The Hunt Begins

As Mauri finishes devouring Gary, The Fiend whispers to her.

"good now we have gained some of my powers, now I'll have you use Demonic Wings, which will allow you to fly and get us out of this cold and desolate place."

Mauri remarks.

"that's not possible, only Dragonoids, Dragons, Griffins and Elves have the ability to fly."

The Fiend offended by the comment, replies.

"are you already doubting my abilities, well I guess you will find out once you leave this place and seal the door again."

confused she asks.

"I don't know any sealing spells, so how do you expect me to seal the door and why do you want to seal it?"

He replies.

"don't you worry about it, just place you hand on the door and I'll handle the rest, and as for why it's simple, I'd rather not have a bunch of demons roaming around and taking my meals."

disturbed on what it said, she says.

"that is a scary thought on having demons running around and causing havok."

The Fiend chuckles and responds.

"good at least you understand, now let's seal this place up while we can before another entity decides to follow us out."

Mauri quickly leaves the area, and then immidiately after closing the door, she places her palm on the surface and The Fiend starts speaking in a language unknown to Mauri, then a few seconds later he finishes and the door glows bright red, she curiously asks.

"what language were you speaking, I've never heard it before?"

he replies.

"of course you haven't, not many have heard the demon tongue."

Mauri then makes her way down the same dark hallway until she finally gets to the exit, back to the outside of the cave, where snow is still falling, and then The Fiend tells Mauri.

"chant demonic wings and wings should grow out your back."

she nods and before she gets to chant it, he interrupts.

"oh and another thing, be ready to feel excruciating pain."

Mauri chants.

"demonic wings."

and right after, the feeling of a thousand daggers repeatedly stabbing her begin to shoot out from her back, she grits her teeth and thinks to herself.

"what the hell this pain is unbearable."

The Fiend encourages her.

"fight through the pain, the wings are almost done forming."

the pain fades away and she breathes a sigh of relief, Mauri then thinks to herself.

"good thing I got through it, I almost felt like I was about to pass out."

The Fiend chuckles and says in admiration.

"there you go, the wings look absolutely beautiful."

Mauri interrupts it with a question.

"so what now, how do I fly?"

he responds.

"don't worry about it, I'll teach you how to fly later, for now let me handle the flying."

she begins to feel muscles on her back contracting, and she suddenly starts going up in the air, she excitedly says to The Fiend.

"ob shit, we are actually flying."

he then asks.

"so which direction?"

Mauri responds unsure.

"somewhere south from here."

irritated he replies.

"use demon vision, it will let you see the life energy of mortals."

she then chants.

"demon vision."

her vision turns red, but she also sees many figures that are blue, Mauri asks The Fiend.

"are the blue colors, life energies?"

he replies.

"yes."

she responds.

"alright then let's go."

He starts to flap the wings and begins heading towards the closest life energy, and while they are flying, Mauri asks.

"are you sure that we will make it back to mainland?"

he responds.

"what do you mean?"

she replies.

"do we have to worry about the wings giving out before we get there?"

he laughs and says.

"these are demonic wings, they won't be giving out any time soon, and if anything does happen, you will feel it cramping immediately."

she thinks to herself.

"alright there is no helping that, for now just focus on getting revenge."

The Fiend replies.

"yes let the hatred flow through you, and focus on getting your revenge."

she chuckles and asks.

"so I can't even be alone in my thoughts huh?"

he replies.

"no, whatever your thinking I'll be able to hear it."

and before she got to respond, The Fiend asks.

"so can you describe the people we are hunting down?"

she replies.

"well one of them I already killed, his name was Helos and he specialized mimicry."

intrigued with what she said, he asks curiously.

"mimicry you say, it sounds like he might have been a demon."

she replies surprised.

"no it can't be, everyone in his family can do the same thing."

when he didn't respond, she asks.

"so do demons mimic?"

he responds.

"yes only demons can do it, mortals should not be able to do it, unless."

he pauses, and she impatiently asks.

"unless what?"

he replies irritated.

"unless a demon procreated with a mortal being and now his or hers bloodline has been passed down, and this is unacceptable...now listen to me Mauri, once we get your revenge, we are going to do a clean up job and wipe out this disgusting bloodline."

she sighs and replies.

"okay, we'll do it, I know many of his family members, so it should be easy to track them down."

he replies.

"good things are shaping up just fine. anyways Mauri describe the others for me."

she replies.

"well there is Frank, he has disciplined himself into mastering fire magic."

he responds.

"a typical element, he should be easy to dispose of."

she continues.

"Gabriel focused most of his training in mana concealment and has been added to the Rozlania's elite assassin squad."

The Fiend replies.

"he will be tricky one, so we should probably save him for last."

Mauri resumes.

"and last but not least, there's Xavier he focused his training in ice magic and he also studied in the physical magic the dwarves are known for."

The Fiend responds.

"another troublesome fellow, but don't worry yourself, we will become stronger, once we start consuming more mortal flesh."

after that conversation, Mauri and the Fiend continue to fly across the ocean, so their hunt can officially begin.
