The Fiend

As both Gary and Mauri enter the room, Gary asks.

"how did you open the door?"

Mauri responds.

"it was written in the ancient language, and only those born with Hero's Blessing can read it."

Gary asks.

"so what did it say?"

she replies.

"how to undo the sealing spell."

Gary curiously ask.

"why would it be sealed?"

she responds.

"I'm not really sure, there are many doors I've opened that have been sealed by the ancients."

and as Gary rubs his hands together in delight, he chuckles and asks.

"so does that mean we found something that's worth a lot."

Mauri replies.

"maybe, we'll see what they have sealed in here."

Mauri then stops walking when she hears a feint whisper, she then asks Gary.

"hey um did you say something right now?"

he gives her a confused look and replies.

"no I didn't say anything."

she looks behind but doesn't see anyone there, and as she turns back to the front, she hears another whisper but this time a lot clearer and in her head.

"hello there, you don't need to speak out loud, you can speak with me in your mind."

she replies to the voice in her mind.

"what are you and what do you want?"

the voice whispers back.

"I'm just a spirit that has spent thousands of years sealed in this cold and desolate place."

Mauri suspicion grows but still asks curiously in her head.

"spirit you say, so tell me why have you been sealed here and why are you still sticking around, instead of leaving?"

it replies.

"like I said before, I've been sealed here for thousands lf years and it's been so long since I've

had contact with anyone."

she replies.

"okay but why were you sealed here?"

it responds.

"it was an unfortunate accident that I ended up here, because you see the ones from long ago were mining this mountain to find precious resources. but they dug too deep and found something very terrible."

Mauri feels a little uneasy but shrugs it off and asks.

"may ask what they found?"

as she asks that, a cold chill runs up her spine when the voice responds.

"they found a demon that called itself The Fiend."

Mauri thinks to herself.

"a demon, I've never heard of such a thing."

the voice responds to her thoughts.

"of course you haven't heard of demons before, they never had a chance to roam your world. but once they found and encountered the fiend, they knew how dangerous demons are and quickly sealed the door."

With fear creeping in throughout her body, Mauri yells to Gary.

"hey Gary we need to turn back now and leave!"

she scans the room but notices that he is not around, she then thinks to herself.

"where did he go?"

the voice replies.

"oh your friend went up ahead, while we were chatting."

she then tries to run, but for some reason her legs aren't moving, she thinks to herself.

"what the hell is going with my legs?"

the voice whispers.

"sorry Mauri but I can't let you go."

in shock she asks.

"how'd you know my name?"

it responds.

"I've been looking through your mind this whole time we've been talking."

she responds angrily.

"let me go!"

the voice responds, but it's tone of voice changed into an unnatural deep undertone.

"I'm afraid I can't do that now, because your body will now serve me as my home."

Mauri starts feeling a burning sensation flowing through her veins, and as she whinces in pain she asks.

"so what are you going to take control of me?"

it replies.

"obviously in time I'll take control of you and become you, but not until we've fulfilled your dark desire."

she asks.

"and what would that be?"

it's chuckle vibrates in her head, as it responds.

"your desire to take revenge on those who have killed your family of course."

she laughs it off and replies.

"I'm weak right now, I don't have the strength to get my revenge on them."

the voice laughs maniacally and says.

"well now that you and me are sharing this body, you have gained all of my abilities and a new path to grow much stronger."

this peaked her interest and she asks.

"and what would it take to grow stronger?"

the voice replies.

"by consuming the flesh of mortals, and the more we consume, our strength will increase in unimaginable ways."

deep down Mauri knows this is wrong in many ways, but the desire of having revenge increased the moment the voice brought up the prospects of their strength increasing, she then asks.

"so why are you interested in helping me on my revenge?"

the voice replies.

"because you and me are now connected and all that hatred you have for those who murdered your family, I also feel that hatred."

she chuckles to herself and asks.

"so are you attracted to hatred."

it replies.

"yes and the moment you walked in this room I felt that strong hatred in your heart, and because of the hate you carry. it made it easier for me to invade your body."

she responds with a question.

"so what should I call you?"

it replies.

"they call me The Fiend."

Gary comes back into the room and says to Mauri.

"hey I found more tunnels, and it looks like these go on for miles."

The Fiend whispers.

"Kill him and consume his flesh, if you do this I can get back some of my powers and get us off of this cold wasteland."

she replies hesitantly.

"no I can't do that to him."

The Fiend then says maliciously.

"fine if you won't do it, I'll do it."

Mauri responds.

"stop it, I'll do it then."

Gary approaches Mauri and asks with concern.

"are you okay, do you need to rest?"

Mauri gives Gary a sypmathetic look and says.

"I'm sorry Gary."

Gary asks with a worried voice.

"sorry for what?"

Mauri chants.

"Conjuration Dragon broadsword."

as the sword appears in her hand, Gary asks with tears in his eyes and with a quivering voice.

"Mauri what's going on, did I make you mad?"

Mauri swings down with great force, splitting Gary from the top to bottom in half, The Fiend then says to Mauri.

"good now consume his flesh."

she then proceeds to eat Gary with tears in her eyes.
