The Ring

Another week had passed.

Darwin was at his office, blankly staring at the engagement ring he had bought for Anna. He had given her as much space because it was what she wanted. However, every night, he never failed to park his car for at least an hour in front of her house.

It had been more than a month since he had felt Anna's touch. He was in pain, worst he had sleepless nights for days.

He heard a knock on the door and Heather came inside. He asked with a frown, "Heather? What are you doing here?"

Heather had been dropping by the office since they met, just merely asking to have lunch with him or dropping a gift. This time, she bought him cake.

"Darwin, I came to give you this. I won't take much of your time, just let me - "

"I have a meeting, Heather. You can take the cake back," said Darwin before getting up.

His assistant, Chloe, also came inside to remind him of his appointment. "Mr. Clark, the investors have arrived."
