The Tian Family

Returning his phone, Wei Hui sat criss-crossed on the sofa next to Tian Long clasping her warm tea mug. She left enough space to fit another person in between them.

She could not help but take in his appearance as he typed away on his smartphone and sip some coffee once in a while. She has seen her fair share of beautiful and handsome people, but this man before her seems top-grade. From his tall and lean stature to his handsomely carved face and sleek black hair. He can rival any idol.

-He would look even better if he smiles a bit more. - imagined Wei Hui -Why is everyone blessed with good lucks but me.-groaned Wei Hui internally. As she glanced at Tian Long again after sipping her tea, she noted, -definitely eye-candy but not boyfriend-material.

Tian Long maintained an ever growing scowl as he busied himself with voicing his displeasure (yelling) at his assistant over the phone through a WIFI to call since any phone signal is undetectable in this medieval area.

Currently, the poor assistant Nan Jing is pacing back and forth while enduring his boss's tirade in a hotel room two hours away from his boss. Even though his position is handsomely payed, Nan Jing often speculates if he will die at an early age due to stress before even entering retirement.

Yesterday was just going to be a simple business trip meeting between his CEO, Tian Long, and the co-CEO of an emerging computer science company. Usually these meetings can easily be taken care of by another supervisor or management, but the CEO wanted to personally consolidate this cooperation because of the impressive progress this computer science company has displayed in the past quarter. Even though the CEO is mostly antisocial and young-master-diseased at times, the company is his priority, so he will take some things into consideration for the company. This is because the CEO's company, Tian Tech, is an ongoing five year project to contest for the Tian's family inheritance.

The Tian family's current patriarch, Tian Bo, declared an ultimatum for the current three branches of the Tian family: each legitimate grandson once reaching 21 years of age will have 5 years to develop his own company with no primary financial assistance from the Tian family. At the end of the five-year term, the company will be assessed for its values according to the Patriarch's criteria, which were concealed as to what they are. Whichever grandson's company that excelled Tian Bo's criteria will be nominated as the sole Tian family's patriarch. Disappointed in the performance of his three immediate sons, Tian Bo resolutely enacted to skip the patriarch candidacy to his grandsons. Currently, only two grandsons are qualified for this ultimatum: Tian Long from the first branch and Tian Hu from the second branch. The third branch, the youngest son of Tian Bo, only has two lovely daughters and was content with his status without wanting a son to compete for the patriarchy. On the other hand, the two eldest sons of Tian Bo, Tian Le and Tian De, have always competed with one another. To continue their rivalry, the two brothers have been strict on their sons and raised their son to perfection, in order to gain the patriarch seat.

Tian Tech, founded by Tian Long, has been a successful company for the past three years. Still an emerging company but top ten in China remains at the forefront of electronics and media, such as smart devices from phones to laptops. After securing its place in media products, Tian Long wanted to extend the company into software development, such as utilities, apps, and malware protection systems. As such, Tian Long is currently searching for a cohort with a capable computer science company to integrate into Tian Tech's developing software department. Additionally, Tian Tech is also researching into the biotechnical engineering market.

On the other hand, Tian Hu serves as the CEO of his very own real estate conglomerate. With his father, Tian De, as a famous politician in the revenue department of the state, Tian Estate has long solidified its position as number one in the Chinese market and second in international real-estate market. Being one year older than Tian Long, Tian Hu has less than a year to finalize his contributions to his company before being evaluated by the Patriarch Tian Bo. However, Tian Hu is more than confident with the company's performance and is now more focused with meddling in the background with Tian Long's Tian Tech.
