Chapter 8: Monsters

I shivered by the thought of it but just kept walking. >Monsters, huh?< I just couldn't stop myself thinking about what they were. >These crazy people geez... Really can't even tell me what is going on on this planet.<

*Tock, tock, tock*

I quickly turned myself over to where the sound was coming from and pulled my blaster out again.

A few small stones were slowly rolling down a concrete wall that was already more than just broken and tilted sideways.

I took a few more silent steps forward, but my head tilted up to the wall that the stones were coming from before I stopped. "Hello!?" I called out, in hopes that it was no monster, or when it was one, then a good one. Well, the last one was pretty unlikely, but still, a thought that passed my mind. I had no idea how I could think so positively in a situation like that, but I did.

Of course, there was no one or nothing, that answered me so I started to walk again, but my head still turned.

Suddenly the exact same thing happened on another wall that was nearby and I was startled again, quickly turning my head to the other wall and seeing even more stones rolling down. >What the...? Now it's getting creepy...<

I looked down on my blaster to confirm that it was in fire-mode in case someone was coming down on me and quickly raised my head again to the wall.

Where there was another gray wall just a few seconds ago, there was now standing... something... I couldn't really describe it, as it was really too bizarre. It reminded me of an animal of another plant that I once was on, but since then and before then I never saw anything like that.

The body of a werewolf with fur looking like one of these ferrofluids that you give kids, so they can hold magnets on it and get some strange spikes... Yeah exactly like these spikes. I couldn't tell if it really was fur, or more like a shell... But it was definitely moving like hair or a strange fluid... Just looking at it was pretty confusing.

And the head... The head was somewhat comparable with the head of a horse, as it was pretty long, but with the eyes turned forward, as it seemingly was a predator and the teeth not designed to eat hay but meat.

"System, what's that?" I asked, not daring to blink so I would notice if it moves again. It seemed pretty fast.

"I'm not familiar with an animal that looks like that, I am sorry."

>Oh, come on! You really are fucking useless, aren't you!?< I was infuriated. >So it's just me and the blaster against... this thing.<

The Monster took a slow step in my direction and I got goosebumps all over my body while it shivered down my whole spine.

"Hello!?" I tried to call out again. Not really expecting an answer, but still hoping for one.

I waited a bit longer, while it got closer and closer. >Three, two, one...<

I pointed my blaster in the direction of that 'thing' and got ready to shoot when I heard someone calling out.

"I wouldn't do that If I was you." Said a woman somewhere above him. He quickly looked above him, trying to spot someone but when he couldn't find anyone he turned over to the monster again.

"Who are you?" I called out.

"Just put away that weapon already, it's dangerous and useless." She said.

"Useless?" I asked. There was no way I would let down my only defense. "Do you know what that is?! It's a pl-"

She cut me off. "Plasma Blaster, I know."

I was baffled. Maybe there was a way... "You know about Plasma Blasters here?"

"Yup, and if you don't throw away that damn thing, you can hurt us all pretty badly."

"And how?" I asked, slowly lowering the blaster.

"Magnetic fields, but you don't really have time for listening to explanations now, you should care a bit more!"

The werewolf, horse monster hybrid started to pick up pace and I aimed in his direction again.

"I will say only one more time. Lower that damn thing or I won't help you and you can die alone!" She said with a harsh tone.

I took a deep breath and put the blaster away again. >I really don't like relying on others, but I don't wanna die because of ignorance either...<

"You made the right decision stranger." She said and the monster started to pick up even more pace, to the point where it was basically running now and only a few more meters away.

>I am trusting a complete stranger with my life... That's not like me at all!<

From somewhere next to me, I suddenly heard a few sounds and the woman talking again, but this time a lot quieter. "Light Bullet." Is what I understood and then...

*Swoosh*
