Condition

Two weeks ago:

Her mind began to warp with fear, and something inside kept eating at her, but she couldn't shake the feeling.

To keep her mind out of the funk, Xue Guangli felt like painting — something she hadn't done in years.

In the sunroom, the air was cold, and the season was chilling and wet, but some light managed to peer through despite the gray skies.

She looked at the blank canvas, facing it, and beyond that canvas was the landscape of Long Huojin's yard.

She released a breath.

Before, whenever she stared at a canvas, she felt nothing. But now, she was overwhelmed with emotions, a mixture of sadness, happiness, and fear.

She picked up the colours hunter green, tangerine, and marigold. She carried her paint palette in one hand and a brush in the other.

Xue Guangli then roamed the colours freely, splattering, blending, and layering, losing herself in the moment.
