Seeing that the kick won't move the Knight, Bryan instantly leaped out of the closed distance and focused on using his blades. Then, after a hideous sound of cracking his jawbone back to place, Gawain sprang back into action.
Finally, after Tocks of clashing and saying nothing, Gawain broke the silence by forcing Bryan to hold down a clash.
"Ah... I am ashamed to have felt so angry at your face... I thought I was fighting against an old comrade of mine. But your movements and skills are nothing like the person you are reminding me of," said Gawain.
"Uhm... I've got no clue what to say upon hearing that I looked like a dead person... But I hope I didn't exceed your expectations of me as a warrior."
"You have continued to exceed my expectations as a combatant... There are only a handful of people strong enough to clash blades with me for this long and stop my charging blade with a single hand."
"And those few people were part of the Round Table, so you have my respect from this point onwards," Gawain said as he pushed forward.
"I don't know how strong the people of your time were, but I would assume they were weak... When you've seen the people who trained me, my physical strength is not much."
"So save your praises for a better opponent because I'm the last person deserving of your compliments," replied Bryan, still holding that gaze of emptiness.
"I see... It would appear that the people of this time have grown stronger and more capable. But I still stand my point for complimenting your way of battle with those eyes of yours... I am Sir Gawain, the Knight of the Sun."
"I served King Arthur of Camelot during my prime in the prestigious Knights of the Round Table. Will you do me the honor of telling me your name and title? As well as the person who trained you because I'd like to meet that mentor."
"Are you sure? You might freak out if you know who had trained me in the ways of the blade..."
"I'm quite familiar with mystical beings and Magecraft, so even if you said the Greek Hero Chiron was your mentor, I wouldn't be surprised."
"Well then, that makes it easier for me. I am the First Seat Slayer Verna of the Barren Pillars. My service is dedicated to the Empress's daughter of Valokia, Mavislin Roydon. And my mentor is a Kitsune named Tomoe," said Bryan, showing his emblem.
"So that's the case... Even fate can be so cruel to those who have already passed on... Why must I cross paths with that Valkyrie again? How ironically hurtful for me to be revived only to face that monster again..."
"The creature that wreaked havoc in Camelot, looking from above as our beautiful kingdom crumbled into ruins...
"If I have to cross paths with beast again, I will make sure to finish the job this time!" roared Gawain as he stomped his foot forward and created a powerful shock wave to push away the Slayer.
Bryan flipped back to ensure he wasn't kissing the ground and quickly went back into battle with his scythes, ready for another wave of attacks. But the Knight of the Sun merely stood there without moving from his place as he seemed lost in his thoughts.
"I know your group has relations with my boss, but why do you seem to hate her so much? Because from what I could discern from your history and legends, Mordred and Agravain ran rampant in your kingdom and initiated a rebellion. The Valkyrie did no such thing."
"And Mavislin did not tell of meeting or fight with you, so what's your problem with her?" questioned Bryan seeing that Gawain was getting angrier by the Tick.
"You don't understand anything about that Valkyrie and how far she would go to reach her goals. If it hadn't been for that Valkyrie's dabbling, her Magecraft, Lancelot wouldn't have fallen in love with the Queen! And then... My best friend wouldn't have been exiled..."
"He wouldn't have killed my brothers... The King wouldn't have fallen!" yelled Gawain, clutching his sword tightly.
Bryan blinked a few times before sighing. He could feel anger boiling up his nose at the Knight's assumption of the Valkyrie. But then, he recalled Mavislin's advice about not getting swayed by the enemy's statements. Bryan wished that he had the patience of Gillian when fighting this lunatic.
"Listen, man... I think you've got the wrong idea about the Valkyrie I work for... First, it was never anyone else's fault but Lancelot for killing your brothers. Even Mordred hated that philandering older man for killing his best friends, so Lancelot deserves all the hate he can get."
