Annoying Vulen

"Are we there yet?!" Leo sighed heavily as he flopped down on his back in the center of the merchant cart.

Vulen couldn't help but cover his face with his palm in embarrassment over how the prince was getting impatient. The young man was the crown prince and he was acting like a mere child in front of other people. He couldn't help but to wonder if Leo had any self control for his actions at all.

The amount I am holding myself back from killing this kid and he can't even have self control to be patient during a mere cart ride to the next town! Vulen thought to himself as his face twitched in annoyance.

"Sir, we'll be there in a few hours." Vulen forced out the words as calm as he possibly could.

"What are you doing? I know you annoy me at times, but you're acting worse than usual." The wolf shook his fur and glanced over at the cart from the corner of his eyes.

Leo did not respond to the wolf. A simple smile played upon his face as he sprawled out where he was and heavily huffed a sigh as if he was refraining from throwing a tantrum. He knew that the wolf was confused, but even more he knew Vulen was lacking in patience. If the man got annoyed heavily enough with him then the man would surely ditch them. It was something he was willing to bet on.

"Whelp! I'm walking!" Leo blurted out and quickly jumped to his feet. His body flipping and hurling himself over the side of the cart as he landed on his feet beside Vorbuk. The wolf jumped the side from the sudden landing of the prince beside him. Confusion was plastered on the wolf's face as he glared at him for startling him for no reason.

"What? Wait up!" Vulen found himself caught off guard as he quickly shuffled himself to climb down from the merchant cart to join them both in walking. There was still a few hours of cart ride ahead of them so suddenly choosing to walk now was something that confused the elf. Why would the prince suddenly want to waste so much effort in walking when he could simply ride the rest of the way and relax? Royalty ain't usually the sort to willingly jump to laborious things when they had the easy option.

The sun was still in the sky and hot above them and the walk was long. What would have taken a few hours of comfortable cart riding was escalated to a miserable several hours of walking.

"I love mother nature!" The prince happily blurted out as they finally reached the town.

Mother nature is a wh**e! Vulen screamed in his head as he panted heavily on the outside to catch his breath. The whole time heading to the town the prince had kept taking random bursts to run at full speed with the wolf causing Vulen to shuffle to keep up with him while still managing to struggle with his gear and sword. He was a warrior, but even he had his limits!

"Well, I am going to book me and Vorbuk a room at the local inn here so we'll see you later!" The crown prince shot off running towards the center of town to find the local inn.

Vulen found himself left in the dust again by the young prince. His nerves were at their limits and he felt like he could almost see red from the rage he was holding inside. From the corner of his eyes he could see a young man with a terrified look on his face. For a moment he was not sure why the man was staring at him with terror on his face.

"bu...bu..butcher!" The man shrieked.

Vulen quickly glanced around to check if anyone was watching. When he verified nobody had realized what the man said he swiftly flew forward. Grasping the man by his shirt and tugging him into a dark alley.

Vulen's hand tightly grasped the man by his shirt as he pinned him against the wall of a local house. The man was stricken with terror as he shuddered. The elf's eyes glared daggers at the man before him. This man seems to be a survivor from Silvervane, he thought to himself as he debated on how to handle the situation. There was only one way he could figure to single underhandedly quiet the terrorized man before him.

Taking his hand that was still free he grasped the man's throat. The smell of urine filled the air as the man knew instantly his fate had been sealed the moment he recognized the silent butcher, Vulen. Vulen's hand swiftly and firmly squeezed the man's throat.

"SNAP!"

The man's wind pipe was shattered by his hand. Vulen could feel the life vanish from the body he was holding in his hand as it went limp and motionless. The smell from the man's corpse he was holding due to the urine made him feel like vomiting, but he was use to the smell of various corpses. The mere urine was not near enough to make him truly vomit. A huff escaped his annoyed self as he threw the body down to the ground and went to silently walk away into the shadows.

He was not in the mood to deal with the clean up of the corpse. Not a soul had seen him drag the man away to his death. There was not a single person in the town that would realize it was him who silently butchered another soul from this world. His mission was technically fulfilled so he had his own next steps to take.

The queen, Lyra, simply wanted to know if the wolf truly was a Shadow Wolf and he had fulfilled that for her. As he walked away into the shadows he knew it was time for his next task. He had to get word back to his beloved queen.

In the silence of the night nobody found the man that Vulen had ended in the cover of night until the next day when the owner of the house was taking out his trash.

By the time the victim was found Vulen would be long gone from the town. There was not enough tolerance in him to keep pretending to be friendly with the prince who was out to annoy every nerve he had.
