Nagging Dragon

"Hmm?"

Vorbuk's eyes slowly opened as he took in his surroundings. He could see the crown prince asleep on the bed. There was no telling how long he had been asleep, but he could tell the day had faded to night by the time he had awoken. His body felt tense and ached from his head to his paws, but he could finally manage to move his body a bit to shift himself into a sitting position.

"I wonder how long I was out for?" He asked himself as he glanced around the room.

As he glanced at his own body he could see the bandage work the others had done on him. Gathering all the strength he could force from himself he gathered his thoughts to remember what happened to him. He could recall the fight, but he could not recall how he had collapsed and been brought back to the inn. It was clear in his mind that he felt the recollection of waking up in dire pain at some point and falling unconscious a second time.

"I guess I pushed myself a bit too hard out there.." He spoke to himself as he swore to himself to be more cautious in the future. There was no telling if he could really assure himself he wouldn't push himself too hard again whether he decided not to or not, however, because nobody could tell what would happen to him in the future.

"Oh, you're up." A voice came from the doorway behind him.

As Vorbuk turned around he could see Bredret standing there with his arms cross against his chest. The dragon looked slightly amused with a flicker of annoyance in his eyes. It almost seemed to Vorbuk like Bredret wanted to scold him for something though he kept his mouth shut on the subject at the moment.

"Yes." Vorbuk nodded his head in response.

There was a pause of silence while the dragon kept his eyes glued to Vorbuk. It seemed like his mind was filled with various thoughts for a moment while they stared at each other in silence. To the wolf it felt like an eternity before the dragon broke the silence.

"Look... I don't like using my ability to communicate with such little things like you, mutt.. But you troubled even me this time around. You need to be more cautious. If you and that idiot of a crown prince go and get yourselves killed and something happens to get me in a sh*t situation I will be very annoyed with you so don't think I wont hunt your soul down. My beloved may be just a wandering soul, but I still have a duty to keep her safe. There are even ways to destroy and torture souls. Think about repercussions of your actions more, would you?" Bredret started nagged as his hand slowly moved to press his fingers against his own temples.

"You act as though my actions give you a headache." Vorbuk mocked the dragon. He could not understand his own urge to toy with Bredret's emotions, but it felt almost instinctive for him at the moment. The dragon had never once in their time teamed together spoken to him, but the dragon was now suddenly standing in front of him in human form to complain about his actions.

"Don't push your luck, mutt! You're actions do cause me a headache. I'm only tolerating you for the sake of my beloved and Daryl. If it wasn't for those two I wouldn't care how suicidal your actions are, but for their sake I don't mind tolerating the presence of something so insignificant as you around me until things are finished. Once you're no longer useful than do what you want whether you die or not is none of my business, but until that time comes keep your suicidal actions to a minimum!" The dragon scoffed as he turned to leave the room. As he was leaving Bredret paused for a moment and turned his head slightly to speak again.

"Dont take this the wrong way, but... You two really worried everyone, pup... Remember that!"

"You were worried?" Vorbuk teased with an amused tone at the thought of the dragon getting worried.

"No! I did not and I told you not to take it the wrong way, mutt!" a deep and thunderous growl echoed from the throat of Bredret as the dragon walked off as if he was avoiding the plague.

After the dragon was out of sight there was a sound of rustling coming from the bed. Glancing over to his side he could see Leo starting to sit up. The prince's eyes quickly found where Vorbuk was sitting and glanced between him and the door.

"Looks like you made him run for his life by the sound of how quickly he left! Hahaha!" Crown prince Leo burst out laughing.

"You were listening in on us?!" Vorbuk growled with annoyance that he was being listened to without his knowledge. There was nothing said that was to be worried a bout, but still the thought of being spied on greatly annoyed him.

"I caught only part of it. I kept quiet so I wouldn't interrupt... plus hearing him actually communicating for once was something to experience as well."

"No tact!" Vorbuk shouted at the prince.

"Hey! I have tact!" The crown prince paused for a moment and followed with a shrug before he continued. "I think he was worried about us as well and just doesn't want to admit it though so don't take it hard about his snap attitude towards you."

"What do you mean? That's the first time he's even communicated with me and being a divine dragon he could've done so a long time ago." Vorbuk slowly stood up as the two of them started to head for the door to leave.

"Well, he's actually the one who knocked you out and carried you back to the inn... so I don't think he's entirely emotionless like he tries to let on."

Doesn't that make him a tsundere? Vorbuk thought to himself and tried not to laugh. As he kept thinking about it he found the term fit Bredret quite well. The dragon always seemed to act cold towards everyone, but in the end he was always still willing to jump in and help. It was always pushed with the idea of he had no choice because Celeste wanted him to do something, but in the end the dragon would do it without complaint as long as she made the slightest jest for him to get involved in situations. Did that not mean he wanted to get involved to help in the first place? It seemed to Vorbuk that the dragon just looked to his beloved to give him an excuse so others would not realize he actually cared about different things. It was like Celeste could read the dragon so well and would silently be his anchor as if she knew he really wanted to help, but did not have the attitude to do it without making a fuss that he had no choice in the matter.

"I get it now.. His beloved is like a cover for him!" Vorbuk went to burst out laughing, causing him to sound like he was coughing and snorting from his muzzle.
