"Alright." Michael said simply.
"Alright what?" Audrey snapped. "Is that all you have to say."
"Alright you can apply to any publishing company you want woman. Happy now?" Michael rolled his eyes and covered himself with his blanket. "Now can I sleep?"
Audrey was going to scream out for joy. She never thought that Michael would ever agree to her working. If only she had known that shouting back would make him agree to her, then she would have done so a long time ago.
Audrey's smile quickly died down when she saw how sad Michael suddenly became after agreeing to her. His eyes were closed now but one could tell how sad he was from the crease on his forehead and his haggard breathing. He even looked scared.
He must really not want her to work. Audrey thought exhaling.
However, even after seeing how sad Michael was Audrey decided that she would not compromise her happiness for his, not again. She deserved to be happy too.
She has done a lot of compromising for him of late, he should therefore compromise for her on this, instead.
She started to feel that there was more to Michael not wanting her to work, than he was letting out. She wanted to ask him to tell her the truth but she didn't know how best to raise the matter without causing them to fight again.
Michael turned his head back to sleep and she let him. For about thirty minutes she watched him, his eyes closed, while she thought and thought.
But his breathing was becoming heavier by the passing minute, it was as if he got more afraid with every passing second his eyes remained close.
He was scared definitely but what was he scared of.
"Hey." Audrey whispered. She poked him and he moved, but he did not open his eyes. "Hello from the other side. I wish I can say__"
She was singing and laughing when Michael finally opened his eyes with a smile. She knew her singing would definitely get to him as she had the most horrible voice there was. She couldn't even sing to save her life. "Seriously Audrey, seriously."
"Well it got your attention didn't it?" Audrey threw her head back in laughter. Her chest heaved up and down due to the strength at which she laughed.
"Your voice is horrible. I thought the world was ending please never sing again." He giggled sitting up. "What is it now. I've giving you the permission to work haven't I? Or is that you don't want me to sleep?" Michael rolled his eyes. "Women and their drama." He murmured to himself.
Audrey heard him but she chose to ignore him. She woke him up to ask him why he was scared and that was what she was going to do. Their was no need to be dramatic.
Audrey wanted to ask Michael plainly, but she soon thought of a better way to make him talk. Romance also known as the power of a woman. This was what she planned to use to trick him into talking.
Audrey sat on Michael's laps and straddled him.
Michael sat down looking confused as to what she was doing. Even if he didn't know why she suddenly became sweet, he was turned on still.
She kissed his ears and he held on to her waist, but when things were about getting more heated he pushed her back. "Why try if I will end up not satisfying you. Why?"
"We will work it out." Audrey replied brushing her hair back. "This is the 21st century anything is workable." She leaned in to kiss him but he promptly looked to the side, ignoring her lips.
Audrey pouted.
"But for how Long. I'm afraid you might get tired and look for what I'm not giving you outside and when you get it you will leave me." He blurted out just like Audrey knew he would. "I feel like I am not man enough. I mean I can't even satisfy my wife!" He whispered, breathing out harshly.
It worked.
