Gray Eyes (Part 1) - Experiment
[Note: This chapter's event takes place 3000 years ago.]
In a peaceful nation in the middle of war governed by the 22nd king of the Kingdom of Liffos, the resonance of blasts and the winds from shockwave outside the boundary reaches even at the center of the kingdom. During this time, war continually happens, many people have suffered and died even innocents, entire family, and the mages who protect people from danger. They all got eradicated.
How will the war ends? It's been 2000 years, but why there is still a war?
Who could be the person will be able to stop these devastating events, endless problems, and sufferings?

The resonance of explosions not too far from the rim of the kingdom echoed throughout the nation, the view from the sky are covered with deadly smoke and dusts, and a dazzling brightness of explosions done by the magicians who are fighting to protect the kingdom. These kinds of circumstances are already common, and because of these, not many people are able to neither migrate to other places nor deliver goods to other nations.
One house standing not very far from the border, a certain young man lives on his own.
He is a knowledgeable man who knows much about magic, a man who is always alone and isolated from the crowded district, and a man who likes to read and constantly researching much more about magic.
His name, Spruce… He might seem knowledgeable about magic, but, Spruce is not a magician, he never awakened the power of his magical aptitude. He is just one of those people who can't use magic; he is nothing but a "Failure".
He becomes a 'Failure', a term called for the people who never awakened their magical aptitudes when reaching 16th year of living.
However, even Spruce becomes a 'failure', he is still persistent on studying more about magic, because he knows it might benefit people, and knows that his studying and research about magic might end the war when he succeeded. No one knows yet what he is up to, he is just an ordinary person for what people thought of him. Spruce have been doing experiments for the past few years ago, every single experiments he performed have failed, there's no record of success at all, because all of it is not what he is expecting. What he expects is a magic that can stand against the existence of magic.
Yes, Spruce intends to remove magic from existence so people would never use it to cause devastation, suffering, and endless problems.
To make his experiments come to success, he needs an amount of ingredients that will suffice for his doings. His experiments always takes a month to finish and few days just to see the outcome whether it is a fail or is it not.
Spruce believes that such things can happen, because he believes that humans even himself should not possess magic. Magic is supposed to be God's possession, and only he is the one who could use it, not humans.
His recent experiment is to know how he can disable magic from one person who uses magic, temporarily. He created a stick made out of an expensive wood, there's also a green stone attached on its tip and a hard stone that surrounds it for support and resistance.
What he created is nothing special but an ordinary wand. Most 'failure' uses wand because they don't possess magic, the green stone attached to it can react and execute magical attributes when the owner of that wand said a word that triggers it. The word of magic he used to enchant the green stone was "Magic-Nullifier", a spell that cancels person's magical spells. However this spell is not what Spruce wanted. As what had been told before, he wants to remove magic from existence. For Spruce, he said that this is just his first step to success.
As Spruce continues to perfect his experiment, he again began to study and research more, and after that, he went outside his house to go to the urban district of the kingdom. It may take him a while because he lives nearby the boundary, the urban district of the kingdom is located not very far from the royal capital and it is located near at the center of the kingdom.
He went there bringing his wand and begin the test once he finally reached the district.
Several hours later, he has finally reached the urban district, the Mari District.
He came across the bridge and bump into guards that let the visitors take out their items in order to check something that does not allowed bringing inside the district. Guards don't confiscate magical items as long as they have license to it, they don't allow sharp blades like knives and swords unless they were permitted by the authority before visit.
"Halt, please show us your belongings."
Spruce does have a license of magic; he showed his license card to the guard in order to validate using "SCAN" magic.
"Scan complete, you may come in. Enjoy your visit inside the Mari District."
The License serves as a proof that they are authorized to use magic in a specific place just like Mari District.
The Mari district is home for valuable resources and items such as magic stones, gears, clothing, food ingredients, jewelries, and more. The Mari District now often called as "The Resource Capital of the Kingdom" due to the fact the district has mass number of resources to buy.
For that fact, this is the reason why Spruce wanted to go in this district. The place was very crowded; he can experiment surreptitiously without getting notice by the people and district's authority.
Now that he is now at the place where many people are gathered in one place, he slowly began saying the word of magic to activate the magic wand by whispering.
"Magic-Nullifier"
After that, the green stone began to glow. And now, Spruce now expects that some changes will be seen. Like for example, that man over there is using the "Hover" magic, a wind magician. By some short radius, the effect takes place slowly until the man who was moving around while on the air will have lost his power to use it in just a few seconds.
"Huh? What happened? I can't use magic."
As what Spruce expected, it definitely canceled his magic, not just him but also the people who were within the radius.
After that, the wand remained activated as he walked around the district, no one notice about what he's doing, people kept wondering why they can't use magic in a few moments.
Several minutes later, the wand slowly began to diminish as the green stone remained activated for a long time. Spruce now wants to deactivate the green stone by saying the word of magic again.
"Magic-Nullifier"
Then the green stone has been deactivated. After his successful experiment, he decided to go on a place where he can replenish his green stone in the wand. It's a place where there are magicians who can replenish the failure's green stone depending on the amount of their payment.
As Spruce had finally reached the place, he only saw one person. A girl who was the same age as Spruce does.
The name of the place Spruce went is, "The Cherries' Replenishing Store".
"Welcome!"
She stood up as soon as Spruce entered the store, and then Spruce was captivated by her beauty when the girl turned around. Spruce dazed for a few seconds until the girl asked.
"What would you like to buy sir?"
After she asked, Spruce heard her question and answered.
"Oh… Uh… You are so gorg., ah?!"
"Gorg?"
She tilted her head a little as she was confused.
Spruce was about to say 'gorgeous' to the beautiful lady but he was not able to say it because he was embarrassed. The girl noticed it too, but she has no idea what is going on with Spruce. Spruce's face was completely red and he is trembling and can't talk to her properly.
"No… I…uh…ju…just need you to replenish my wand, yes… that's it… my wand."
"As you wish sir, may I have your wand for a while?"
Spruce handed over his wand.
Spruce remained conscious as he looked at the girl's eyes. The girl has beautiful smooth white skin, she is also well-mannered to the customers, and she has green eyes which he assumed that he is a Life magician. Of course, life magicians always have the power to replenish the magic stone. Aside from that, Earth magicians, and Dark magicians are also the only ones with the power to replenish the magic stone.
Few minutes later of awkwardness, the magic stone has been fully replenished.
"Here you go sir, and the payment… 1000 sol."
"Yes, thank you."
He immediately brought out his coins to pay.
"Here you go miss."
Then after that, he turned around and walked to the door.
"Thank you, Sir. Come back again if you need for replenishment."
