Something fishy

"This is very generous of you. Thank you," said Ai Sha. She was feeling very confused, she stared at her cousin trying to see if the other party was scheming but she could see none.

With Ru Ran's 10% and the shares Du Wen Hai has accumulated that will be given to her today as well, she will now own 40%, making her the biggest stockholder and Ru Ran will be second biggest at 35%. Not only Ru Ran is not interested in claiming the company but she is practically giving away the company to her. Why is it that this cousin of her is not as what they have portrayed her to be?

"Ru Ran, are you sure?" asked Du Wen Hai in disbelieved. All these years, he was afraid that when she comes back, she would want to reclaim what belongs to her, instead she is handing it over peacefully making it very hard to believe.

"Yes uncle, I have been away for 20 years and have been unfilial to my family, plus, I have never been around to be a friend for Ai Sha, it is only right I bring a befitting gift for her 20th birthday. By the way, where is Matriach Du? Has she been well?" asked Ru Ran.

"Your grandmother is not doing so good especially during your father's death anniversary, she is at home recuperating," explained Chan Pei Sia.

"Then I should pay a visit to her one of these day with Ji Yu. I do hope she gets well soon," said Ru Ran solemnly.

Ai Sha's feelings turned sour when she heard Ru Ran spoke of Ji Yu and herself in the same breath.

"I should pay a visit to Matriach Du as well with you Ai Sha, one of these day," said Young Master Han.

Ai Sha could only smile politely and nodded her head as an agreement at the same time feel helpless internally at his words.

Han Tian Cheng could only rejoice internally, and kept his straight and stoic face, he will take the first step and make his way to her heart. He glanced at Du Ru Ran and can't help admire her demeanour and her eloquent speech. No wonder someone like Shen Ji Yu can fall heads over heel in love with her. He could no longer continue to stare at her as Shen Ji Yu had purposely blocked his gaze and draped his left arm over Du Ru Ran's shoulder, marking his territory.

Shen Ji Yu's actions broke him out of his trance. He could not believe that he had just admired another woman other than Du Ai Sha. Thank goodness Du Ai Sha wasn't paying any attention to him.

The banquet then proceeded with the shares handover from Du Wen Hai to Du Ai Sha. As the crowd were cheering, the lights suddenly went off and the building's roof opened revealing a sky lightened up by fireworks. Truly a glorious sight to behold. It was during that time, a waitress accidentally bumped into Ru Ran and spilled champagne all over Ru Ran's dress. Sounds of glass shattering could be heard.

Soon after the lights came back on and the roof closed. People were surprised to see a drenched Ru Ran in Shen Ji Yu's arms, princess style. The waitress was apologising profusely, claiming she had tripped in the dark, causing her to be imbalance and the tray of champagne she carried toppled over Ru Ran. It was Ji Yu's swift move that managed to move Ru Ran out of harms way. If it wasn't for him she might suffered from cuts from the broken glass.

Ru Ran wanted to avoid the waitress but was pushed backward by someone causing her and Ji Yu to be separated for a moment. If it weren't for that, with her and Ji Yu's quick reflexes, it could have been avoided.

"My poor dear, come follow me to change out of your dress, I think Ai Sha has extra clothes, do you need it or do you have extra clothes on your person?" asked Chan Pei Sia in a worried tone.

"This is a small matter, it was dark, it isn't easy to navigate through the crowd with the tray. It's okay aunty, I do have my jacket, it will do, plus, we are planning to leave anyway," said Ru Ran.

"Oh, why don't you stay longer, we haven't met you in years. You can go to the changing room that they provide here to change first, it is truly a cosy room, then we should take a family photo and then if you really want to leave, then go on," insist Chan Pei Sia.

Ru Ran felt the whole incident was too suspicious plus Chan Pei Sia's enthusiasm was a little too much. She excused herself to the washroom first, Ji Yu followed closely. Chan Pei Sia followed from behind, playing the role of a good host. Ji Yu wanted to enter the washroom together with Ru Ran but was stopped by Chan Pei Sia.

"Em, Mr Shen, I don't think it is appropriate for you to enter the female washroom," said Chan Pei Sia.

"Why not?" asked Ji Yu.

"There might be other females present and it would intrude on their privacy," she reasoned.

However, Shen Ji Yu is not someone that listens to reason, he does what he does because he has the power to do so.

"I want to accompany my wife as she is too beautiful, I am scared someone might snatch her away," he replied

With that, he announced he'd be entering the washroom in 2 minutes with Ru Ra, to those in the washroom who had problem with it, may leave before he enters.

"Hey, isn't that too domineering?" Ru Ran scolded him half heartedly.

"I don't even want to be apart from you, not even one second," he replied.

His actions and behaviour renders Chan Pei Sia speechless. Ai Sha who came to check on them overheard his word felt like another slap was delivered to her face.
