Vulens Plan

"Where is queen, Lyra?!" Vulen shouted his question with rage at the elders in the throne room.

The elders all turned to look at him with dumbfounded looks on their faces. They all were well aware of how attached he was to the queen and they were all disgusted by it to the core. As they watched him walked into the throne room as though there was fire under his feet they all wondered what he could possibly need the queen so badly for.

"She ain't here." One of the elders stated as he stepped forward from the shadows of the room.

"Where is she? I need to see queen Lyra!" Vulen shouted his request again at the elders.

"You won't find her in the kingdom right now, she left for Cadirade the other day. She had her own things to deal with and does not have time to pat your head so why don't you go find something more productive to do then lick the queens feet!" The elder mocked him with a vicious tone.

"I'm serious this is about the border of Cadirade! My men were burnt to death by a dragon the other day and the queen needs to know of this!" Vulen hissed at the elders.

Vulen hated all the men before him. He knew they all thought they were above him in every way possible. There was no ignorance behind his awareness that they all felt he was a joke for having feelings for the ice queen, but he had no care about that.

"Are you serious?"

"Dragons?"

"I thought the dragons never involve themselves in mortal affairs!"

All the elders started whispering to themselves about Vulen's report that a dragon had gotten involved at the border war. Worry was plastered all over their faces as they tried to figure out the situation. A dragon getting involved in mortal wars was something that was never seen or heard of throughout the realms history. It was something that was just unfathomable.

"It is true! The dragon razed a large amount of carnage among the war, but it looked to have only targeted our side deliberately. There is clearly a dragon working for the kingdom of Cadirade!" Vulen grit his teeth when he remembered the vast amount of men he had lost among the border when the dragon unleashed its breath against his side. Vulen had not been there personally as he was taking care of his own tasks for the queen, but when he had arrived after the carnage he saw a ocean of bodies among flames and smelt the stench of burning flesh.

"We shall report this to the queen in your stead. You shall do your job and return to the field immediately. If the queen requires your presence here we will send someone to fetch you." an elder spoke to him as he stroked his beard in thought.

"Very well..." Vulen grit his teeth tighter and turned to remove himself from the throne room.

He could hear the elders talking behind him as he left. They had clearly only wanted him to leave and he was not sure if they took his words seriously or not. The fact that they had come from Vulen made them feel certain they were true facts, but at the same time their deep disgust for the man was enough for them to want to remain quiet and hope the man got punished if the queen thought Vulen hid the fact from her that a dragon was involved in the fight among the kingdoms. Of course they would not hide the fact from the queen when he returned, however, because they all feared the queen themselves and knew if they were caught hiding something it would mean their death.

"Elas!" Vulen shouted for the young warrior.

Elas quickly shuffled over to the general's side and respectfully saluted him.

"Yes, sir?" Elas asked as he wondered what the general would want from him this time. Every time he got orders from the general it was something that would fill his soul with dread. The missions were always a task that meant carnage or doing something dirty for the queen's sake.

Elas was not like the other elves who worked for the general. His thirst for bloodshed was not as heavy. It was his duty to follow the general; therefore, even though he hated it he would still do his job out of respect and loyalty.

"Take the other two with you and locate the crown prince, Leo! I have a feeling that fool has some sort of involvement in the sudden appearance of the dragon on the battlefield."

"You want me us to go after the prince again, sir?" Elas shook slightly for a second at the thought when he remembered the beast that was with the prince the last time they made an attempt at his life. If he ran into that beast again he was not certain that he would live, but he knew better then to question the general's opinion.

"Do not be a fool about this, Elas! I want to you to find them and simply report back to me what they are up to. I will take care of the rest from there." Vulen smiled at Elas causing the young elf to shake. Whenever he saw his general smile it usually meant something bad was about to happen and Elas could not help his fear at the thought.

Nothing good will come of this. The young elf, Elas, thought to himself as he quickly darted off to go find Aywin and Allisa for their new job in hunting down the location of the crown prince.

"Dear prince, Leo, you think i'll let you get in the way of my duty for the queen then let's see how you handle things this time around when I find you." He smiled even brighter as he tilted his head back to stare up into the sky.

There was a great number of things running through the general's mind, but the only thing that mattered the most to him in that moment was to remove the main thing in his way of pleasing his queen, Lyra. If anything or anyone got in his way he would simply mow them down and the crown prince, Leo, was not any different to him. When he got the chance to slaughter that young prince with his own hands he was planning on doing it.

A sudden thirst to kill washed over him.
