The Liberation union academy had straight forward policy and rules which only favored the strong. The system is solely focused on nurturing the strong, leaving the weak behind to rot.
The rules of the jungle are well accepted here!
With the school as their main and probably only source of acquiring cultivation materials, the team began gathering information on the working system of the school. Since Zero was too weak to come out in public and it wasn't really compulsory to attend theory classes, the team gave themselves a weak break. They used this time to gather as much information as they could on the institution while they also pushed aside the scavenger guilds matter for a while.
The reward for their successful triumph over the dusk demon was a low-grade spirit essence. This item is practically a contained purified spirit energy core of magic beasts which can be used to refill ones spirit energy as well as upgrade their spirit energy level but the improvement is so little that people don't bother with it at all unless they are spirit essences of high-level magic beasts. Since they had no use for the item, they gave it to Zero for him to use it and quicken his spirit energy recovery.

"The academy grades the worth of their students through internal and external competitions… There are so many of them that involve the top schools in the country" Akila exclaimed as he read through the reports they received.
"Yea, but this is limited to only top students on the main campus…. Those of us at the outer campus have limited choices and the resources we gain are quite small compared to the main campus…" Dan said with furrowed eyebrows.
Apparently the liberation union is divided into two campuses, the outer and main campus. The outer campus is meant for aspiring guardians, the campus is meant for youths with special abilities, while the main campus is created to nurture superhumans who are already strong enough to become guardians! The main campus is only reserved for super-powered humans with monstrous potentials, only those who can make it to the B ratings and above can be admitted into the main campus.
"I guess we will have to focus on solidifying our position as the elite class strongest… we need to become the most outstanding students in the outer campus" Dan flicked his hair back as he spoke. His eyes showed a hint of excitement and his hands slightly held on to the report.
"It won't be as easy as you think… I too have been observing the top students of the outer campus… these people have spent years here and have solidified their foothold… it won't be easy for us to deal with groups like this…" Zero voice could be heard but his footsteps were completely silent. The sudden change stunning everyone in the seating room. If Zero didn't talk no one would have realized he was walking down the stairs.
Zero looked slightly better but he was yet to fully recover, his movements were more graceful now and his purple eyes darted around the room occasionally as if he was searching for something.
"This academy is not as simple as you think, factions, local cliques, cults, they have it all… going up against one means going up against all…. Just like us, almost everyone here possesses profound backgrounds, our status won't save us here… the only thing we can rely on now is our own strength… I advise we strengthen ourselves and improve our combat experience with the scavenger guild before we make our move against the whole academy" Zero pulled a chair over casually and sat. His body wasn't as lean and as weak as before! The change may be minor but the other three noticed.
"Dude… What happened to you?" Akila asked with raised eyebrows.
"Yea, you look like a completely different person… what happened to you back there…" Kira asked.
"Are you alright?" Dan inquired with furrowed eyebrows.
Hearing them throw such questions at him, Zero could only chuckle lightly while thinking of a way to explain everything to these guys.
"Well… I have never felt better…" Zero said while flexing his underdeveloped muscles.
"Yo! Come on… what happened with you and the dusk demon?" Kira asked with knitted eyebrows.
"Yea… tell us.." Akila nodded as he spoke.
"Let's just say I fell into the demon dusk's illusion without knowing… I relieved our parent's final moments… but this time, we decided to join hands and help them instead of watching them die… It ended in all four of use being gruesomely murdered at the hands of the God sect twin masters… we lost, yes but I had no regret! After that I was pulled into the darkness where a voice kept scolding me on my inabilities and my choice to become the team's shield instead of its spear… the voice was pretty annoying but it did make some valid points and gave me a few pointers on how to utilize my spirit energy to improve my body… It's just like Akila… he never works out but he keeps getting more buff as time goes on… Apparently, skillfully passing one's spirit energy through the acupuncture points of the body helps develop it slightly…. This is a very painful method but it does work…" Zero spat it all out at once, choosing not to hide a thing.
There was silence for a while as everyone tried to digest everything Zero said. Concerning their parents, they weren't moved much, if they were in a similar situation, they would have done the same thing regardless of whether they die or not. As for the voice, this was a bit more tricky and hard to understand.
"Being able to reveal exactly everything that happened the day our parents died…. I still fail to understand how the dusk demon could access my memories to create such an illusion…" Zero said absentmindedly.
"I don't really remember the dusk demon possessing such crazy abilities… Maybe its something no one knew of" Akila closed his eyes as he thought deeply on Zero's words.
