Bredret Scolded

[ Title To Recieve: King of Theapan ]

"Doesn't that defeat your purpose to request it when I already planned to do that? I don't need your reminder.." Vorbuk watched the screens appearing before him. Concluding that gods voice agreed with his choice of destination.

The night was dark and everyone had already gone to sleep. Their group was all resting in one room with Zoe. At the clinic there was limited space due to the incline in patients. It was not their place to request a bed to sleep on because it was a place of healing. Patients needed the beds more then they did so they had happily accepted the offer while keeping themselves out of the way of the healers who were working hard for the Kingdom of Cista.

"You'd think after all that you would at least reward me with something.. Do you have any idea how exhausting all this was?" Vorbuk ruffled his hair as he stood outside the clinic in human form. He knew he had to get some rest and regenerate his lost mana. His human form was already reaching its limit on his mana after all the fighting.

"You have nothing to say to me, do you? ... Hah..." He sighed. It felt clear to him that god's voice was not intending to help him this time.

That's fine. I shouldn't become to reliant on that thing to always be useful. Vorbuk thought as he stood there in silence for a while.

"What are you doing outside? Shouldn't the mutt be sleeping?" Bredret asked sarcastically as he came stumbling over to the clinic while downing a bottle of what Vorbuk could only presume to be whiskey.

Vorbuk refused to respond to Bredret. Silently turning his head to continue on with his planning for the future. The last thing he wanted to deal with was Bredret and the smell of alcohol on his clothing as he stood there. To someone with higher sense of smell like Vorbuk the scent was intolerable. It was puzzling to him how Bredret could be so comfortable with it. The dragon must had become adapted to it over the years.

"Hey-" Bredret called out to him as he leaned in closer to Vorbuk and lowered his voice. "If you don't sleep soon and keep using that form you're going to end up collapsing in the street."

Vorbuk flinched as Bredret stepped past him and went inside.

Damn.. How can he tell my mana is almost out so easily with a glance? Vorbuk felt amazed that a dragon could so easily see through his mana.

"Bredret, there is something I want to ask you.." Vorbuk started to talk before the dragon could get all the way inside the door.

Bredret could sense that something troubling to him was going to follow in Vorbuk's words. He was not interested in becoming close with anyone in the group. To the dragon it was nothing but a task to him to help them to a point. It was simply that he wanted to please his beloved Celeste. Making bonds with everyone was not something he desired in the least. Yet from Vorbuk's words he could sense extra work being requested of him.

"No. Whatever it is I want no part of it." Bredret smiled brightly as he bluntly refused to hear Vorbuk's request.

"I didn't even finish my-" Vorbuk felt baffled at the fact that he was cut off from speaking.

"Mutt.. I can tell from your expression that whatever it is you want from me is going to cause me more trouble then it's worth.." Bredret downed more of his drink in the doorway.

"I was only going to ask if you could help teach me more about mana control since your already a high ranked dragon. Your species is naturally talented in mana control, right?" Vorbuk tried to push harder in order to obtain what he wanted. If anyone in the group could help him learn more about controlling his abilities it would be the natural born mana user, the dragon, Bredret.

"No, no, and again hell no!" Bredret refused bluntly again and turned to leave.

I better get the hell out of here before this mutt starts calling me teacher! I can already feel my head aching from the thought of being stuck teaching a damn beast like him.. Bredret thought as he fled.

As Bredret headed inside he could easily track down the room everyone was sleeping inside of. For Bredret tracking others from their natural mana pools was easy work. Combined with his sense of smell it was simple for him to wander the streets of a kingdom and be able to locate anyone he was familiar with if he focused hard enough. There were enough people in a kingdom that he could not do something as simple as automatically notice them but if he calmed his mind and focused to search his surroundings it felt like child's play to him.

Ah.. They are indeed sleeping. Bredret thought as he entered the room and closed the door behind him.

Glancing at the bed where Zoe was fast asleep he could tell their battle had been a rough one. A strange feeling came over him that felt almost foreign. Was it a sense of guilt? Was he worried about her condition? He was not sure of himself.

Before he even realized his own actions he had already stepped over to her bedside and checked on her condition. From a glance he could tell that she was simply over exerted and needed to rest. It was unusual to see her collapse after all the years that he'd known Daryl and Zoe. She had never been much of a talker. However she was still always a kind one that seemed full of life. He'd never witnessed either of them fall ill before him. It was a new feeling to find one of them actually down from exhausting themselves.

"Demi humans are humans after all.. they are both equally weak." Bredret scoffed at the thought of getting hurt so easily.

Pacing himself over to the wall; Bredret sat down with his back against it. He held the bottle in his hand and drank as his eyes never left the sight of Zoe and the others in the room. On his left he had Daryl sleeping silently on the floor. Daryl was sitting up with his arms crossed in front of him. Even in his sleep there was a look of worry expressed on his face.

"You're back?" Daryl asked as his eyes slowly flickered open at the sudden movement beside him.

"You humans are so weak! Go back to sleep before you fools fall ill from lack of sleep." Bredret scolded him.

"Who's fault is it that we over worked this time?" Daryl could not stop himself from scolding him in return. If he had not left their battle would not have been as stressful as it had been on Zoe and the others.

"That-! I-!" Bredret could not find the words to respond to Daryl. He knew he had left them behind to drink. As a dragon nobody had the authority to make demands of him except his own race or the gods above them. After all their time together he also did not expect them to end up in such a poor state. The whole situation caused Bredret's face to faintly flush from embarrassment. Realizing his own state only caused it to become worse.

As a dragon how can I be scolded by a human?! Bredret felt complicated.

Celeste?! He thought desperately for her to give him a look of understanding to his poor situation. Though when he glanced over at her she only gave him a shrug followed by a look that told him she as well felt that what he'd done had been in the wrong.
