Chapter 10: Terrifying teamwork!
Roar!
Kira roared furiously, approaching the assassin in a single breath. His hands twisted and turned like that of a serpent as he aimed for the man's throat with his martial art technique.
"Martial arts: Serpent strike!" Kira roared furiously.
This was unexpected and the assassin wasn't prepared for this. His head tilted to the left, barely evading the attack, leaving behind a red mark on the right side of his neck. His black shades fell off and he decisively retreated!
Who would have thought that a mere thirteen years old blessed with legendary grade potential and a powerful company standing behind him to assist him in his cultivation would be interested in martial arts?
"You are not getting away!" Kira roared and he stormed forward, continuing his assault on the assassin.
His extremely fast palm attacks created hissing sounds that resembled that of an actual snake. It was so fast that Zero and the others could barely see his hands!
Zero and the others knew Kira was always interested in martial arts, by the way, he was Asian. Japanese to be precise. They knew he trained every day and they knew he had a strong foundation after mastering his family's secret martial art technique to a reasonable level but they have never witnessed him fight with it in a real battle.

Sounds of palms slamming together filled the room and Kira was in a disadvantaged position. All his attacks were been deflected and he also took a few hits to his joints as he gritted his teeth and pushed on!
Wooosh!

The assassin quickly moved to the side abruptly with a terrified expression on his face. He touched the back of his head only to notice it was bleeding! His eyes narrowed as he considered a few things. His meaningful gaze fell on Dan who was standing next to Kira now. A finger on his right hand was covered in blood and he wore his usual vicious smile on his face with his eyes closed. His white and black hair swayed carelessly in the wind and his sleeves were rolled back, revealing some strange tattoos on his body.
"Oooo Damn… I almost pierced your brain…. This would have been over in a single strike" Dan complained.
"Phantom King… the rumors were true, the four of you inherited your parent's special abilities" The assassin said with a frown on his face.
Dan's father was known as the phantom king, a specialist type with terrifying ghost-like abilities. He could phase through solid objects, manipulate the weak-willed, and manipulate raw aura up to a certain extent. He may not have possessed explosive powers like the other three wings of the liberation union, but he was the most difficult to deal with amongst his friends.
"This will be difficult…" The assassin mumbled. He knew he was not in a favorable situation at the moment and now his cover has been blown, the God sect won't care about him unless he accomplishes something noteworthy. He was initially hoping he could one-shot these kids and escape before arrives but this was no longer possible.
Roar!
The man roared and his shirt exploded, revealing his bulging muscles and hairy chest. His eye turned bloodshot but his breathing became slow, yet steady. The man who didn't possess any form of aura suddenly released something intangible and invisible. Even though no one could see it, they could easily feel the oppressive aura diffusing from the man's body, it clearly showed he was going for a killing blow now.
At this point, numerous rowdy footsteps could be heard climbing up the stairs from the lower levels of the building, reinforcement. It was quite clear that this short exchange has reached a critical level, If Zero and the remaining two can somehow survive the next few attacks of this man, they will win. If the man manages to kill any of them, they lose.
The atmosphere in the spacious room turned heavy and beads of sweat rolled down everyone's foreheads even though the room was really cold. Their eyes narrowed and with a bang, Kira and Dan dashed towards the assassin with vicious smiles on their face. Victory was not too far from them, if they could keep this man occupied long enough for the guards to appear, they will be able to restrain this man and take him into their custody. They can interrogate this man and get relevant information concerning the god sect!
"Hahahaha! It ends here!" Dan laughed cruelly…
Roar!
The assassin let out a roar and shot forward towards them fearlessly. His bloodshot eyes were fixed on Kira but he was still conscious of Dan's actions, who he deemed the most dangerous person in the room.
At this moment, his joints felt stiff and some parts of his veins had turned purple a bit. He could roughly guess this was an effect from Kira's serpent strike, as the kid was three levels below him in terms of martial arts skills so his poison attack wasn't really effective. Even though slowed down his movement speed and reduced his overall power output by a small portion but he wasn't really bothered. His current speed and power are enough to completely overwhelm these kids if nothing goes wrong.
His muscles on his right hand began bulging as he ignored Dan and quickly approached Kira. Upon arrival, the assassin slammed his feet on the ground and steadied himself before striking out viciously.
"Martial arts: Vicious palm barrage!" He roared as he struck out viciously with all the power he could muster.
Against such vicious attacks, Kira did not retreat! He slammed his feet on the ground and took a stance. His hands move in strange motions and his body twisted and turned strangely, it was as if there were no bones in his arms.
"Snake art: Soft body technique!" Kira muttered softly.
Bam!

Bam!!!
Soon the two were entangled in a dangerous close-quarters battle. Since Kira could not compare to this martial arts practitioner in terms of strength, he could only focus on parrying his attacks while keeping him rooted to a spot. As long as he could pin this man down, here and now, they will definitely end this battle if the others cooperated perfectly.
"Grrrrrhhhhhhhh…." Kira bit down on his lower lips as he parried the attacks. Even though he was only redirecting the man's fists, the man's strength was extremely terrifying, and making contact with his hand felt like smashing his bare fists into a rock. Even though Zero supported by creating a thin layer of purple energy around his hands, it could only reduce the pain.
At this point Zero could not do much, his face was covered in sweat and he looked paler than usual. In just a small moment he had expended most of his spirit energy in this battle just to keep his friends safe from this man's vicious power. Each time the man's fist crashed against his purple barrier it felt like his brain was been pricked by needles. If he pushed himself further, he may end up hurting himself in the process!
Wooosh!
Dan appeared behind the man like a ghost and a little retractable dagger appeared from thin air as he aimed at the assassin's skull. Even though his powers made him almost godlike and difficult to kill, he still needed spirit energy to keep using it. Surprisingly his abilities consumed a large amount of his spirit energy. With just a single use, a quarter of his energy has been consumed already! Leaving him with three more tries!
Miss!
The assassin's head twisted to the left, evading the dagger attack. His left hand curled into a fist and he quickly made a 180-degree turn, delivering an elbow strike towards Dan's skull.
Wam!
The vicious smile on Dan's face didn't fade, even for a second as he proceeded to launch a second attack, ignoring the elbow strike. The elbow phased through his face as his hands held on to the dagger in a reverse grip position, before for swinging it towards the assassin who was half-turned in his direction. At this moment, a cunning smile appeared on the assassin's face as his right hand flew out from nowhere and violently slammed into Dan's wrist wielding the dagger. Numerous bone-shattering sounds could be heard and Dan screamed out in pain! A tear rolled down his left eye but he didn't retreat!
The dagger which fell off his right hand was skillfully caught in a reverse grip position with his left hand and it accurately struck at the center of the assassin's muscular chest. The blade sank in but only half of it, leaving behind only a shallow cut! The assassin's body was thicker than he actually expected!
With Dan stealing the assassin's attention, Kira was given a chance to catch his breath. His teeth sank into his low lips viciously and thick red blood filled his mouth in just a second. The chairmen and chairwomen watching were stunned by this move and confused as to why the kid decisively hurt himself but when they remembered who his father was, they trembled in fear! When they looked at the assassin engrossed in his fight with Dan, they shook their heads in pity.
"And this is for my friends you've hurt so far!" Kira roared as he spat out a ball size crimson red flames.
The blood-red fire wreaked of blood and produced no heat at all. It slammed into the firm, intimidating bareback of the assassin and it suddenly doubled in size! In just a second the man's back was covered in red flames and the smell of burning flesh filled the room.
"Arrrrrrrrgh!" The man screamed in pain as he reached for his back with his hands but they were set on fire as well. These red flames spread easily and it is rumored to be able to burn through anything in a matter of seconds!
The moment this ability hit the assassin his life was now in the hands of Kira!
Puff!
Dan took advantage of the time Kira's attack bought him and he skillfully drove the dagger into the man's left eye and quickly retreated by a few meters. His right hand dangled freely in the air and looked a bit disfigured. The strength of this man was truly terrifying!
"You!" The man roared in pain but he didn't dare bring his burning hands close to his face to pull out the dagger. He let out a roar and furiously chased after Dan with murderous intentions. He knew he would most likely die from this red fire attack, if he could get hold of Dan, he could easily convince Kira to deactivate his ability or watch both of them die!
"Hell no!" Zero kicked away his seat in anger and roared furiously. His eyes let out a ridiculous amount of purple light and his white hair fluttered in the air wildly.
"Defensive combat technique: Turtle shell!" Zero roared and his power erupted violently.
In an instant, numerous turtle-shell shaped purple shields appeared from thin air to form a dome around Dan. In another second, two more layers were formed skillfully and they revolved around each other.
Bang!

"No!!!!" The martial art assassin roared furiously, as he struck the barrier multiple times but he could only shatter one turtle shell per blow. Each time he shattered a shell, another would quickly move in to replace it! This barrier was made of over 15 turtle shells and this was just per layer, the kid with the phantom king's ability safely hidden in two extra layers and he is yet to destroy the first layer, leaving 12 shells left.
Knowing his attempts to capture Dan was futile he turned his attention towards Zero and roared viciously, storming towards him. Zero on his own side was as pale as a sheet of paper! The combat technique he used now was incomplete and he was even lacking enough spirit energy to use this ability, yet he forced himself out of desperation. At this point, he could barely stand, he could only watch the man approach him with a weak smile on his face.
"We win…" Zero said confidently with a weak smile on his face!
Bang!!!
When the man heard these words he suddenly became terrified and wanted to retreat but it was too late. A fist shrouded in brown energy struck his side mercilessly and he was sent flying towards the glass wall. He shattered the glass wall upon contact and fell of the seven-story building, turning into a bloody paste the moment he hit the earth!
The last thing he saw was the vicious smiles on the faces of the four kids whom he was meant to monitor closely through Chairman Zhao Ling. If he didn't take action without confirmation or orders from above he wouldn't have ended this way. The main reason he died in this battle was the same as the yellow belt assassin! They didn't go all out from the very beginning and looked down on these kids!
Even if they could deal with Zero and Akila whose abilities are more straightforward, they should have been wary of Kira and Dan, those two are more tricky to handle than the others. In the end, he failed to report back to his superiors and lost his life at the hands of four thirteen-year-old students who just awakened their abilities just a few days ago.
Shameful….
