Prologue

I opened my eyes and blinked a few times. I sense unfamiliarity, but I still cannot think straight about this feeling that makes me so uneasy. 

Who I am? Where am I? After the moment had passed, I got up from the bed and saw everything in a daze. I was in a single bed that was made from wood and a thin mattress. 

The smells of burning wood lingering and I saw a fireplace in the room. There are no memories in my head. 

I shake my head as hard as I can and hope that things will get back in place. And then I saw a piece of paper that crumbled at my hand.
 
“Dear Vierra, as you wish I erased your memory from your old life and granted you the cooking skills that will help you in this new world. And let the memory of your recipe from passed life remain. I Hope your new life will give you a better life. From me who cannot be named.”

I let out a heavy sigh. Is this some lame joke? There is a sling bag under the tiny table beside the bed. I found a diary with a name written in front of it. 

“Vierra Maverick”

World of Lost and Found

"I know you love to make food, and I want you to have your ingredients but it's a bit late now. I worried that we may have problem with anne if we not back home before dark"


I nodded and felt embarrassed by how he said that I love to make food. We walked through this small dirt road and finally we saw the river.


"It looks normal to me, but why did it suddenly rise to the shore and swim to the village."


"it's not. This black forest was down the hill and the village was quite far from this river"


Boru was going down to the river. He tastes the water and looks up at the sky. He then takes out his magic bean pouch and gets a golden gem.


"These gems can detect a magic item. Some items were hidden quietly underneath a cover. Usually it is not an item but its trace."


Boru takes out the gems inside the river. It glows and a blue and purple line appears under the water.


We headed to the waterfall and I can feel something is not right. I can see there was something sparkle behind the waterfall curtain. Boru instinctively makes both of us invisible. There was a secret cave behind the waterfall.


Like being directed by an unknown force, I got in and saw two small figures cuddling with each other. I ran towards them and Boru followed me close.


I touched their cheek and it felt cold. Boru checks their vitality and looks at me. I prayed that they still could be saved.


"We should get home and ask Anne to help them"


Boru was strong enough and carried them each with his hand. I looked around and saw a small pouch and took it with us.


Boru takes out a small pendant, he tells Anne to make a portal straight to home.


Anne sits at the bed. We place both of them together in a big size bed. Anne touched their forehead and a yellow light came out from her hand.


I could feel the warmth pierce into my heart. Anne gave a sorrow look. She then put their hand together in her palm.


"I am afraid they could not last long. Their spirit is almost gone. Poor babies, my power not enough"


"What if we use my mana to support your healing spirit?"


"The kids is cross race breed, your mana would only make it worst"


I was startled and wondered if they were not human. As much I see both of them perfectly have human figures.


"How about asking your father for help? I'm sure he was more capable enough to lend his power"


Anne stops and touches her forehead. She let out a heavy sigh and continued her words.


"I wish that I have a child, that I can teach this healing magic"


I touched the kid's hands and they both sigh in pain. They move their tiny hand in my palm and suddenly they both squeeze my hand.


It's like they felt comfort there and my heart couldn't bear it. I wanna help them. I should do whatever I can.


"What if I become your daughter? Can you teach me to do this healing magic?"


I wonder why I have that thought. It was like something was whispering to me in a soft and unseen way. Like it could be done if I want it.
