Kings Meeting

"You want the kingdoms to act against one of the gods? Are you crazy, your majesty?" Slade, King of Pratha Kingdom, was the first one to speak up when he heard Hamelot speak of the kingdoms working together.

In Cadirade's palace, with the help from the god Shides, King Hamelot had managed to gather almost all of the continent's kings that were not under control by Chynir and the Ice Queen, Lyra. They were all gathered in the king's throne room while Hamelot sat upon his throne. Matters involving Chynir were getting worse as time went on.

"Are you saying my suggestion for our kingdoms to work together is crazy?" Hamelot asked in response with a cold smile on his face.

"Your Majesty, how could I dare consider your idea of going against a god as absurd?" Slade retaliated kindly.

"Axania has never broke its vow to the gods to keep ourselves out of mortal affairs. We will not do so now." Slyica, Axania's Queen, bluntly refused to involve the kingdom of dragon with the matters of war.

"Right, cause you dragon folk are the dogs of those gods. Your just afraid of biting the hand that feeds you." Slade laughed sarcastically at his own slander towards the dragon race.

"Say that again and we'll see who's kingdom gets flattened first!" Slyica bellowed a low growl from her throat as she glared at the man who was trying to insult her kind. She disliked humans and their arrogant behavior.

If it had not been for Shides requesting it personally I would have never came here. She thought to herself as she whipped her head in a different direction.

King Hamelot closed his eyes for a moment as he tried to consider his options. Two of the kingdoms before him were nuetral ones. War was not something they involved themselves in. One of the kings was Arthur, the king of Dradel who's palace had been demolished by Chynir personally and the last two were kingdoms that were already allied to work together with him. Though Pratha was in an alliance with his kingdom currently even Slade was worried about his kingdom becoming a victim of Chynir's wrath.

"If your kingdoms do not work together with Cadirade do you really believe without a doubt that you will be spared? Arthur is here today because his palace was already leveled to the ground because the god did so himself." King Hamelot could only put the Kingdom of Dradel in the spotlight.

His actions seemed to work because all the kings before him gave each other glances. Whispers could be heard filling the room as they considered their options together.

"I would take a moment to consider carefully. Those who join together in this upcoming matter will stand a better chance at survival. If the kingdoms remain on their own and refuse to take measures you will only be caught off guard like Arthur was." Hamelot continued while they listened.

"Your Majesty! It's urgent!" One of King Hamelot's knights burst through the door in a hurry.

"What is it? This is a bad time to interrupt for small matters." Hamelot scolded the knight as he came rushing over to the king's throne.

Leaning in closely the knight whispered so that the others would not hear.

"Your Majesty, Cista's capital was just struck earlier today. They say there was even a dragon that got involved." The knight's words were quiet but they could not escape the ears of Queen Sylica of Axania.

Slyica's face distorted at the words of the knight. There was only one dragon she knew of that had a bad habit of breaking the rules of their kind. Everyone in the room became still as they saw a look of anger on her face.

"That idiot." Slyica mumbled under her breath as the face of Bredret came to mind.

Turning to leave the throne room without a word. She did not bid farewell to any of the other kings in the meeting. There was no intention from her to help others when it involved breaking the ancient vow that dragons were to remain loyal to the gods.

"Such a rude lizard." Slade heaved a heavy sigh as if Queen Sylica's attitude had exhausted him.

"Slade," Hamelot said. "this matter is serious.."

"Yes, Your Majesty, Kingdom of Pratha shall always aid Cadirade just as it has us for so long." Slade agreed without a second thought. He did not like the thought of going against a god. However Pratha had been loyal to Cadirade for many generations and he would not break that any time soon because he was worried about his life.

Following Kingdom of Pratha in agreement the other kingdoms fell in line one by one. Some of them were hesitant at first. In the end even Kaepis that was once a neutral kingdom agreed to secretly support Cadirade from the south in the troubles that would lay ahead for everyone. Even if they wanted to reject because the risk seemed high it was even more risky if they had refused cooperation with Cadirade. By cooperating the kings could only feel at ease with the idea that in the end they had their own cards to play to protect themselves if the enemy came for them next.

The kings all left the hall with only one failed to recruit, Axania.

As King Hamelot sat on his throne trying to take in the matters of today he felt as if he had grown old. No. He knew he was already old at his age. Things as they were only made him worry for the future and his sons.

"How did things go?" Chete asked as he walked into the room and stood beside King Hamelot. Not many people were like Chete and would just throw all politeness out when they stood before someone with the rank of a king. As a cambion who had lived his life on the constant run formalities were something that he did not put into mind. His life did not depend on him being formal.

"They all agreed except for Queen Sylica." Hamelot responded to him. He was not certain why his son, Leo, had sent a cambion to protect him. It was something his son had ordered the man to do, however, so he left the matter be.

"The dragons are naturally the hardest to win over for something like this. They are considerably arrogant in their ways I'd say." Chete smirked. "But of course they probably presume the same about humans as well. Not to mention other beings they consider lower then themselves."

Yes.. They are extremely arrogant. Chete thought to himself as he thought of a certain dragon.

"Has word come back about how Curtis is doing on the field under General Edgar?" Hamelot wondered how his other son was doing after being sent away.

"About him.. Things seem to be going fine. I heard he complains a lot about being there." Chete did not know what all to tell the king about his son. Prince Curtis did not leave because he wanted to go to battle against the Ice Queen. The king had forced his son out of the palace for reasons he kept to himself. It was not a mystery to Chete why the king had done it. He had heard the rumors and gossip about Curtis and put his own assumption together.

The king must have figured out his own son is planning to steal the throne from him. Chete thought while smiling innocently.
