Michelle

This woman I know should call my mother, knew something. I noticed her questioning of me on the first night that I arrived in the Cole household. I however adored my new father he seemed to love my presence.

To me this house was nothing except windows an walls. I didn't care how nice it was it was just big enough so my mind could wander the halls as I slept.

"Michelle! Michelle!?" I heard that annoying woman yelling at me.

"Yes ma'am?" I respond keeping the same calm tone I had spoken in since the day I got here. "Will you not ignore me when I say you name?"

She begins to rant and I stare at her as if she is a crazy woman. She's so pleasant to watch. She has the attitude of a spoiled brat.

I turn my head away looking around the walls of the dinning room. The Woden door an mint green trim on a dark green wall, everything plated in gold.

A small cold breeze hits me as I walk out of the room knowing that the woman will most likely call me back. Surprisingly she doesn't she just leaves me with my thoughts an thousands of arms spreading throughout this manor. Something crashes behind me.

"Oops" I smile softly to myself, the woman runs out . Shocked by a vase that was now on the floor in thousands of pieces.

She glances at me her expression colder then the coldest winter nights, " You stupid child do you know how much this cost me!" Her voice harsh almost yelling.

"I'm sorry ma'am." I say making myself seem guilty. " I didn't mean to, I accidentally bumped it."

Her expression softens as she looks at me believing every word rolling from my mouth.

"It's alright child, I will get one of the servants to clean it up."

I smile crookedly without her noticing an turn to continue my tour of the home. All I could think about was how naive humans were. It's pitiful watching them cower at the feet of an earth demon. I could make the ground collapse from under their feet If they didn't respect my existence.

I scan rooms until I come across one I have never seen, I move myself into the room seeing layers of dust plating just about everything. The room is huge, a stage at the back of the room with a grand piano upon it. Dust resting on it like a blanket that protected it from aging. I move through the room an all I can feel is a heavey feeling something doesn't want someone like me here. It makes me smile knowing I may have a challenge in this manor. It means nothing to me I am just trying to do what my master told me to do.

After all I wasn't the one who signed the contract binding me to burden this family until they perish, growing forever like a human child however I am over a million years old. I have lived may lived an gone but many names, each body only a capsule for what lies inside. I have no soul I just consume every soul I come across.

This family is just another victim in my endless game of tag.

"Michelle!!!" I hear that woman's voice call from behind me her voice calm but filled with that helpless human sound.

" I'm in here ma'am" I say as if I am required to give her the answer she wants to hear.

The woman enters the room. "Oh I see you found out ballroom." She says walking over to my side. She takes my hand spinning me.

" Jace and I used to have parties in here an I would sing, him playing the piano" she smiles as if recalling a memory.

" Why did you stop." I ask letting my curiosity crawl when I really shouldn't.

The woman looks at me warmly, " somethings just have to end young one."

I didn't understand what that meant, an how dare she call me young one. She walks to the piano each step as graceful as the last, she takes a seat at the piano dusting off the keys and playing a beautiful melody I never heard before.

I glance at her, her fingers gliding across the keys like as if they were dancing.

My train of though circles around me as I suddenly feel dizzy. The energy I felt before suddenly became unbearable.

I feel my head get fuzzy the more she plays, the more the music surrounds me, the more I hate the tune. Suddenly she stops glancing at me as I regain my senses. I turn an leave never wanting to be in that room again.

Voices scatter my mind as if they are chasing me. I want to run, run away from the energy but no matter how fast I run it's right behind me.I can't control my power as vines crawl up the walls like serpents following me. I finally run to my room here I know I am safe.

Flowers bloom around me as a collapse on my bed crying from the pain I had felt seconds before. She enters my room an walks over to comfort me.

"Child are you ok?" She sounded like she had no idea what to do.

"Yes…" I say putting in another act. " That song was dear to my mother she played it everyday before she passed in the fire." The lie slipped off my lips as if it was the truth however I knew it wasn't it could never be the truth. So far from the truth.

The woman pulls me into her arms. Her human heart beating , every beat made me more hungry but I fought back my hunger it wasn't time to take her soul just yet. I had only been here for a day.

She sits on my bed next to me an strokes my back. "I'm sorry that you had to go through that." The woman says.

" Ma'am I am sorry you have to see me this way." I murmur through the fake tears in my eyes.

" Please call me Katherine." She smiles still holding he like I was innocent.

The name crosses my mind. "Katherine." I find myself saying softly. " That's a pretty name."

My mind wonders to hours before this happened it's like she was a completely different person then the one I met yesterday evening.
