Chapter 11

Ethan stands in front of a huge building. The huge building belongs to Eplia City Southern Area Adventurer Guild. Every adventurer guild in the world is the same and every cities and towns have one. Eplia city had five adventurer guild. Each area central, north, east, south and west had an adventurer guild. People who needs help can post jobs with rewards and any registered adventurer can do the jobs. The jobs that can be found in the adventurer guild ranging from cleaning a house to killing monsters. Any kind of jobs can be post here.

Adventurer had ranks. The lowest rank was F followed by E, D, C, B, A and the highest rank was S. Everyone who just register at adventurer guild will be rank F. To rise up from lower rank, every adventurer need to do and finish jobs and took some tests. Just like Adventurer, jobs also have ranks. Adventurer can only take jobs that have the same ranks as their adventurer ranks. They cannot take jobs lower or higher than their ranks.

There was one thing that the adventurer guilds offered to adventurer that made adventurer the most popular jobs in the world. That was stats crystal. Other than the rewards offered by the person who posted the jobs, adventurer guilds also rewarded jobs completion with stats crystal. Stats crystal can increase ranker stats without any training. The adventurer guild was the only place that produced stats crystal. The stats crystals were created using skills of the adventurer guilds founder. No one knows what skill the founder used. Every time an adventurer reports their jobs completion, the stats crystal will immediately appear in front of them. The stats crystals differed from each other. Each crystal gives different stats up based on the adventurer contribution while doing the jobs. The more an adventurer contribute while finishing the jobs, the more stats they will gained from the stats crystal. Raising stats was not easy. At the beginning, it will be easy but the higher the rank, the harder to gain stats, so, the stats crystal was important for ranker.

Ethan entered the adventurer guild. The inside of adventurer guild was huge. The adventurer guild used the space room because they needed to receive a lot of adventurer. There were many floors inside. Each floor belonged to each rank. The first floor was for F rank adventurer and highest floor was for S rank adventurer. The ground floor was for general use. Only adventurer can access the above floor.

"Welcome, how may I help you. Do you want to post a job or do you want to register as an adventurer?" asked the receptionist while smiling.

"I want to register," said Ethan.

"Please put your hand on this orb. This orb will appraise and then register your general information,"

Ethan put his hand on the orb and the orb emitted a faint light. A lot of words starts floating on top of the orbs and disappear a few seconds later.

'Ting~ Gain title F rank adventurer. All stats not including talents increase by 1%'

"This is your adventurer card. Please keep this card safely. If you lose the card, you will receive a penalty from the guild. Use this card to access the jobs' floor above. You are F rank so you can only access the first floor. This card will also act as your identification card and you can use this everywhere in this world. With this card you will receive 50% discount on tax while entering towns and cities. When you accept a job, the card will record it and transfer to your system. You can view the job you took from your system and your system will notify you when you complete your jobs," explained the receptionist.

Ethan was dumbfounded with how fast the receptionist explain everything to him.

"Do you have any question?" asked the receptionist.

"No, thank you for the explanation," Ethan thanked the receptionist.

While Ethan was walking to the first floor, he wondered how can the system and the adventurer card connect with each other? He always thought that the system was something natural. A gift from above when human awakened their power to easily manage themselves but now his thought has change. Maybe the system was part of a Ranker special skill. When he first got the special skills, he thought he might be the only one but Haruto seem to have knowledge about the special skills so that was debunked and now with the guild too.

Ethan reached the first floor. There were a lot of people here. There were lots of board filled with jobs. Ethan was astonished by this sight. Ethan went to check the board. There were too many jobs. Ethan decide to take 3 quests.

'Ting~ 3 new jobs register

1. Collect 100 flask of slime fluid. Completion (0/100)

2. Collect 50 horned rabbit pelt. Completion (0/50)

3. Collect 1 kg of red magpie's red feather. Completion (0/1000g)

Any adventurer can take as many jobs as they want but if they failed to complete it, a penalty will be given. Ethan took these three quest because he didn't need to go far. He was too weak to go further than the prairie. He never fought a horned rabbit but he had a feeling it won't be too hard. The red magpie will be a bit of a problem. Red magpie can use fire magic. Ethan can't use any offense magic and wafu was still weak and his tackle was a short ranged attack. Ethan want to buy water magic but he didn't have much budget right now.

It's already afternoon when Ethan left the guild. Ethan went for lunch and went to the prairie with Wafu and Gooey. Ethan decide to bring Gooey with him because he wants Gooey to level up too. Ethan's aim for that day evening was not to complete the jobs but to gather high quality materials to sold it to Haruto so that he can buy storage item, skill Tame: Storage, water magic for both himself and Wafu and few more equipment for him and Wafu.

He decided to complete the jobs the next day. Every jobs had time limit and as long as the jobs finished before the time limit, no penalty will be given.

A few hours later

A few hours of hunting, Ethan gained a few stats, Ethan can't have tracked Gooey stats but he knows Gooey getting stronger and Wafu reached level 2. Ethan also managed to farm a few skill drops.

'Ting~ choose your drop 1. Slime fluid (grade A) 2. Slime core (Grade b)'

"Hmm~ this is a problem. A huge problem," Ethan was in a big problem.

"The Drop 50% special skill is good but the material's grade is too high. I can sell this to Haruto but to use this to complete the jobs will gain me some unwanted attention. I've compare what I gain before with the material in the market and the material in the market is mostly grade F and few are grade E and D," Ethan worried.

He was in a bind. Due to the special skill, he rarely got drops of grade D, E or F. Even during the few hours, he was hunting that day, he only got twice of low grade drops. If this keeps up he won't be able to complete his jobs.

"Can I change the drops grade manually? This is a huge problem,"

'Ting~ Do you want to change the drops' grade? You are allowed to only change the grade to lower than the current grade shown. The grade shown beside the drop is the max grade obtainable for this killing.' The system notified Ethan.

Ethan's face lighted up "Yes!! So this is the Drop 50% other effect?!! Nice," Ethan was jumping around with joy while Wafu and Gooey looked at Ethan weirdly.

"Now, I can finish the job without any problem,"

Ethan, Wafu and Gooey went hunting for few more hours. The sun was at the horizon. Ethan, Wafu and Gooey stopped hunting and went back to town. Ethan went to Modo to sell his drops like usual and went straight home afterwards.

He prepared dinner for Wafu, Gooey and himself. He brought Wafu inside the house because he worried that Wafu will be cold outside. He lying on his bed while checking his status information.

"I learn a lot of things today," said Ethan while smiling.

"Hmm?" Ethan looked at Gooey's body that suddenly vibrates and then he feels that his bed was shaking. Suddenly, everything was shaking hard. Earthquake hit them. The house was shaking and starts cracking. Ethan stands up from his bed but had a hard time standing.

"Wafu, Gooey let's get out of the house!!!!" Ethan screamed towards Wafu and Gooey. They managed to barely went out of the house when the house collapsed. When they were outside, a lot of his neighbors run outside of their house and their house collapsed. The earthquake went on for 5 minutes and stopped.

"What happen?"

"I've never felt earthquake this strong."

"Look. There are some parts of the city wall collapse."

"Did a monster or ranker attack the city?"

Everyone was panicked.

'Ting~'

All people who already awakened their power suddenly receive a notification from the system.

Ethan read the notification and his eyes wide opened.
