A thunderous roar shook the sky and traveled for hundreds of miles across the land until the fell upon the ears of Vorbuk and the others where they were riding the cart. Everyone's eyes shot up to search the sky except for Bredret. Daryl studied his surroundings as he tried to determine how to react to the sound.
"Was that a dragon?" Zoe asked as she looked to Daryl for an answer.
"Yes." Daryl replied as he kept a careful eye on their surroundings. "We're getting close to the dragon's kingdom. There is no direct course for mortals to go there, however, so there is no worry as long as we don't come across a stray dragon. They do not like mortals invading their terrain without reason."
"They won't attack us for passing by their terrain?" Zoe wondered about the fact of being so close to the kingdom the dragons belonged to. She had not ventured far from Cadirade since she was a child. She had her capabilities, but fighting a dragon was still above her abilities and she was sure the others were not that far from the same fate as her if they got attacked.
"Things will be fine just detour a bit and the dragon kingdom will ignore everyone here." Bredret spoke up as he could sense the worry in everyone. The only one he felt was the least worried among everyone on the cart was him and the wolf.
Everyone was nervous to their limits as several hours passed by while they traveled along. The roar of a dragon was powerful and could stretch for a great vast distance and so it would take them the rest of the day to actually completely pass by the kingdom where the dragons lived. The whole time they could hear thunderous roars and pounding of wings beating against the sky. The terrain constantly vibrated and shook from the dragons in the distance simply walking. The fact of how powerful it was for a dragon to walk and that the kingdom had just a large number of them caused the terrain in the whole area to constantly be strong and clean because any weak parts in the terrain would crumble from the powerful vibrations of the ground.
Vorbuk's ears twitched with wonder at the sounds he could hear all around him as they traveled. His mind was registering all kinds of information almost like a computerized device that was calculating and entering new information. He could feel his mind solidifying all the Intel he learned and gathered from the environment around him causing his soul to strengthen. It felt like knowledge he learnt about the dragons was strengthening his soul.
It almost feels like I'm getting drunk from this environment... Vorbuk thought and wondered if there was something about the dragons that mixed with what he was. It made him want to learn more, but he did not have the time to worry about it so he remained in the cart as he just took in everything around him.
Leo watched the wolf lay there with a strange expression on it's face. The wolf's body began to glow red and gold slightly. It almost gave him the feeling like the two forms were trying to trying to merge their auras into one. His body shuddered slightly with worry as he wondered what to do in the situation. His eyes glanced over at Daryl as if to ask what to do.
"Vorbuk, stop!" Daryl shouted from where he sat. He was still holding tightly onto the reins, but he could see what the wolf was doing when he turned to glance at him.
The wolf opened his eyes and looked around at everyone. They all had their eyes on him and his glowing body. There was the aura of red and the aura of gold that was flowing to and from his body. His eyes were glowing as well and it was all causing the entire area to light up like a lamp post in the middle of nowhere.
"What is this?" Leo asked with a panicked tone as he stared at Vorbuk in confusion.
"He was absorbing the aura of the dragons that has flowed into the air. Dragon's are divine creatures. Since we have been passing by their territory is filled in the air with excess divine aura that has expelled from their bodies. It is rare for a creature to be able to absorb the excess aura without paying a dire price. If the wolf kept in-taking the power from the auras in the air and reached his own limit it could cause him to spontaneously combust." Bredret glanced around as he explained.
Vorbuk shuddered slightly when he realized what he had been doing without being aware. He did not know what his limit was and was blindly enjoying the feeling of the aura absorbing inside of his body as they had been moving. Knowing that he could have over did it and died without realizing it was enough to make him shake.
"Be careful!" Leo hissed in his tone as he looked at the wolf.
Leo could not help his worry at the thought of Vorbuk doing something so irresponsible. He could sense the danger when he saw what the wolf had been doing, but knowing the possible fate the wolf could have ended up with made him want to scold the wolf. There was no way the prince was willing to so easily loose someone else around him so soon after having everything with Emery happen. Him and the wolf were together every day for a long time now and he had grown attached to Vorbuk like family. It felt no different to loose Vorbuk then to loose a family member.
"I didn't realize... I will be more careful in the future." The wolf responded to him as it closed his eyes to rest.
Vorbuk could sense the worry from the prince and it made him feel awkward in this situation. If the prince was going to give off such an awkward air then he felt the urge to sleep. Sleeping the rest of the way was better then dealing with the awkward air around him due to the prince's attitude. As the wolf curled up to sleep he could still hear everyone talking around him, but he kept himself quiet and motionless so that nobody would bother with him so that the tension would slowly decimate.
