Chapter 26: Plan B (1)

After acquiring their rewards the team left the scavenger guild head quarters and headed home with disappointed expressions on their faces. Apparently, the reward for E rank missions are terribly poor and even if the scavenger decides to exchange it for money, it still won't fetch them much.

In their own opinions, the mission was a complete waste of time! Not only was their foe so weak that someone like Dan who had close to zero combat skills could surpass it in terms of strength and speed, truly the demon dusk could be considered one of the weakest magic beasts.

How can something so weak be so rare?

The three did not duel on this thought for too long as they were curious as to what kind of visions Zero was forced to see that could weaken him greatly! The kid was the one member in the team whose mental strength was leaps and bounds ahead of that of people their age.

If just a few minutes in the dusk demons illusions can weaken him to this extent, they probably wont last even up to a minute!

Another thing that disturbed them greatly was the sudden outburst of unusual power from Zero. The aura which he used was still his but something seemed a bit different about him. Maybe it was his temperament or just his murderous intentions flowing out rapidly but in a way, they all felt threatened by him at that very moment. Even the mysterious and blood thirsty Dan was a bit terrified at that time!

Akila's reinforcement ability is simply the ability to strengthen ones body through the use of spirit energy. With this one can increase their physical strength and speed by leaps and bounds, making them look like super men and women when going against mortals or even super powered beings. This is a very simple concept but something extremely hard to achieve, the only advantage Akila and his family has over others was that their body was specifically designed for this power, their acupuncture points and even their physique was built to be able to endure the process! Should any normal person try to utilize their spirit energy in a similar way, they may end up hurting themselves badly, in some occasions, they may even end up crippling their own cultivation in the process, but this does not mean it cannot be done.

Over the years, many scientists who study super humans have been interested in Akila's reinforcement super ability, right from the day when his father made a name for himself. Since that time, multiple theories on how any super human may be able to replicate the same feats and achievements have been made public but all those who dared to try always ended up in a very bad condition. Some lost their hands, some lost more than a limb, some died outright while a larger number destroyed their own cultivation in the process! None have succeed until today!

Seeing Zero replicate his ability, Akila felt thrilled but slighty threatened. If Zero can fill up his position as the muscles of the team, what does that make him?

Doesn't that mean he has no place in the team anymore? The fact that Zero was able to reinforce his entire body as well added to his annoyance. All this while he has been stuck at reinforcing an arm or two and then someone comes along from nowhere and completely surpasses him.

"Lets leave that for later…" Akila breathed out heavily while he spoke to the other two.

"Yea, we can speak to him concerning this issue later when he's well rested… Maybe he will be willing to open up then…" Dan said calmly.

"And what if he doesn't?" Akila asked with furrowed eyebrows.

"Chill, its Zero we are talking about here… No matter what we are family, he wont forget that easily… Once we approach him at the right time and place, he will surely open up, especially if we show him how serious we are concerning the issue…" Kira threw a playful punch at Akila's shoulder and laughed playfully.

Akila only chuckled slightly at his actions and nodded in agreement. He shoved the matter to the back of his mind and stared outside the tinted window of the moving car.

.........…....................................….

The day passed by really fast, maybe too fast. Zero slept most of the time and only came down for breakfast before going back up. He looked paler than usual and his eyes looked sunken, as if he hasn't slept for weeks, his movements were unusually slow and some times he even staggered slightly.

There was no light in his eyes.

The group ate silently while they listened to the evening news. Apparently their debut as official scavengers was known by all after they successfully took down the dusk demon. Even though this magic beast was rated 'E', its psychic ability was still considered a major threat even by numerous high ranking guardians. The world knew they found a way to defeat the dusk demon but they still didn't know how, it seemed as if the scavenger guild kept most of the information confidential and only scratched the surface. The world didn't know of Zero's condition and they decided to keep it that way. All forms of interview and meetings were turned down, not even the school was allowed to check up on them.

Team oscuro acquired five points for completing an E rated mission. To advance from the bronze level to the silver level, they need to accumulate about ten thousand points. Seeing how much point an E rated mission gives, made them feel utterly helpless. Unless they can push their teams level from the bronze to the silver level, they will never be able to get their hands on the top tier cultivation materials of the scavenger guild. To do this and shorten the length of time needed, they can need to find a way to increase their strength, that way they can confidently challenge higher rated tasks.

Since the scavengers association was not exactly as rosy as they expected, they can only shift their attention to plan B.

Monopolizing the schools resources using stunning performances!
