Chapter 10 - Dinner

"Mr Chen, you don't have to feel obligated to stay back for dinner or to stay and work on these. I should be able to finish all of this by tomorrow."

Hearing this, he felt as if a needle was pierced into his heart. He didn't want to leave her to handle it all alone and he did not understand why. He brushed it off again.

"Miss An, I just want to learn as much as possible from you. It seems you are the most knowledgeable amongst the people around me and I can see myself learning a lot. So I am staying to work on this. For the sake of the company."

"Alright. As long as it makes you happy. I'm going to change before going up to Grandfather's rooms. You can make your way up without me."

Without waiting for a reply, she dashed out of the office, up the stairs and into her room.  She saw her stuff from school has been brought in. Her thoughts started clouding her mind again and kept her busy while she was getting ready for her shower.

She dropped a messaged to her best friend hoping that he will once again help to calm her down again.

"Hey Fin, are you still awake? I know it is 2am on your side now. If you are awake can we talk?"

Not long later, the message tone sounded. She grab a towel and step out of the shower.

"Becasue of you, I didn't get laid. Do you think you have the rights to talk to me? Why can't you just stop over thinking things and just let it all happen when it is supposed to? I'm not replying anymore so go away."

Seeing the reply from Fin, she took comfort from it. No matter whether it was a friendly message or a hostile one from him, she had never minded. Still, it made her feel indignant. She did nothing wrong.

"But I really have an emergency. How dare you call yourself my best friend and just throw me away when you have a girl with you. How could you do this to me?"

Giving him a few minutes. No reply came in.

"I'm sorry. I really didn't know your once in a lifetime opportunity to get laid came. I'm really sorry. Can you forgive me this one time? You can ask for anything and I will arranged it to be sent to you immediately. Please don't give me the cold shoulder."

Giving him another few minutes, she got dressed and there was still no reply from him. She gave up, tucked her phone into her pocket and she walked towards her Grandfather's rooms.

Adjacent to his bedroom, was a small sitting room filled with warm and loving memories. lined along the walls were photos of Grandfather and Grandmother when they were younger. The wedding photos of each and every child and grandchildren they have. Most of the frames have all aged with time but has been well maintained by the family staff. Right in the middle was a coffee table surrounding it in a semicircle layout was a beige coloured love seat and two armchairs of the same colour on each side.
