Chapter 59: He must be put down!

"What do you mean by cooperating with me?" Zero was a bit confused and he still failed to understand how a voice in his head could help him.

"I'm not just a voice, human…" the dusk demon's voice carried hints of anger. The dusk demon could easily hear Zero's thoughts with its psychic powers, so it was annoyed by the fact that Zero still considered it as just a voice.

Considering the dusk demon's words, Zero realized something. If this magic beast was honest about its existence in his mind, it meant that the dusk demon can be considered as a second soul in his body. This meant the dusk demon was capable of taking charge of his body, but if it could do this, why hasn't it done it in the past? Either way, it didn't matter, there was no way Zero was going to let a magic beast take control of his body, he would rather die!

"I know you can read my thoughts and you already have my answer…. I won't let you have this body even if it means dying at the hands of that bastard! Zero gritted his teeth and his eyes filled with enough determination to overwhelm the dusk demon's control over his emotions.

{Strong willed… A powerful special ability and decent talent… this one is a keeper… if I can create a stable relationship with him, I may be able to find the other surviving members of my race, and only then will we be able to reclaim our place as the rulers of this continent!} the dusk demon pondered on this for a while, picking its words carefully before it chose to speak.

"Dummy and who said I intent to take control of your body? That would be too selfish of me… I will simply act as support…" The dusk demon's eyes let out a red glow as it spoke but that still wasn't enough to make someone like Zero flinch.

"Support? And how do you intend to help me from here?" Zero was slightly confused so he couldn't help but ask.

"An average human can barely utilize up to eighty percent of their true strength unless they are in danger and adrenaline kicks in… all these are psychological barriers the mind set up to protect our body from the injuries and strain the body will sustain if it should go hundred percent… I call it the limiters… What I will do at this moment is remove your limiters and let you run wild for as long as the battle lasts" The dusk demon released a light chuckle while saying the last part but Zero didn't mind.

"That sounds amazing but aren't there some drawbacks? That must be why these limiters exist" Zero asked but the dusk demon only laughed at his question.

"You may be crippled for a while, rendered immobile but one thing for sure is you won't die… isn't that way better than dying at the hands of that kid?" The dusk demon chuckled. Even though Zero wasn't fully in agreement with the plan he couldn't deny the fact that this was better than getting killed.

"Why are you helping me?" Zero asked.

Even with all this, he really couldn't understand why the dusk demon would go out of its way to help him. It could easily jump to another body with its psychic abilities but it chose to stay and lend a hand. He just couldn't understand why a magic beast would choose to save a human responsible for its death.

"Don't get the wrong idea, you are the ideal host so I don't really wish to see you die… also who said you won't owe me a favor after this? I definitely won't let this chance slip away and finally, there is something about that kid that seems off… It's not him, something else in him that just doesn't seem to exist in this world… My instincts tell me that if he isn't put down soon, this world will suffer at his hands… And there you have it, do you have any more questions?" the dusk demon asked with a light chuckle. Even though it was smiling it was dead serious about the bad feeling it kept getting about Shi Jia. Unknown to the dusk demon, this was because Shi Jia's soul didn't belong to this world. Apparently, someone transmigrated and took control of the body, and also the system in it was another thing that made the dust demon feel restless whenever Shi Jia was around. It decided this kid has to be put down soon.

"Yes… one more, Do you really think we can win against him?" Zero asked with his fighting spirit blazing brightly in his eyes.

"Who do you think I am? I have a little gift for our friend over here… as for victory, I can't really say but one thing for sure is that we definitely will not lose!" the dusk demon responded.

"That's good enough for me!" Zero chuckled!
