About 1'o'clock in the afternoon, I was led back to the Ancestral Hall by Brood. Just like before, he stayed outside while I went inside. This time I saw my "Father's" portrait floating beside a colossal book which was also floating. Seeing me enter my father in the portrait waved his wand and chair materialized, and he motioned me to sit. After I sat, my "Father" spoke with a severe tone.
"Brax, before going through the Ritual, you have to know about certain things relating to rituals and why we use them. So listen carefully, this is very important."
Listening to the seriousness in his voice, I gave him a nod. Seeing this as affirmation my "Father" started speaking again,
"Brax, not all the wizards are born the same, regarding their magic. Some are born with a larger Magical pool than others, and even then the rate at which they increase their Magical pools during the Magical Maturity differs from one wizard/witch to another. These talents determine wizards/witches future."
After that, he stopped for a moment and checked my state of attention. Seeing that I was listening, he continued,
"The wizarding world discovered these talents and classified them into 3 Major talents and one minor talent. Only the minor talent can be trained, and the remaining 3 major talents are set in stone. No amount of training can improve these talents."
I interrupted him and asked him what those talents are. Seeing my impatience, he chuckled a bit and replied,
"I am coming there, Brax. The three Major Talents are (1) Size of Magical pool, (2) Rate of Magical Maturity, and (3) Magical Sensitivity. The Minor Magical talent is the Magical Control which can improve with certain exercises. Now, this is where Ritual Magicks come, and they can help you improve two of the Major Talents."
"What are those father?" I asked him.
To which he replied,
"Rituals can improve Size of Magical Pool and Rate of Magical Maturity. But it does not limit rituals to just enhancing Magical Talents, we can also use them to enhance physical attributes. Of a Wizard/Witch. There are even Rituals which provide you with Magical gifts."
His words got me thinking. If any of my magical talents have been cursed with "Average curse," Than the rituals will help me a lot. But the words Magical Gifts intrigued me. So I asked him,
"What are Magical Gifts father??".
Answering my question my father replied,
"There are several known Magical gifts Brax. For example, Parseltongue is a Magical gift which allows a wizard to speak to the snake species. There is also this Magical gift called Metamorphosis, which allows a wizard or which to change his body shape and appearance. Like this, there are several unique magical gifts. But Sadly, our family rituals are not focused on these."
Listening to him saying that our family rituals were not specialized in the Magical gifts, I deflated a bit. For a moment, I started daydreaming about getting my self metamorphosis ability and getting my "little brother" a makeover with that ability. Sighing to myself I asked him,
"What do we specialize in then??".
With a bit of pride in his voice, my "father" replied,
"We the SUMMERKING Family have spent centuries perfecting Rituals relating to Physical Enhancements and Magical Enhancements. Let me explain to you a bit about these rituals.
Physical rituals in our SUMMERKING FAMILY are the most diverse and are also the most potent. They can make a fragile wizard into an apex predator, and The Mind Enhancements rituals are the real jewels in our family knowledge. Magical Rituals of our family are also very impressive. These rituals Increase aspects such as the Size of the Magical pool, Magical maturity rate, and there are several other vital rituals that you will get to know when you are a little older. Are you able to understand what I am saying Brax??"
It seems like Rituals are OP, and my "father" seems to have only revealed the surface of this branch of magic. Replying to my "father's" question, I said,
"Yes, father. If rituals are so powerful than our family wizards must have been powerful, right??".
My "Father" listening to my question just sighed with a bit of sadness and said,
"That's where the third Major magical talent ,"Magical Sensitivity" comes into the picture. You see Brax. In Rituals, there is a principle called "Number Set." If you want to enhance a particular physical aspect or magical aspect, you can only do a finite number of Rituals to increase that specific aspect of enhancement. These Numbers are fixed is that you can only do rituals for a particular enhancement for "ONE" time or "THREE" times or "FIVE" times or "SEVEN" times. Every wizard has a fixed "Number set" while performing a Ritual on any enhancement. Now, which set you possess depends on your Talent of Magical Sensitivity."
Digesting everything my "Father" said. I cursed under my breath about this requirement for talent. Well, there seems to be no smooth passage for me. Just resigning to myself, I asked my "father."
"So father, how do we measure this talent?? Is there any specific way to get to know about our talent?"
My father pointed his hand towards the floating book and said,
"This my son is our Family grimoire. Very few families in the entire wizarding world have such Grimoires binding their family magic. Our Grimoire origins are unclear, but one of its functions is that it will access your blood to measure your talents and based on that it will give you the entire list of rituals that can be done on you.
Now I was looking at that Grimoire. It was bloody huge for a Grimoire. After observing it for a time, I can see a handprint on its leather cover along with what seemed to be a diamond at the top of it. So is the thing that will decide what my future will be. Just fucking great. Suddenly a thought ran through my head, and I turned towards my father and asked him,
"Father, what was your ,"Number Set"??".
Listening to my question my "Father" gave an awkward laugh and replied,
"Well, my talent was average for magical sensitivity. So my number Set was ONE. You need to have a good talent to have Number Set THREE, and Only a Wizard with an Extraordinary talent can have Number Set FIVE. And as far as we consider Number Set SEVEN, only our founding Ancestor STEFFEN SUMMERKING, who was once in a generation talent could do it. But since I had good talent in Magical Pool and Maturity Rate. Even though I could use only one ritual per an aspect of both physical and magical dimension. I was able to become a very accomplished Wizard. Very few wizards have a good talent in magical sensitivity. The last time our family produced such a wizard with number set THREE was back in the 1700s. So don't worry even if you have an average talent in all the three Major Talents with our family Rituals you will be a head above other wizards/witches."
After that, he stopped and looked at me and asked,
"So are you ready to know how gifted you are???".
At his question, I gulped and nodded my head. Seeing my nervousness, he gave a small laugh and tried to assure me by saying,
"Don't worry Brax irrespective of your talents you will have a great life with our family wealth and knowledge behind you. So get up and come place your hand on the grimoire."
I got up from my seat and started to walk towards the grimoire to embrace my Destiny as a Wizard.
