The Ark Of At A Lake

"Look out below!" yelled Midori as the twins crashed into the bushes.

Duncan said nothing as he rolled out of the sea of thorns while Midori was screaming at how awful the landing was.

"Quit whining before the enemy finds us," Duncan replied as he dusted the thorns off his pants.

"Is that the Ankou speaking or Duncan?" questioned Midori, pointing at Duncan with an angry finger.

"Does it matter? You better quiet, or else we will get caught by the enemy before we even understand our surroundings," replied Duncan, facing away from his twin.

"And why won't we want to get caught by the enemy? Aren't we here for a reason? Hello... We are supposed to-"

"I know what we are supposed to do, but can we do it in a way that doesn't revolve around us being killed in the first act? We don't even know where we are or if we will find this enemy. And when we do find the Knight, what are our plans? Do we go all out once?"

"Or are we going to slowly weigh him down until he has no more Elemental Energy? " Will we destroy his Elemental Core?" questioned Duncan as Midori pouted.

"Fine... Fine... I'll keep my voice down for the time being. But I'm using my Seeds to fight the Knight first. We can fight him together or separately, but I'd wager that defeating the Knight together would be much easier for us," explained Midori.

"That would be great. Now then, where on Earth are we?" asked Duncan as he looked around.

The twins had landed at a nearby lake but were shrouded by tall trees. The place was filled with lush greenery with dark green leaves. Duncan spotted the exit from the forest and saw a large lake. The boy stood there in awe while the Ankou and Duncan breathed in the tranquil air.

Just after the blue lake, a few huts lined around the lakebed. A slight breeze passed, and the Ankou quickly alerted Duncan about the enemy appearing before him.

"Would you mind waiting awhile before I summon you? I'll still be using your weapon and Frames..." asked Duncan as he stared at the figure.

"No problem. I'll wait until you are tired... Meanwhile, I'll be your lookout," answered the Ankou,

Midori finally caught up with the boy after taking the scenery. But the girl froze as she saw a suit of armor standing at the lakeside, back facing the twins. Duncan wasted no time summoning his scythe while Midori asked Mordred for permission to use Clarent.

The hunk of metal slowly turned around as both kids got ready with their weapons. The Knight had shoulder-length purple hair with blood red eyes. The armor was greyish purple as the Knight stomped his way towards the twins. Midori felt her blood run cold as she saw Lancelot.

Duncan saw that his sister was scared of the enemy and quickly stepped in front of her, holding his scythe in front of him.

"Come on, sis... We can't show fear to the enemy now, no matter how far gone or scary he is. So let's stick to the plan, and we'll win," whispered Duncan, squeezing Midori's hand.

"What was the plan again?"

"We will both attack but try to leave the defense to me. I will do it for you if you need to block a heavy attack. Sounds easy enough?"

Midori nodded as the Knight opened his mouth to howl, revealing two rows of sharp teeth. Then, without waiting, the Knight blindly charged toward the twins at full speed. But his charge was blocked by Duncan's scythe.

The boy used his Blood Mastery and enhanced his limbs to push the Knight backward. As Lancelot was moving, Midori quickly leaped from her place behind Duncan and struck Lancelot from above. Midori cheered internally when she slashed the enemy.

"Fool! Don't let your guard down! Lancelot is the Knight of the Lake, raised by the Lady of the Lake. He was known to be the most powerful Knight, surpassing me by a long shot. So don't think for a Tick that that puny slash will defeat him! Look out. NOW!" yelled Mordred within Midori's mind.

Midori heeded Mordred's advice as she saw Lancelot swinging his sword at her neck, despite being wounded across his torso. The child ducked while Duncan struck Lancelot in the back, causing the enemy to howl in pain. Midori had no choice but to get away from the raging Knight.

Meanwhile, Duncan was an inch deep into the Knight's back as the enemy went insane, trying to shake off the boy while spilling blood everywhere. Duncan saw that his attack was no use and quickly drew out the blade and delivered a kick towards the Knight's head.
