Sources

Every good spy has their sources. It's their lifeline when stuff is about to go down. Especially if they have to be on radio silence. However, I don't believe in silence of any sort. Silence is akin to complacency and it's the reason civilizations have been oppressed by madmen.

I've seen it happen with my own eyes and I'm an avid reader of history myself. Do I consider myself mad for never being on radio silence? No. Just aware.

Which is why Langley, Virginia is wonderful for me. It's a city that always watches it's citizens and I also have my own sources located here. Some of them know how to hack into street feeds, but the real artists are the ones who can record video and sound on their phones. Those are my real sources and they provide me with the most information. One of them gave me some video the other day from a park bench of all things.

There stood Agents Cloak and Dagger near a tree eating ice cream of all thing. Never mind the fact my source told me the cool autumn air is starting to settle in Virginia. It doesn't seem to faze them.

Agent Dagger looks at one of the park patrons in the distance as he said, "Alright, we're supposed to watch this mother and her child without them knowing but they're making it really difficult."

"I know. It would be so much easier to tail them if we had a child ourselves, huh."

"Yeah, tell me about it."

Ayla looks down at her phone and smirks. "Good thing I thought three steps ahead of you," she replied. She stepped away from the tree and away from Agent Dagger as she looked around the park. She then waved frantically at someone in the distance and bended down with one knee in the dry grass with her arms wide open. Just in time for a little girl to pummel into her. "Hello darlin'!" she exclaimed with a smile. "You've gotten so big since I last saw you. You'll be taller than me soon."

Freesia walks towards her as she said, "I'd still give her a couple more years till she's taller than you, Eye." Freesia glances behind Ayla and sees Conroy standing near the tree like a statue. "Uh, who's he? He's cute!"

"I know he is, but he's so serious! We're new co-workers," Agent Cloak replied. Agent Dagger approached Freesia with a warm smile.

"Hello, are you a friend of Ayla's?" he asked her as they shook hands.

"Yes we are, but you can be my friend too honey," replied Freesia with a wink. The little girl didn't notice this exchange which was probably for the best since she was still clinging onto Ayla for dear life. "Thank you for offering to take care of Liberty, Aye. I'm needed for a staff meeting soon and couldn't find anyone last minute so--"

"No, thank you, Free. I can watch Liberty anytime I'm here in town!"

Liberty looked at the ice cream cone Agent Dagger was holding. "Ice Cream?" she asked sweetly. Ayla giggled and tweaked her nose.

"Yes, but only after you play for a bit, okay?"

As Liberty started running towards the playground, Ayla gave her best friend a quick hug before they parted ways. Ayla grabbed Agent Dagger's hand and pulled him towards the playground. "Since you aren't much of a conversationalist, you go and play with Liberty. Keep a close eye on her, she can run fast."

"What?"

"You're not deaf, I know that. Now, go!" With a light shove towards the playground, Agent Dagger was given the task of keeping an eye on/playing with Liberty. I had to watch the video I received twice because watching Agent Dagger trying to play with an eight year old girl was akin to watching a barrel of monkeys play out in real life. It was very entertaining.

The second time I watched the video was to focus all on Agent Cloak. Because while Agent Dagger was looking like a buffoon, Agent Cloak was using her repertoire of small talk and speaking with the mother of the little girl whom Liberty started to play with.

I didn't know the little girl very well, but I knew the mother. She was one of the most loyal members of my organization until she wasn't. One moment she was a devotee to our cause and the next she requested asylum for her and her daughter in exchange for ratting out her husband, my former second in command. He's still loyal to me but he and I haven't spoken in awhile. Radio silence...I don't believe in it.
