Man to man

"Amanda! what do you think you are doing with that, a gun isn't a toy. Drop that and come down here immediately!"

"My God are you daft? Which part of I'm not your daughter Amanda do you not understand? I replied

"The very part about you not being Amanda. Do you think this is a game? You could get seriously hurt. Now come down here and let me give you your medicine but first drop that gun on the floor!"

"For the last and final time i am not Amanda, my name is Samuels"

"Samuels right, so what are you, a demon? A spirit? Are you possessing my daughter's body or something?" Said Brian in a condescending tone.

"You cant begin to comprehend how my being here is even possible, not for a few decades at least" i replied

"Oooh, is that so, then tell me Samuels since when did you start quote unquote pretending to be my daughter?"

"Not long, just two days and I've even been unconscious for half of it"

Brian took another step higher

"What did i say about getting closer, don't think you are too smart. There is about a fifteen steps distance between you and me and don't forget that i have the perfect hostage with me?"

"Perfect hostage? What do you mean by the perfect hostage?" Asks Brian

"Common, think about it. What do you think is the perfect hostage for someone who has lost more than half of his family? The remaining love one they have left"

"..." A second of hesitation

"OK I'll bite. Lets say that i believe all your anteacts and exclude the thought of this being an inappropriate prank or the possibility that your brain pains have caused you to have a second personality as a way to cope with it. Lets say i believe, so whats your plan? What could you possibly want?"

"What i want?"

"Yes, why are you doing all this"

I smiled and started tapping the frame rail of the handgun on the first floor handrail. I leaned in forward and pressed my weight on the handrail supporting myself with my elbows

"What i want is the Dot Log Blackbox for workers codes" i replied

"The Blackbox? What could you possibly want with that?"

"Well that's for me to know and for you to shut up and do what i tell you to"

Riiiiiinnnggg, riiiiiinnnggg

The landline started to ring out. It rang for 2 minutes then went to voicemail

"Mr Nevel its doctor Bright Miracle from Glory land hospital. I'm calling in regards to Amanda's brain results. Remember what i said about her having two sets of brain waves, well after taking a full body scan and correlating the result with that of the MRI scans it appears that the first and active brainwave which is sending signals to underdeveloped portion of her brain and causing the headache is not Amanda's but from a foreign source whose signal is being received through the Dot Log chip behind her ear. It is this high frequency signal that is suppressing her own brainwave and its just an hypothesis but the seizures could be caused when Amanda's original waves try to force the foreign signs out and regain control. If we allow this continue the results could be adverse. I suggest that she gets her chip deactivated and get a new one implanted"... BEEP

Brian looked at the landline as the message stopped then he looked at me. We were caught in a stare down.

"I guess you must be the foreign signal whose origins are unknown"

"You could say that"

"If you want the Blackbox so badly then why don't you just get it yourself?"

"You think i haven't tried that? Why do you think i was so intent on following you to that stupid father and daughter's day nonsense, which was horrible if i must add"

"..." Brian was left without a response

"This body isn't really made for covert tasks like that. I mean i did the best i could but no, the fucking universe couldn't just throw a fella a bone ones in a while"

"Well i'm sorry Mr Samuels was it but i cant get the Blackbox for you"

I stood up properly

"It looks like you still think that i'm joking"

With the gun in my right hand i covered the muzzle with my left palm, pointed to the side and fired a bullet right through my palm and into the hallway

"JESUS CHRIST!"

"Amanda!"

Both i and Brian shouted in unison

"What do you think you're doing!" Brian continued

"That was just a w-w-w- a warning shot. I shot in between the bone and avoided any nerves s-so the hand should still be fine with some bandage"

The blood from my left hand was dripping profusely to the floor

"Are you focused now? That was just the sixth bullet, i still have two left, the next time you fail to comply one of them goes into your daughter's thigh and you don't want to know what would happen if you fail to comply a third time"

I placed the gun between my thighs and held it there, reached for the cloth i got earlier from the kitchen and used it to wrap around to bullet hole then i taped it tight with the roll of tape from Brian's room.

Brian stood in absolute befuddlement looking at me from the bottom of the stairs. I finished taping the injured hand then i pulled out the gun from between my legs all the while clenching my teeth together because of the pain.

My original body had a bullet wound so the pain wasn't something new to me but the sensitivity of a ten years old girls skin amplified the pain at least twice making it a new sensation to me

I pressed the muzzle of the gun to my left thigh and asked the question again

"You are going to head straight for the GHA headquarters and use your identification and high ranks to get into the black room, download the Blackbox code into a flash drive and come back here without anybody else being the wiser. Are you or are you not?"

"Y-yes" he answered

He clenched his fists. He turned around and went into his room to get a change of clothes and his car keys then came back into the living room and held the door by the knob.

"And just a friendly reminder, if you get an itch or the idea pops into your mind and you decide to deactivate Amanda's Dot Log chip while you are at the Headquarters instead of doing what i asked you just know that there is always a consequence for every action. You should know that three seconds is enough for me to press the gun against my head and pull the trigger. Off course nothing will happen to my mind but Amanda on the other hand..."

'needles to say i'm only bluffing but you don't need to know that. I couldn't possibly take the life of anyone let alone a child even if it's to save a larger number'

"Look at who is talking about actions and consequences" Brian mumbled to himself as he exited through the front door.

He drove to work, did his normal routine walking through the walkway. That kid Prince Michaels was there ranting like usual, this seemed to be his usual early morning exercise instead of going to school.

Brian looked at him through the sides of his eye and remembered the encounter he, Prince and Amanda had the day of Father and daughter celebration.

He walked over to the new aged prophet

"Hey kid"

"Yes? Ooo its you Mr" replied Princess "what about your daughter?"

"About that, remember what you said about her being someone else?"

"Yes? What of it? Did something happen and now you believe me?" He smirked

"Maybe but why did you say that in the first place. How could you of all people possibly know that, I'm her father after all but the thought of someone else pretending to be my daughter didn't cross through my mind for a moment"

"That's just it, sometimes our love and admiration for someone envelops our minds eye and we don't see them changing into someone else which in your case was a literal change into somebody else"

"I know this and as a father i should be ashamed but how did you..."

"Lets just say i see and feel these things and lets leave it at that"

"Is that right, OK. You sound too mature for your age, are you sure you aren't someone pretending to be a little kid? Where are your parents?"

"My parents? Both of them, mom and dad are both dead. I'm an orphan. I thought you already knew this by the way i dress and by my being here everyday"

"I'm sorry, i didn't know. How long have they been..."

"That's a story for another time and something tells me that you have something else really important to do. More important than listening to an old tale"
