" commanded Duncan as he tried to shake off the Ankou's opinions of beauty.
"Aw... I like how the shield shines so brightly like the stars... Besides, you should pay closer attention to the guards' details since they depict Valokia's emblems of the capital Kingdom of Arcadia. But, of course, that would mean Ashley is using Mavislin's power."
"Yea... The man came out of Euphoria, a place only created by Mavislin using the spells of Valokia's Heaven's Wheel. It doesn't take a genius to figure that one out."
"No, but it'll take another Valkyrie to shatter that shield, so why are you calling me for help?! You're safe, so you don't need me!"
"What happens if there's the aftermath and it passes the shield? Then how am I supposed to defend myself?!"
"Use your skills as a Dementor; you've got the basics like your twin, so don't call me when I'm sleeping!"
"Honestly, you are so lazy for someone that needs to reap souls, like Santa but for dead people... I only used you a few times, and you are snoring away like a baby... What kind of spirit did I summon?!"
The Ankou and Duncan's relationship is that they think the same way. They are prone to have mini arguments but not to the extent of endangering each others' lives. Duncan's movements are guided by the Ankou's teachings, while Duncan's thoughts intrigue the Reaper.
The Reaper only came to help the poor boy to laugh at how the boy saw the world. Not cruelly but in a different way from the other souls. This boy's vision was shrouded in darkness, and he didn't want to step out in the light. So even after giving him a chance, Duncan turned his back.
The two males' bond was utterly different from Midori and Mordred, who had different views on combat. This problem would cause a rift between the two girls, making Midori's body unstable and allowing Mordred to gain complete control.
