Mordred instantly relaxed as she remembered looking through Midori's vision of begging the Mages to fix her brother. The words, 'Please don't let him die, he's all I have left...' echoed throughout Mordred's head and would haunt her dreams forever.
How could Mordred forget those few words of agony and the blurred vision since Midori had been crying the whole time? The Knight Of Rebellion sighed as Midori stopped strangling Mordred. The Knight gingerly pried the child off her shoulders and held the child in front of her.
Without saying another word, Mordred pulled the young girl into her chest and hugged her tightly while smoothing out Midori's hair.
"Sometimes, I forget that you are just a kid... And you have only been learning about the outside world for the past few days. So I like to know if you are okay with going through with this..." asked Mordred, dropping her usual hostile voice to her soft tone of a gentle Knight.
"Going through with what?" asked the confused fox child.
"With partaking in such a dangerous task... I don't know what the battlefield will give us when we set foot into the ring. I don't know if I can protect you from all harms from the enemies, so if you have doubts, you better sound out right now so I can retract my-"
"Did you regret destroying the kingdom of Camelot?" interrupted Midori, forcing herself not to look at Mordred.
"Huh?" was all the Knight could muster upon the random question.
"Did you regret killing your father? And wrecking his kingdom even though you helped to build it?"
"No, I didn't regret any of my actions, nor will I turn back time to redo my choices. I did what was right from my standpoint because he refused to give me the throne. The King could not listen to his people, so they shall bring him down."
"He refused to look me in the eye, so I shall force him to his knees. Even though he killed me, I landed the fatal blow and ended King Arthur's reign for all eternity. Now, the King has risen back, and it's time for me to do my duty of killing him again."
"However, if you wish not to join me, I will not do so. I am not you, so I can't influence your decisions. After all, this body is yours and not mine. If you do not wish to participate in the fight, then I will walk away from this room," replied Mordred, still carrying the small child in her arms.
"Then I will not go back on my decision. I aim to fight alongside Mother Mav and protect all the little brothers and sisters in the Morning Glory Home."
"Alright then, it's your call..."
"No, it's OUR call. We made a promise, right?"
Finally, Mordred clicked her tongue in annoyance as she slapped the Reaper's hand away and walked to a nearby chair. The Ankou sighed as he apologized to the Headmaster and Mavislin.
"Not to worry, since I understand why you are angry, I would think of both of you as weak compared to the seasoned Mages. Because, even if you are legendary warriors from the past, you are still stuck in a child's body," explained Gillian.
"Yea, but we know how to..."
"What happens if you are forced to take a wound? What happens if you forget that you are controlling a child? Remember, a small wound for a seasoned fighter can be deadly for a child that has yet to experience the battlefield," said the Headmaster, cutting off Mordred's reply.
"Combatants. Warriors. Fighters. Gladiators. When they touch the war zone, they only bring their weaponry and skills, not innocent lives. You are dragging a child's life into the Jaws of war. Are you going to be responsible for that?"
"You may think you might be the strongest, but no one can ever see the future even if they have Clairvoyance because so many things may alter the outcome. So take a step back to think... Is participating in this battle worth the risk, given the children's circumstances?"
"Not long ago, they were brink of death and starvation. Now, you are dragging them to meet their maker. Do you not care for them?" spat the Headmaster as his Elemental Aura surrounded his figure.
Bryan was ready to speak for the children, while Rina wanted to summon her weapon. However, with the Headmaster's powers being activated, the Magecraft in the room were wholly nullified, so no one could attack unless it were physical.
The Valkyrie and Time Mage showed no concern as they watched the Headmaster harshly interrogating the twins. Ashley and Tomoe continued to look at the map while ignoring the heated argument. Ignorance is bliss in the gentlemen's textbooks.
