"There's no way you are sitting up after that attack... I don't think you can even use your legs at this point. And if you do, I'll hack your limbs off with a dull blade. You are my prisoner now," demanded Mavislin as she gently stroked his white hair with her claw.
Galahad swallowed a ball of saliva as he felt Mavislin's low growl. The Valkyrie flipped the next Tick as she backed off.
"Can I at least ask about the fall of Camelot?" squeaked the Knight as his hands fumbled.
"Inner conflict between the Knights of the Round Table and King Arthur. There were many faults, but the main one would be that the people were divided into two factions, and both fought for nine days. The Battle of Camlann."
"But if it weren't for Lancelot's affair or Tristan's cursed last words, the rebellion would have never started in the first place."
"What do you mean? So many things led to the end of our homeland. And now, the King was revived and wants to bring us back together to create another Camelot? I'm so confused..."
"Why would you want to redo the whole ordeal when so many died in the conflict?" quizzed Galahad, trying to find a solution to his impossible question.
"I have got a hunch, but it might not be true..." answered Mavislin as she looked away.
"I'd like to know, please."
"Whoever revived the King has a special power to consolidate a person's regrets and sorrows. Usually, that belongs to Mages who can reanimate the dead since the power would cause dead people to come to life again. Hence, it is called the Element of Reanimation."
"You mean Necromancers? Yes, I've heard of them... I've known one, but I can't remember much about him."
"These Mages have the Skill called 'Regret.' When used alone, the Skill only causes the target to feel the emotion of Regret. However, the results are different if used with the Element of Reanimation."
"Wait... So what you are saying is that the unknown Mage used this Skill of Regret to bring the King back to life? Using his regrets? Is that the reason why the King seems so off?"
"Yes, in simple terms. It's a little more complicated on our side since reviving a person isn't as easy as you might think. But you got the idea correct. And why do you say that something was off with the King?"
"When I was summoned, I was forced to obey the King's commands and take in prisoners of the nearby brothel. I thought he meant the Flower Girls, but the King wanted men. Especially those that wanted to take advantage of girls. We then used the dolls as a distraction and got our men."
"But the King never allowed us to see what happens to the prisoners. When we questioned him, the King said they were being sent to 'change their ways. We didn't say anything else since he blasted Gawain across the room after the Knight of the Sun asked too many questions."
"So the King still has you all in his iron grip... Maybe it's for the best since you Knights need proper motivation to continue following his commands. From the intel we have gathered and the fact that the King has some connection to Fabian Brookes..."
"It's not hard to discern what happened to those men. I pray they had a quick death," replied the Valkyrie, sighing while Galahad raised an eyebrow.
"I hope that they are alive. And who is that person you've mentioned? I don't recall anyone having that name and being near the King..."
The Valkyrie glanced at Galahad with terror and disbelief in her eyes. Wait, was the Knights functioning away from Fabian?
"How can you not know the person? Your King is working for him since the doll you possess is Fabian's work."
"I was honest when I said I had no clue who Fabian is... The Knights never mentioned him, nor did the King. So, he is the person who created those dolls that are wreaking havoc now? Is he the one that revived the King as well?"
"I can't confirm as of yet, but it should be true. Right now, I am trying to take your King down to get information on Fabian's whereabouts and army so we can destroy him for good."
"What did that man do? Is he Mage as well or another reanimated corpse?"
"To summarize, Fabian Brookes was a Mage I saved years ago. I can't remember how or why, but I just did. I recall the person's face but not his voice nor powers until these incidents. I still don't have a solid understanding of his Element, but I know one thing; he is a dangerous Mage."
