The Moutain

Logan: "SHIT!!!" Logan shouted as he fell down a massive ravine with broken wings; golden flames burning brightly like a signal pyre as he tried desperately to heal them as he fell. "Shite, shit, shit..."

.

Thinking quickly, Logan used his ash to latch onto a side of the ravine and sling himself over to a jutting outcrop. However, the sling and fall did more damage than he had thought as he hit the ledge hard enough to crack a few bones. The impact was enough for him to cry out in pain as he lay there and let his gold flames envelop his entire body.

.

Logan: 'Fuck, that hurt.' Logan thought as he stared up from where he had fallen. "At least I'm still breathing, though that rock hurt like a bitch when it smashed into my wing joints. Well, I'm alive and I'm healing. Now what?'

.

As Logan lay there and let his gold fire heal his body faster than his aura could, he planned out what would be next. Soon, Logan felt his bones mend and his bruises disappear as his thoughts formed a plan. Sitting up greeted Logan with his wings popping back into place with an audible crack and pop. Logan shivered both at the noise it made and the feeling of it.

.

"That hurt," Logan grumbled to himself.

.

Getting up, Logan hid his wings and made two icepicks out of his ash as he walked to the edge of the platform. Not wanting to risk his wings getting hit again as he flew up, Logan opted for the slower approach. Sighing, Logan hung off the edge and began the slow climb up. What was supposed to be a recon mission turned into a full-on assault with no warning whatsoever.

.

The mission in question was a simple aerial recon over a mountain range that was suspected to have been hiding the Grimm Titan, the Mountain. A Geist that managed to possess a small mountain that then turned into a walking nest for Grimm. Logan had just flown over an unassuming mountain when he was shot at by Cenitaurs with their acid spit. That was when the mountain began to rumble and shake as it stood up on four massive legs. When Logan went to swoop down to take out the Cenitaurs, he was assaulted by Harpies and Lancers that tried to overwhelm him. Trying to take cover and outmaneuver them while picking off as many as he could, Logan flew under the Mountain as it started to move.

.

Logan managed to shake them off but a falling rock managed to clip his wings and break bones, causing Logan's current predicament. By the time Logan had reached the top of the ravine, he could see that the Mountain had moved a considerable distance away already. Moving with a speed Logan couldn't believe with its size and weight.

.

Logan: 'Welp, there go my paycheck.' Logan thought as he pulled himself up out of the ravine. 'All those plans Ironwood had to bombard the thing are going to have be redone with it on the move. He's going to give me hell for this, I know he is.' He grumbled to himself. "How the hell was I supposed to know that it had a QRF like the Kingdoms do?'

.

As Logan grumbled to himself, he opened his freshly healed wings and flew off to Atlas. Sighing as Logan knew that the report he was going to make be a pain and full of a lot of yelling.

.

Ironwood: "How could you mess this up?" Ironwood sighed after getting Logan's report.

Logan: "How was I supposed to know that it had a QRF and that the Mountain was a coward that ran at the first sign of trouble?" Logan countered.

Ironwood: "Logan, without the proper targeting data, we can't launch an attack." Ironwood sighed. "We needed that data."

Logan: "What do you want? A sorry?" Logan scoffed. "I approached, was attacked, then chased, then I had to mend my broken bones as I watched the thing run away. I couldn't do much other than watch."

Ironwood: "I understand, Logan." Ironwood sighed yet again. "While your report is worthy of payment of a mission complete, I can't say you'll get the full payment for the mission you accepted. The most I can authorize is a third of the funds for it. That, and I hope you will accept the next mission for acquiring the targeting data for the Grimm Titan. We can't launch an attack without it or we may just end up losing countless lives for nothing." Ironwood stated. "You're dismissed."

.

Logan sighed and walked out after giving Ironwood a mock salute. Outside, Logan met up with Winter who was on her way to see Ironwood about the day-to-day operations. The two greeted each other with a simple nod of their heads before continuing on. Logan grunted as he walked the halls of Atlas academy. Not in the mood to deal with pompous fools who think far too highly of themselves, Logan found the nearest window and jumped out.

.

Logan: "I'm home!" Logan called out as he entered his dorm, not expecting what came next.

???: "Da..da!" A tiny and squeaky voice called out causing Logan to whip around.

.

There, Logan saw Glynda standing there with Dorothy in her arms with a teary smile on her face. It took Logan a second to put two and two together. He nearly fainted when he realized that Dorothy had just spoken and Glynda was happy beyond words. Dorothy herself had just turned thirteen months old and hadn't spoken until now. Logan quickly approached Dorothy and cooked over her as she giggled at his antics and waved her arms at him.

.

Logan: "Second word?" Logan asked as he took Dorothy into his arms while scratching her chin.

Glynda: "No, her first." Glynda told him.

Logan: "Really?" Logan asked surprised.

Glynda: "I think she knew when you were coming." Glynda told him. "She started crawling towards the door about a minute before you entered. I just had picked her up when you called."

Logan: "That just means she missed her dada." Logan chuckled. "Whose my baby girl?" Logan asked Dorothy as she giggled again.

Dorothy: "Da...da! Ma...ma!" Dorothy squeaked out, causing the two to stop and cook some more.

.

Logan sighed as he put Dorothy to bed that night, knowing he wouldn't be there in the morning as Magus had called him in for something. Glynda was willing to stay behind as he went to see what he wanted. So, with a sigh and an annoyed grunt, Logan kissed Glynda goodbye and flew off to the meet-up point where 02 was waiting for him. It took about an hour for Logan to get to the meet-up point and find 02, but once he did, Logan and 02 teleported to Magus' island hideaway.

.

Magus: "Logan, thank you for coming." Magus greeted Logan once they met. "We have an issue."

Logan: "What is it?" Logan asked, thinking that it couldn't be that bad.

Magus: "The last Maiden is located inside the Grimm Titan, as you call it, The Mountain." Magus dropped onto Logan.

Logan: "How?!" Logan nearly shouted.

Magus: "You remember Alica?" Magus asked to which Logan nodded. "She appears to be with Alica as we speak, inside The Mountain."

Logan: "So Alica has recovered and she has her captive?" Logan asked as he started to plan for his next confrontation with her.

Magus: "I'm afraid not," Magus told Logan, "It seems Alica chanced upon her and convinced her that we're after their heads due to them being unique or something along those lines. 01 is currently resting from being in a fight against the two of them and nearly dying." He explained. "01 just managed to teleport out before they could finish her off."

Logan: "That's..." Logan grimaced.

.

Logan knew that 01 had a few hundred years or more of experience worth of combat. While the others weren't as experienced, Logan had sparred against them a few times to hone his skills. 01 was the de facto strongest, second only to Magus himself. That alone was more than enough to take this serious more than ever.

.

Logan: "How bad was she?" Logan asked, hoping the condition of 01 would tell him how good or bad they worked together.

Magus: "She had numerous cuts, bruises, and a few broken bones as physical damage." Magus explained. "But her mana was nearly depleted and both her arms were shriveled up like raisins."

Logan: "Alica's semblance is a vampire-type." Logan clarified. "01's arms shriveling is due to her using it in tandem with her magic. I had to use my golden flames to counteract the effects."

Magus: "We had to cut her arms off and regenerate them since we couldn't counteract it." Magus told Logan. "But, it seems that your semblance and magic can counteract hers. A boon to be sure."

Logan: "Experience from fighting her before." Logan scoffed. "But, had I known about that, I would have come if you had called."

Magus: "An oversight on our part." Magus spoke regretfully. "But now that we know, once 01 is fully healed, the two of you can fight them more effectively."

Logan: "What about our chances of talking them down?" Logan asked a question he had just thought of.

Magus: "I highly doubt it considering we tried to get Alica on our side before." Magus stated. "She nearly got 02 with her semblance and magic if he had not teleported out of there before she could."

.

Logan just sighed, guessing what Magus' thoughts were. He was contemplating whether or not it would have been a good idea to have had 02 gather combat data from Alica before even though he wasn't the best for the role. But, errant thoughts aside, Logan continued with his talks with magus as they planned for when 01 was fully healed.

.

The talks ended with Logan getting more information on The Mountain, Alica, and the newest Fall Maiden. A girl named Anna Grace about twenty years of age with blonde hair and light brown eyes. Once Logan had gotten all the relevant information, he left after promising 03, who brought them tea, to bring both Dorothy and Glynda over sometime soon. Mentally cursing himself, knowing that they'll be coming home with more clothes if he wasn't there to stop them.

.

Once Logan was home, he changed and crawled into bed with his wife as the two embraced each other as they slept the night away. In the morning, Logan woke up to Dorothy laying on his chest and slapping his face with her puggy arms while Glynda held her steady. Logan booped Dorothy's nose and kissed Glynda as he got out of bed and got dressed for the day. But as Logan was cooking breakfast for him and Glynda, Salem and Ozpin burst through the front door and into the kitchen.

.

Logan: "This better be good." Logan growled out when he saw the two. "You spooked Dorothy and almost made her cry," Logan told them and pointed to a nearly crying Dorothy that Glynda was calming down.

Ozpin: "Logan, The Mountain is on the move towards Vale." Ozpin got out after taking a deep breath.

Logan: "Start talking, now!" Logan ordered as he put what he was cooking off the burner and took off his apron.

Salem: "One of Ironwood's drones spotted it off the coast of Atlas heading in Vale's direction." Salem explained as she sat down, out of breath from running there as fast as they could. "From how fast it was moving, we have about three weeks to prepare before it gets here. And the Island of Vytal has a little more then two weeks."

Logan: "Crap." Logan softly cursed since Dorothy was still in the kitchen. "Is it heading straight for Vale? Or is it going through Vytal before hitting Vale?"

Ozpin: "It will come within a 50 miles of Vytal, but will ultimately miss it completely." Ozpin explained. "There is a very good chance of Grimm swarming off of it and attacking Vytal due to the negative emotions once its been spotted."

Logan: "Get Ironwood on the line."
