Chapter 23: Closure

The strong wind blew up Zero's shirt and his snow-white hair fluttered in the wind violently as he fell down without any resistance.

"Defensive combat technique: Turtle shell!" Zero roared just the moment he was about to hit the ground and the barrier set up by him smashed into the ground in his stead.

Even though he wasn't the one that hit the ground, he still felt light-headed and his vision blurred. He leaned on the massive building and rested a bit.

Since his physique was bad, he wasn't as fit as the rest. It took him close to a minute to stabilize his breathing before dashing towards the villa entrance.

According to his memories, his encounter with the yellow belt assassin, coupled lasted for quite a while since both sides were reluctant to make a move first. They only won smoothly because the assassin got too cocky and let them attack first.

Considering how much time they spent that time compared to now, he was still a minute ahead.

Back then, their abilities had not even reached the infant stage so they didn't dare lend their parents a hand since they were all week. But now, things are different!

His abilities were at the Mid-tier of the infant phase while the others were at a decent level as well, even if they can't stand against these people they should be able to help in some way. They just had to help! He was not willing to let his parents die at the hands of the god sect twin masters again without throwing a punch.

.......................................

Two men dressed in Japanese kimono retreated frantically as four elderly mean charged forward. These four were injured at numerous spots but a vicious smile remained on their faces as they chased after their foes and engaged them in a bloody battle.

"HAHAHA!!! Does the god sect dare to attack us in the Liberation Union? You have become really bold!!!" A black-haired man with glowing purple eyes roared and raised his hands into the air.

Wooosh!

Wooosh!!

Wooosh!!!

In the blink of an eye, over a hundred purples daggers twirled around the man and proceeded to surround the two members of God sect, blocking their means of escape.

Bam!

With that taken care of, a tan skin-colored man who had a muscular appearance despite his age stomped the earth and shot forward like a rocket appearing in front of the bald member of the god sect.

Roar!!

With a roar, his muscles began bulging as he struck forward at the man's head but to his greatest surprise, the man had already for seen this move and proceeded to tilt his head to the left but shockwave from the attack was enough to throw the man off balance, forcing him to retreat by a few steps.

"Shatter!" The purple-eyed man roared and the purple daggers dove down and completely swarmed the bald master.

"Not good enough!" The bald master sneered as his eyes let out a terrifying glow.

Peng!

Peng!!

Peng!!!

Even though numerous purple daggers rained down on him, the man didn't panic. While walking on his toes, he danced around gracefully evading all that came his way.

Meanwhile….

The second master of the God sect retreated repeatedly as he escaped the numerous balls of fire. He kept mumbling some strange words and the forces nature desperately tried to defend him.

The earth rose at critical moments to block the red flaming balls, water torrents emerged from thin air and assaulted the Asian looking man who utilized the fireballs while wind blades and blue bolts of lightning prevented the old man who kept phasing through things from getting close to him.

The battle was a tie but the victory was tilting towards the direction of the four elderly men.

"Even if you have broken into the disaster realm, it's still a hundred years too early for the God sect to challenge us" The phantom king sneered.

"This enmity, this war… it will all end here and now!" The red aired fiery demon of the liberation union laughed as he used his blood flames to consume the water torrent.

"I agree!" A voice appeared from the darkness and a figure shot out like an arrow.

His movements were so smooth and slick, that it looked like he was slithering like a serpent.

Hisssssss!

"Combat technique: Demonic fiery serpent venomous strike!"

Kaido reached the stunned master of the god sect and struck forward with both hands covered in blood flames. An illusion of a powerful red demonic serpent accompanied the loud hiss as it flew towards the man's throat!

"You dare!" The man's eyes let out a terrifying glow as he used his aura alone to send Kira flying! His body slammed into the ground violently and the back of his head busted open!

The difference in strength was just too much!

Wooooosh!

A figure suddenly appeared behind the man with a retractable dagger in his hand, stabbing towards the man's skull. His movements were so swift and natural, it looked as if he has done this a thousand times.

Bang!

The master of the twin god sect was also a master in martial arts. His figure turned into a golden blur as he evaded the stab and his fist struck Dan in the chest, sending him flying three meters away!

Puti!

Dan rolled on the ground a couple of times, spitting out a mouthful of blood before he finally stopped moving. The hit caused a lot of internal injuries, with his weak body, death was the only option.

Roar!!!

Akila roared furiously as he shot forward and struck towards the man recklessly. The man simply shoved his hands aside and slapped his head away with one attack. With that, a headless body moved a few steps forward before falling to the ground!

.........…

At this time Zero appeared only to see the three bodies of his best friends. His eyes were moist and it reddened. It was obvious these three had the same thoughts as him and attacked these beings. All they wanted to do was be of use to their parents, maybe if they were a bit stronger, they would still be alive.

Zero stared at them and he noticed his dad could not even see him, there seem to be some limitations to this illusion since only the god sect masters could see him.

A sour smile bloomed on his face as he wiped away a tear that escaped his right eye and let out a roar, grabbing the void.

A purple dagger appeared in his hands as he shot towards his foes with fearless eyes. Upon arrival, everything turned black and he didn't even know how he died. All he felt was a sense of closure and satisfaction that he and his friends were no longer a burden to their parents in this fight. At least, they were able to fight alongside them and die by their side as well.

"Thank you…" For the first time in a while, Zero said those words. It wasn't meant for anyone special, in fact, his thanks were directed to the dusk demon that brought back these memories. He felt sincerely grateful to it.
