The morning practice was spent entirely in the weight room.
While the rest of the team went home for the break Jace stayed and continued working out. When no one else was around Jace could try and push himself to his limits.
When it got close to time for the 2nd practice to start Jace made his way to the field ready to start.
After waiting for a short a punt of time every one showed up and you could see two groups
The players who was on the team last year and the first years. This was to be expected. The coach didnt leave them much time to talk in the previous practices.
For this practice the coaches had every one go to a position on the field and started doing drills.
Jace of course did his position as perfect as could be done.
Next was batting practice but instead of going to the cages the coaches had them do live batting practice.
Jace started out waiting but after a couple groups hit he went in as a catcher.
After the first 3 batters Evan became his pitcher. Jace walked to to him and they set up a quick 3 pitch battery.
Evan's 3 pitches were 2 seam 4 seam and a curve. Jace led the first batter to a strike out with using 2 outside curves and one high inside 4 seam fast ball.
While Evan's pitches weren't the fastest or most accurate the ball had alot of movement on it making it harder to hit.
After getting 4 batters out and 1 person getting a hit Jace was told to go bat.
Jace was like a machine and smashed every pitch that was thrown.
Jace went back to waiting for a while and was taking with Evan about his pitching style and how he got the ball to move so much especially during his curve.
During the middle of there conversation the coach called Jace over to pitch.
What Jace didnt know was he was going to face the top 3 batters on the team from last season.
On the first batter Jace was use to throwing to Theo so he let the ball go around 125 MPH.
The catcher couldnt handle it and the ball came out of his glove on all 3 pitches. The batter was out but the coaches quickly changed the catcher to the 2nd string catcher.
The coach told Jace to keep throwing the ball just as fast.
The 2nd string catcher could catch Jace's pitches but it took all he had not to drop it. When Jace got the 2nd batter out the catcher walked away cause his hand was hurting to much.
When the first string catcher came in he was looking at Jace funny.
He saw how red the 2nd strings catcher hand was. sadly for them they weren't using the speed gun or they would see even Jace's curve ball was at 107 MPH.
The starting catcher could catch the ball but started asking for what should be harder spots to throw the ball in hopes of getting Jace to throw slower.
After 2 strikes and 2 fouls the catcher decided to let Jace get hit and ask for one straight down the center.
Jace knowing what was going on smirked and threw the pitch at 80 percent. Jace normally throws at 50 percent after his break threw with his combined energies.
The ball went straight in to the catchers glove. The ball was so fast that it made the catcher close the glove with out him trying to.
Jace walked off and found Evan staring at him with a confused look.
Evan asked Jace the same question that every one was thinking. Are you sure your a catcher.
