Unbeknownst to Tian Long and his assistant, the current conundrum is due to the meddlesome Tian Hu. Earlier in the day, Nan Jing has arranged for a temporary assistant to guide Tian Long to the hotel as the CEO will be arriving earlier before him to Nuremberg, Germany. Tian Hu intercepted this pre-arranged assistant and replaced him with one of his employees. The fraudulent assistant then arranged for a taxi driver to drive the unsuspecting but also too busy to noticed young master Tian Long further away from the city. With an excuse, the false assistant stated that the hotels in the inner-city has long been overbooked before explaining that another hotel room has been arranged but slightly farther than planned. After Tian Long glanced up from his files and felt that something was amiss, he was ushered to step out of the car before the assistant quickly jumped back in the taxi, and the taxi sped away. The confounded CEO took in his surroundings...
….
After the 15 Min call, Nan Jing has already arranged for a driver to personally pick-up Tian Long from Wei Hui's place. Unfortunately, Tian Long will have to wait until 8:00 AM because Germans are very particular on efficiency, so no drivers except for one wanted to drive all the way to this village in the countryside that is 3 hours away from the main city. Reluctantly, Tian Long peeked over at Wei Hui, who sat across from him and had buried her head in a mobile game. At this moment, Wei Hui looked up as well and gifted Tian Long a sympathetic smile.
Clearing his throat, Tian Long requested, "My assistant will be arriving tomorrow the earliest. I will have to impose on you for a night, but you will be fully compensated for all your troubles."
Wei Hui delighted in his acquiescing manner, "No worries. It's no problem at all, but I only have one bedroom. You'll have to crash on the coach."
Immediately Wei Hui briskly walked away and informed "I will be right back with a spare pillow and blankets."
…
Returning from the storage closet, Wei Hui plopped the pillow and blankets on the couch. It seems that Tian Long has stepped out onto the porch to smoke cigarettes. Wei Hui peeked at the gilded wooden cuckoo clock that was about to chime at 9:00 PM.
-It's getting late, and I still haven't eaten dinner- sulked Wei Hui. Walking toward the small kitchen, she opened the refrigerator, only to be greeted with a near-empty fridge except for a tub of potato salad, container of hummus, and some bottles of drink.
-Damn. I forgot today was supposed to be grocery day,- remembered Wei Hui. Embarrassed at the state of her refrigerator, Wei Hui grabbed the potato salad and hummus. Luckily, living in Germany for the past three years, taught her to always have a large assortment of bread and jam in the kitchen.
....
After his stress-relieving smoke break, Tian Long returned to the house. He saw Wei Hui moving to and fro in the kitchen as she prepare the dinner table. Before he can set himself on the sofa, Wei Hui poked her head around the left corner and cheerfully called him for dinner, "Oh you're back! I have already set the table for dinner! Come quickly!"
Taking measured strides with his long legs, Tian Long stood before the dinner table. He perused over the meal in front of him. A bread basket with an assortment of bread rolls from grain to seed or cheese toppings is in the middle. Lined up vertically beside this bread basket are three opened jars of jam on the left with a spreader placed across the top of each jar. On the other side of the bread basket stood a bowl of potato salad and a smaller bowl of hummus sprinkled with peppers. Two plates are set out, each with fork and knife on the side. Wei Hui approached the table with two drink glass and placed them beside the plates, respectively.
She turned to face Tian Long and sheepishly explained, "You'll have to excuse for dinner. This afternoon was grocery day, but I ran into you and totally forgot. In Germany, all grocery stores closed at 8:00 PM, and especially in this town, the restaurants closed after 9:00 PM. I hope you don't mind, this is actually a common German breakfast spread."
Tian Long nonchalantly accepted, "It will do. I didn't have any expectations anyway."
