Chapter 29: The Bargain

Kathleen Remes' POV

"I object!" Someone was shouting from behind. I had to smirk inwardly as I was trying to make sure that our plan will go according to plan.

"I object!" The view of the shouter has been cleared. I have known that he was the one that will be pretending to be inside the room full of reporters.

"and might I know who you are, sir?" Kai said as he looked at him, standing up from his seat. I remained seated as I know that Kai would be the one that did all the talking right now.

"I am the firstborn of the Finnish royalty. My name is Fenn Aura Remes and I am here to claim the throne that my brother has the decency to destroy it," he said as he was standing in front of us now. I don't know what to make of this situation but Kai has a better idea now.

"I suggest you return to your seat, sir. We will be with you shortly," he said, causing Fenn to scoff at us.

"I will not be dismissed by you," he said as he pointed at Kai. In an instant, the guards have blocked him from advancing at us.

"I suggest that you go to the study room. I'm sure that you will know where it was," I said in Russian that made Fenn turned toward me as well as Kai. He smirked at me.

"well, my little niece can speak the tongue of the Devil," he replied. I smiled at him.

"and so is you, uncle but that did not stop me from going on top of the wheel here and then," I said as I looked at him. He was scoffing at me before he took his suit and went out of the room, hoping that he will go toward the study room as I planned him to go.

"Questions?" I asked as I took my seat as well as Kai. The reporters raised their hands before I smiled at them for the Q&A session.

Kai Virtanen's POV

I did not like it when Kathleen was doing things on her own. She ought to tell it to me as well. Oh well, I think I need to teach my wife a lesson to trust me more.

"ready?" I asked her as we walked out of the conference room. She did well for her first time as a conference as if she was born for the spotlight.

"As I would ever be," she said as she took my hands and the guards fell in behind us before we went to the study room.

"I must warn you, Kathleen, that Fenn was not what he seems to be. He might have come alone but I supposed he would have brought reinforcement as well," he eyed me knowingly as if he feared that Chris might make an ambush on us. I laughed it off.

"oh, husband, when will you ever learn to let me handle this?" She asked me as she arched her eyebrow at me. I smiled at him before we were standing in front of the door.

"well, I think I was doing it now," I said before we went inside the room. Uncle Fenn was gazing down at the window. He had vodka in his hand before he turned to us to look that we have just arrived, later than usual as I was sure that Kathleen did that just to despise him.

"Uncle, how nice of you to come at the very last moment," she said as she took a seat at the desk. Fenn has chugged on the expensive vodka before he went to take a seat. I was sitting next to Kathleen as she ordered the servants to get out.

"So, I thought you have come here to bargain," Kathleen said as she was looking like the queen she was. Fenn smirked at us.

"well, I think the one that was doing the bargain here was me. I have made some inquiries that you will be held against the trial that your father forget to mention. The important piece," he said as he was eyeing me up and down.

"I never thought you would be like this, Kai. You must have surpassed my judgment on your earlier days," he said as he said approvingly. I was about to speak but Kathleen cut him off.

"if you were trying to make my husband be on your side, you can kiss that ambition goodbye and if you were trying to compliment him, I suggest you hold your tongue. How dare you speak the name of your King without addressing him properly," Kathleen said darkly as she was staring at Fenn. I was blinking a few times before Fenn was barely controlling his anger.

"You, little one, will face the consequence of speaking that tone with me. You will respect your eldest," he said as he was pointing at my wife. She just stared at him before smirking at me.

"are you trying to make a threat to me?" She asked as she stood up in her regal form. Fenn was breathing heavily before Kathleen said something that made him flinched.

"if you must do this the hard way, Uncle, then I have no choice than to say that you will be found guilty of embezzling the money that was for the foundation of the military, laundering money to the offshore accounts that I have been able to get but some were still there and I also know that you have cheated on your wife, not to mention that she was your King's great aunt," she said with an air of authority in her voice. It boomed around the room as Fenn just aware that he had walked through into a trap that we just set up for him.

"you're lying," he said.

"am I? Do I stutter? Or perhaps a video would make your memories better," she said before she pushed a button and a screen appeared when Fenn and Aaron were fighting.

"you will not threat my daughter ever again," King Aaron said. Fenn just scoffed it off.

"oh? Are you threatening me, brother? Just because you have the throne, it did not mean that you will have the trust of the country. Assassins were just waiting for my command to take you out, if I must," Fenn said as we looked at the time of the video recorded. It was the day before King Aaron fell sick.

"Should I go on then, Uncle? Or would this be enough for you to have your memories back?" Kathleen asked him before she stopped the video. Fenn has barely contained it all before he lashed out.

"You dirty Tramp," he said and before I could protect Kathleen, she had acted out first.

Damn, that was fast enough like we were in slow motion.

Kathleen had thrown daggers at Fenn that he was hanging from the ceiling. I did not know how Kathleen get that daggers but I sure wanted one for myself. Fenn laughed as he was looking at my wife.

"You will never win, Niece as I have instructed that Katherine will forever hate you and you will continue to fight with her, on such a trivial matter of course," he said as he was eyeing us. Kathleen just arched her eyebrow.

"oh, do not so worry about your chosen one, Uncle. I just happened to know someone that can handle this kind of thing," she said before a phone, hers, was ringing.

"oh look, what do we have here?" She said as she answered it and put it on the loudspeaker.

"Speak," she said in Russian.

"We got him, he will be dealt with accordingly," the other line said. Kathleen smiled at Fenn before she spoke again.

"no need, I just need him alive and the victim?" She asked.

"was safe and sound, your highness. What is your order?" It asked.

"bring them safely back to Finland and make sure that Chris will be sedated heavily," she said.

"roger and out," it said before it hangs up the call. Kathleen looked at Fenn as she put the phone on the table.

"well, Uncle it looks like your chosen one was in my captivity. now, you don't have any leverage after all," she said and the way that she smiled gave me creeps that I don't want to be on her bad side.

"well done, Niece, you're are the worthy one of the throne," he said as he looked at her. She did not smile at his compliment.

"Guards, take him away," she ordered and a few guards, the highest ranks, were making sure that Fenn did not get out of the prison and roaming the streets anymore.

"I will be back for more, Niece, you can expect that," he said before a voice interrupted us.

"no, you won't, brother, and I will make sure you don't," my father-in-law said as he was getting through the door. Fenn looked at him as if he had lost his mind.

"Curse you, Remes. And curse you for taking my rights," he shouted before the door closed. I can see that Kathleen was shaking before she took a seat.

"Father," I said as he waved his hand dismissively.

"no need, Kai. I need a moment alone with my daughter," he said.

"if you want to say something, you can say it to Kai as well, I don't want him having some ideas afterward," Kathleen said before her father looked at her.

"Very well, you will be crowned as Queen and King now. I have made some arrangements for the coronation as soon as possible," her father said before Kathleen cut him off.

"No," she simply said.

"No? Why the hell not, daughter?" He asked her. I looked at Kathleen as I was trying to figure her out. She sighed before she looked outside the window.

"I just want a normal life," she whispered before she turned to look at me.
