My existence is a joke

Meanwhile...

"Let me go," pleaded Ai Sha.

"You told me this morning you didn't want to get involved and that you are of no help to locate Ah Li, then why are you here?" Ken asked in a direct manner.

She did not know how to answer, this morning, when he asked her for help in order to locate her father, she could not help but laugh inwardly at her pathetic self. Since the day, she knew she was just a pawn, she had loathed herself for being such a fool. No wonder a fool is called a fool because never listens and always thinks he is right.

"Can you go easy on me?" she pleaded. She does not know why, with him, she can simply be honest, not caring about her face or pride.

He kept silent waiting for her to speak further. His grip on her loosened but he did release her completely.

"I realised I have been foolish and today is a validation my existence is a joke," she said with tears running down.

He received news that she was almost assassinate today, two of his men were gravely injured and the other two had some light injury. She had brought them over for treatment. She recognised the men who came for her, who else but those working for her father. Not only he did not save her but he did not even intend on letting her go. It is not that she could tell on him, getting to his place, she was often blind folded and travelled in a super tinted vehicle, which made it hard to discern one's bearing.

All these while she trusted that it was for her own good she did not know exactly where he lives as to not danger her life because he had many enemies. It seems that the joke is on her because he never trusted her nor see her as his own.

"A fool is a person who thinks he is wise while a wise man knows himself to be a fool," he said quietly while pulling her into his embrace. He did not know when he develop a habit of trying to make her feel better.

Listening to his words coupled with his action, she was taken aback for a moment before pushing herself away and looked up into his beautiful face, "I didn't expect you of all people to be good at comforting, thank you for protecting me, saving me time and time again," she said.

"There is no place here for me and I don't want to keep on burdening you or them, my father wants me dead, I brought your men here for treatment, I was thinking about leaving the country, that was why impulsively visited Ru Ran, to pray for fast recovery and ask for her forgiveness but what greeted me was a solemn mood, as if she would not make it, since everyone was chanting, I decided there is no harm in me joining in, " she explained.

The initial sorrow she felt, she tucked it all away. She decided to simply explain the situation.

" Where and when are you planning to leave? " he focused on that instead taking her surprise again.

This man, is he concern about me? She quickly brush off her thoughts.

"I don't know but soon, maybe tonight?" she answered truthfully.

"Then, before you go let me know," he said after a long silence. He didn't know why wanted her to inform him but he felt it was just right for her to tell him.

"Um..I...Okay," she said.

Deep down she felt she did not want to tell him because she fears that when the time comes she might feel regretful to leave, was it because of him? Someone who actually started to show some genuine care.

He then realised the whole time he was holding on to her wrist, after listening to her not so convincing agreement, he let go of her hand. At that moment, they stood across each other awkwardly, both feeling loss of warmth from their physical contact. She was flustered and wanted to leave quickly, he too wanted to disappear quickly and both of them ended up bumping into each other, they awkwardly apologise and turn the opposite directions. He then ordered his men to follow her and keep her safe.
