Chapter 10

Daniel POV

It took everything I had not to faint right then and there. I just couldn't believe it I had spent years studying this guy and here he was standing right in front of me. The Sentinel, the man argued to be the father of Rome, and my idol was just a few feet away. Hundreds of questions were pulsing through my mind but for most among was "Who are you?" I asked.

Silver gave me a funny look "I thought I just told you that." he said.

"No I mean people have been wondering exactly who you are ever since you saved the tribe. What I meant was who are your parents, where were you born, when were you born for that matter, and why were you here." I said.

"Oh." He laughed "Well I was here because I got seperated from my family. I knew the general direction they were going and I decided that heading for the Apollo statue would be my best bet for finding them. When I got here I climbed up the statue to get a good vantage point to find my family. That's when I heard your tribe getting attacked on the road at the base of this cliff so I jumped in to help." He paused as the sun went down "We better get to bed it's going to be a long day tomorrow".

Silver POV

Daniel offered to take first watch and I was happy about that. The second my head hit my role of blankets that I was using as a pillow I was out. The dreams eventually came but they weren't normal demigod dreams they came in quick flashes and in every single one I was there standing behind someone whispering in there ear.

I couldn't hear any of what I said and from what I could tell the people I was talking to didn't even notice I was there. In one I stood by my uncle almost shouting at him by the looks of it, like I was trying to warn him or something.

In another I stood atop a hill with another man in a more modern military uniform seemingly pleading with him not to do something before shaking my head in disappointment as he gave the order to level a city and kill every single one of its inhabitants.

And in the last one I was in the throne room on Olympus, it wasn't the Olympus I knew this one seemed newer even if it was in shambles. In the corner a satyre lay unconscious, a girl with grey eyes and blond hair was trying to help him. Towards the middle of the room two boys fought. The oldest looking one had blond hair and golden eyes and a sword made from both steel and celestial bronze. His opponent was slightly smaller and had green eyes and black hair.

The two fought for some time till both had been disarmed, the one with black hair picked up a simple dagger and pointed it at the blond haired boy. I saw myself appear behind the blond, more like a ghost than an actual person. This was the only scene where I heard what I said "I can help you suppress him but you must decide now.".

The blonds eyes changed from gold to blue, he said a few words to the black haired kid who gave him the dagger and allowed him to stab himself in his armpit. There was a small explosion around the blond who then said farewell the three before dying, I saw his soul leave his body and the other me say "You did well Luke." before we both disappeared.

It had been the same kind of dreams every night ever since I had awoken on that bench. The dream started to dissolve like usual so I thought I was waking up but instead I stood face to face with the Fates. "What's happening to me?" I shouted "My blood is silver and what's with these dreams".

"Your blood is a result of your age." they replied.

"What do you mean it's because of my age I'm 14. If my age is the case then why is this the first time it's happened?" I shot back.

"You're not 14 when your father attempted to send you into the future we interfered." they said.

"What! Why?" I shouted.

"Complete your task and you will have the answers you seek."

Percy POV

"Come on guys hurry up!" Reyna shouted as she, Piper, and Hazel ran down the sidewalk.

I looked at Leo "You just had to mention there was an art show in town didn't you?" I said.

"How was I supposed to know the three of them were fans of antique art?" he defended. I sighed and ran to catch up. We got there just in time to grab the last 8 tickets meaning all of us could go 'oh joy' I thought sarcastically. It's not that I don't like art, I just don't find going to a museum to see it fun.

We ended up taking a three hour tour which bored me to no end. At around the 1 ½ hour mark our tour guide mention the next piece came from ancient Greece and was dated to be about 3000 years old. The piece depicted a forest from the point of view of someone standing on a cliff several hundred feet above it, it was beautifully painted and I loved the way the trees showed a slight ripple as if a breeze were passing through them.

As I stared at it I couldn't help but find it familiar in an odd sort of way then it hit me, I pulled out my Journal and began flipping through the pages till I found the one I was looking for. It came to me a few days ago, a memory from when I was younger, there was a cliff near where I was staying that just seemed magical. I drew the picture the following day and apparently I did the same thing in my past life because the only difference between the two was one was in pencil versus color.

"Hey Jason check this out." I said.

Jason took a look at the drawing then back at the painting "Well I can honestly say I didn't that coming." he said grinning.

"Why are you so happy?" I asked.

"Because I see a way out of here." he said dragging me over to Piper. "Hey Piper what would you say if I could introduce you to one of the people who painted these."

Silver POV

"Pick up the pace man." I said to Daniel who was lagging behind, ok lagging might not be the right word for it. It was more he couldn't keep up with my pace, he was a trooper however and didn't complaining even once. After a few more minutes I called for a rest, it had been three days since I told Daniel who I was and I have to say it had been kinda eventful. We traveled north and took a look at the shrine, well my shrine I guess. I have to admit it's kinda cool to have a shrine built to me.

Every night I helped him practice his swordsmanship and I have to say he was definitely getting better but just to help him out I had been using nature magic to help his muscles grow. It was a fairly simple spell that I had adapted from one that was intended for fruit trees. He didn't look skinny anymore and yet he hadn't noticed it yet which surprised me. "So what are you looking for again?" Daniel asked.

"The Erymanthian boar and the Nemean lion." I said "The Erymanthian boar should be a couples miles north of here if the tracks I found were as fresh as they seemed. The thing seems to like staying around where Themis' garden used to be. Not that I'm surprised it was it's home for 300 years.".

"I got a question for you." Daniel said "When you talk about the gods and titans it almost sounds like they used to rule at the same time but I thought once Zeus freed the other gods they went to war with the titans.".

"Well you're right and you're wrong, yes the war started after the gods were freed but it wasn't immediate. The gods had their own army for the war but they wouldn't have had that if it started right after they were freed. There was actually about 200 years time difference from when they were freed to when the war started. History books just tend to skip over it because there wasn't a lot that really happened. Poseidon married Amphitrite, Zeus married Metis and then Hera after Metis faded. Triton was born, Athena, Hephaestus, and Ares were born in that time period. Zeus even had his affair with Leto, which resulted in Artemis and Apollo, and Hercules is born. Hades when the Titan war started Artemis was barely 34 at the time. All that history and it barely even makes a footnote." I explained. "In Fact the gods weren't even planning to overthrow the titans, if Kronos hadn't attacked the fifth age could very well have been ruled by both titans and gods."

"So where do you fit in?" Daniel asked "When were you born I mean?".

"I was born on the tail end of the 4th age, like 10-11 years before the war started." I said.

"Who were your parents?" he asked "Out of everything I've heard you say, you've never once mentioned them or your family.".

I gave a small chuckle "Actually the reasoning for that is because of my parentage." I said.

"My parents were in a sort of Romeo and Juliet situation, my mother's father didn't exactly get along with my father's father. So when I was born at first they were extremely happy but then my mom got worried about what her father might do to me or my father if he ever found out. So for next 13 years of my life they taught me to defend myself should something happen. My father was the best swordsman at the time and my mother was highly skilled in archery. Though they loved me and took every opportunity to prove it, it was kinda rough from time to time because I couldn't refer to my mom as my mother if someone was around. If someone stayed with us for any length of time she had to become just another person to me. There were a few people who knew about it though, there was my sisters, two aunts, one uncle, and my teacher who taught me nature magic."

We spent the next few hours walking in silence, as we reach the base of a cliff I heard a low pitched reet "What's that?" Daniel asked.

"I think that's what we're looking." I said, we followed to noise till we found its source, the Erymanthian boar. "What happened to you?" I said to myself as I knelt down beside the boar.

It's sides were slashed deeply and both its tusks had been broken off at their base. "It's like the thing lost a fight with a meat grinder." Daniel said.

"Help me patch him up." I said pulling out some supplies.

"I thought you said you were looking for it." Daniel said "If we have him here why heal him if you're planning to kill him.".

"I was never planning on kill him, I just needed his tusks which are fairly easy to get a hold of since he sheds them once every ten years." I said "And now I don't even need to wait since something already broke a piece off for me..

An hour later the boar was all wrapped up in bandages and fast asleep. "We'll stay the night just to make sure he's okay." I said standing up "In the meantime I'll find out where the Nemean lion went.".

"Went? You mean it was here!" Daniel asked.

"Yes it was, see those scraps in the ground?" I asked.

"Yeah."

"Those are claw marks but there's no natural animal big enough to make them. Those some claw mark were on Boar's side and last but not least there's this." I said holding up a few strands of golden fur "Now how many animals do you know that how golden fur?".

"Where did you learn to do this?" He asked "Track animals I mean.".

"My mother taught me how to hunt and I may not be as good as her but I think I'm still a pretty good tracker." I said walking up a hill. When I reached the top I looked down on the valley around us and for the millionth time I noticed how dry the landscape was.

Daniel noticed my look and said "Ever since the second giant war there's been very little rain here. Most of the farms are struggling, crops are failing, and most of the the country is starting to ration what little food they have left."

"Rain." I said softly before smiling.

"Yeah rain." he said giving me a weird look.

"Thanks Daniel." I said.

"For what?" he asked.

"For helping me to figure out what I can do to both help the people and find the Nemean lion." I said.

"How's that?" he asked.

"Well to put it simply I'm going to make it rain, given my unique ancestry I'm rather gifted with storms." I said.

"Your ancestry? You mean like parents, grandparents, and so on?" he asked.

"Is there any other meaning to the word ancestry?" I asked in turn.

He rolled his eyes "I get your parents but what does your grandparents and so on have to do anything. I thought you only inherited abilities from your parents.".

"Well true you do inherit abilities from your parents but abilities are no different than physical features they get passed down and with every new generation they become less powerful." I said.

"Let's take a child of Apollo and a child of Zeus for example. A child of Zeus can summon winds and lightning fairly easily. Apollo being a child of Zeus technically can do the same he just chooses to rely on things that make him who he is such as the god of archery and prophecies. Now moving on to a child of Apollo, the potential to summon winds and lighting is still there, but since it's not directly inherited from Zeus it's weaker and can take years or even decades to properly learn how to use said abilities.".

"So you're saying that a child of the big three could technically have a certain amount of control over time?" Octavian asked.

"Yes and no, they could were in not for the fact that just after Zeus freed his siblings they performed a ritual that cut all ties between the titans and themselves. That's why they're considered gods and not titans." I said summoning the storm, I almost laughed at how easily it grew.

"So how does a storm help us find the Nemean lion?" Octavian asked.

"Because this is a thunder storm and gold is a very very good conductor." I said flashing a mischievous grin.

Zeus POV

I sat in my office digging through the stack of papers that I had to sort through as the king of the gods when Aeolus master of the winds burst in "Lord Zeus there's something you need to see!" he said.

I motioned for him to get on with it and he summoned a screen of Greece with a storm over most of the lower half. "Ok?" I said not understanding why some storm needed my imeadiate attention.

"You see this storm?" He asked, I nodded. "It's not mine in fact it's supposed to be clear and sunny over Greece right now.".

"So get rid of the storm." I said getting annoyed and turning back to my papers.

"That's the thing I can't. " he said causing me to look up.

"What?" I asked, surely I miss heard.

"I can't stop this storm, I've thrown everything I have at it and called in the gods of south, west, and east winds. Whatever is driving this storm has more power than the four of us combined. I was hoping you could send someone to find out what's controlling this." I nodded.

"Hermes!" I shouted.
