The Will (VI)

The few days passed quite peacefully for Ru Ran, she stayed at her own home with Sister Fong. These past few days, Wang Lei gege had been visiting quite frequent having dinner with them, Ru Ran suddenly felt she gained a new family, although it was not the same like when her parents were still around but the feeling of warmth and love is present and very much real. Sister Fong was still awkward with Wei Long gege's presence but with each days the awkwardness is reduced and now Sister Fong even dare to pinch Wang Lei gege when he teased her. Uncle Gan who was present that time almost clapped his hand out loud. Sister Fong was then embarrassed to have shown them this side of hers which left her blushing as red as a tomato.

Ru Ran shamelessly clapped her hands without any restraints and it was the first time the house was filled with laughter instead of the usual gloomy atmosphere. The funeral matters could not proceed yet as the police had not allow the release of their bodies yet as investigation was still ongoing. Plus, Matriach Du had already announced that the funeral will be held at the Matriach's mansion.

Gan Wang Lei felt bitter that he could not adopt Ru Ran as his own and had to hand her over to those people. He knew he had to whatever he could to ensure her safety and future. He is also worried about the safety of the Fong Siew Lay as he is sure that those people would have plans to eliminate her. His father told him, he needed to toughen the lass up and give private combat lesson. He argued that anyone could do it but his father insisted for him to train her as well as Ru Ran. When Ru Ran is place into the equation, he could never refuse her.

The day of the will reading had arrived, the day was particularly a dark and gloomy day, drizzling lightly, even the mood in the car was sombre. Ru Ran eyes had dark circles beneath it, and she was exceptionally quiet. She had a very bad nightmare last night most likely triggered by the fact she had to stay with her uncle and step grandmother starting from today onwards.

She could only sleep back after sister Fong took her in her arms and she covered herself with the blanket the sickly boy had given her. His sickly medicinal scent still lingered on the blankie but weird enough it had a calming effect. She forgot all about the blanket until her nightmare caused her to wail and scream in her sleep. After her discharge from the hospital, she did have nightmares but it was mild only to startle her from her slumber and then only for her to return back to slumber land. So when she was fussing and kicking on the bed, she had awoken drenched in sweat that she recall about her blankie, she quickly requested for it from Sister Fong.Thinking about all of it now, she just realised she did not know his name. She tightened her grip on the ward of bills given by that nice aunty. She hid it in her dress's secret compartment. She only knew that the staffs at the hospital addressed the aunty as Madam Shen. One day, she vow to repay their kindness.

She was brought back to reality by Mr Gan, seems like they have arrived their destination. She alighted the car, and stood outside the Du mansion for quite sometime, despite being here a few times when yeye (grandfather) was alive, the house always gave her a cold and unfriendly vibe. Finally, she steeled her heart to enter the mansion. She was greeted by dozens over enthusiastic workers. They even ushered her to her new room. It was super pink and everything was frilly and girlish. She hated it. She loves white and shades of blue instead. She thought she could only swallow her grievances but her chances came when the Matriach asked for her opinion. She quickly curtsied and thank the Matriach for kindly accepting her and even went through such troubles to please her, however, she requested to be placed in a smaller and plainer room to show filial piety to her parents especially during the mourning period. The old lady was taken aback by this request and almost showed her displeasure when she realised that so many other people were present, hence, she decided to bite her tongue instead and shut her mouth. She then instructed Sa Long to prepare another room for the young miss of the house.
