I bent down and started to help her collect the ants. It may be a rather strange idea but at least she's better now. Maybe I'll talk to her soon about what happened and why she was crying.
We imagined all the ants as one person as we wouldn't be able to keep track of a singular ant on its own.
Iris went off to hide while I counted down from fifty with the ants. Finally, I was able to open my eyes and I yelled, "READY OR NOT HERE I COME!" A few frightened birds flew from the trees and I smiled to myself.
I set off around the gardens. There were many Autumn trees that I figured she might be hiding in, so I attempted to scramble up every single one to find her! When it comes to sardines I'm unstoppable. I take the game very seriously but after dropping down from the fourth tree I was knackered.
I sat down and leant against an old oak tree. I put down the container and let the ants run free to find her.
From here I noticed a part of the rock surrounding the gardens where everything was caved in. That's where she was!
I rushed over, determined not to let the ants get there before me. I found her all huddled up in the corner of the rock, she was giggling uncontrollably. "You sure did take a long to finding me," she laughed! At first I was still confused why she seemed to find this so funny but then I saw something small crawl up her arm. I was defeated by the ants! "Good game," I said while making a feeble attempt to shake the ants hand. "That was fun," Iris exclaimed. "Let's do this again some time," I found myself saying.
Even though I know that I'll never be able to express my feelings for Iris I hope we can still play together like this. But I think even if we'll never be in a relationship I'll always secretly like her...
