Chapter 53 At wrong place at the wrong time again

The Scouts of Idyll Church ignored the Large lizard man as the monster obviously wasn't with the heretics nor did it seem like one of the abominations that came from the mountains.

They tried to resume their original task and look for more of the heretics but then a large explosion in the distance caught their attention.

The ground shook beneath their feet as a red and green cloud rose into the sky taking the form of a mushroom as arcs of lightning formed above it.

Since this was something they had never seen in their lifetime, the followers of Idyll church moved closer.

As they did, the group found that countless trees were withering away because of something, the animals around them formed strange protrusions on their flesh with many more laying dead on the desolate ground.

Some kind of Poison? or Disease?

This was already a bad sign, however, due to their extraordinary bodies that had been tempered so heavily, none of them were scared of mere poisons even less so for diseases.

Thus they ventured closer before finally reaching the contaminated area.

Hundreds of scorched skeletons on the end of the explosion with thousands of these mysteriously green puddles which caked the area, there were no living beings within the area, something about this place made them uneasy as nausea assaulted their senses.

This made the group decide to leave this devastated area.

Not without hearing a growl that made them feel like children being hunted down by some large animal.

This caused them to group together, covering each other's blindspots while leaving the area yet despite their preparations for whatever it was, there was no signs of it nor did it decide to attack them causing them to be confused and fearful as they retreated.

Meanwhile, The being that brought them so much fear was lurking in the shadows keeping its blue eyes locked on to their location.

It was Mikhail who reacted to the symbol that was engraved onto their clothes and armor.

It was the very same one that belonged to the church that put the psychic on a stake then burned him to death after crippling their so-called goddess, the fight had weakened Mikhail allowing them the best chance of using it to maximize their influence.

They reaped the profits after the three weeks-long deathmatch between Mikhail and the so-called goddess

Not knowing that their beloved goddess had fallen already~

Getting burned on a stake was a long and agonizing way to die, Mikhail can say that since he learned it first hand.

If that crippled goddess's influence reached this world then Mikhail will fully enjoy destroying whatever remnants of her power that lingered about!

"Let's set up camp here, we need to gather our strength for our task."

The warrior dressed in gothic-styled heavy armor continued while putting his hands together in prayer.

"May the lord of Idyll continue to provide a path for us!"

His name was Judop, one of the high Priests of the church.

Upon hearing these words, the others repeated the prayer as their blind faith instilled them to do so, it also gave them warmth and comfort.

One of the leading scouts, a woman in her mid-twenties pulled down her facemask while looking up to the sky, with her raven hair braided together dangled outside of her hood and padded leather armor set that hid her curves and frame well added her input for what to prepare for.

"Judging from how the sky looks, we might have a storm coming upon us."

After an hour of leaving the area that was devastated by the nuclear explosion, the group of Idyll followers began setting up camp since it was getting dark, much darker than usual for some reason.

"Scout team, set up a perimeter and prepare the dome."

The woman nodded before pulling out a small weighing scale and placed in the center of the camp while the other scouts pulled out similar objects and placed them at the edge of the perimeter.

They began singing praises to the lord of their faith as the scales began to rattle and shake in place before they glowed brightly, then a yellow film made of pure aura quickly took form and mixed together to create a dome that was big enough to cover half a football field!

This was an aura dome created to lessen the chance of sneak attacks and to keep anything and anyone from getting too close to the camp, with a second one underneath it, was something that came to mind after remembering that moment that made their hairs stand on end.

Those that were outside of the dome needed to break it first before they could reach them, at least in normal cases.

As even with their precaution, an invisible entity teleported into the dome and moved to one of the humans that was alone.

One of the scouts was up in the trees keeping an eye out, while the others prepared the camp, there was a sound of cloth flapping behind that made him quickly turn with his bow drawn but something grabbed it before a large gray hand latched on to his face then pulled him away from the spot!

There were no other noises that followed as the rest of the group continued doing their tasks.

But the scout was back in the tree leaning his back against the trunk, there were no signs of injuries, however, his eyes rolled up, with his jaw hanging open made it clear that he was dead if you had a closer look.

Soon, a few more of the other scouts suffered the same fate!

This was Mikhail making full use of his psychic abilities despite it being much weaker than his current power.

He learned this method in one of his transitions, where he had no army to lead, his powers were restricted and due to his unique energy signature, every other faction wanted to either kill him or study him!

The Psychic suffered a whole decade of experimentation and torture with the minimum amount of access to all psychic abilities available, so he had to make use of how to maximize the damage done with the limited amount of control that was given to him.

Artificial aneurysms, ice needles through the ears, burning the brain through the nose, calcification of major organs with a touch, and other interesting ways, making him a formidable killer even with weakened psychic abilities~

Thus those that were mentioned were applied to the scouts and none of them were able to do anything, Mikhail wanted to vent a little while getting rid of the troublesome ranged attackers before slaughtering the warriors to test the body of a Brute.

However, such plans are never easy to complete without interruptions.

Six humanoids reached the outer rims of the campsite, which alerted the others then in turn made the warriors call out to the scouts that had been killed.

The very first one to yell out ready to stretch his body was the high priest!

"Scouts, ASSEMBLE FOR BATTLE!"

But a few seconds went by, and only three scouts emerged including the female leader who was first to understand that something happened behind the scenes, she was trained to be that perceptive to situations, especially one as grave as this.

The other two scouts quickly noticed the reaction of their leader, making them assume the worst already as they were mostly numb to this experience since it happened countless times before.

Soon enough, the female scout exclaimed.

"High Priest Judop, some of our people had been slain!"

The leader was not happy to hear this, even more so when there was still so much that needed to be done!

He needed to unleash his anger right here, right now.

Who would work better than the newcomers?

Who cares if they are innocent?

Who cares if they were at the wrong place at the wrong time?

All that mattered now was that they were here, abominations, outside the norm and he needed a scapegoat to kill.

Who knows, maybe one of them was the culprit, if so, that would make things so much more satisfying!

Mikhail, at the moment, was watching this trying to recall where has he seen this group from, once he remembered, a wry smile formed on this psychic's face as he said one thing.

"Whoops~"
