Survive The Night (Part 4)

Bredret flew as fast as he could through the sky. The higher he went the colder the air became from the altitude. It was impossible to hide a massive dragon among the night sky. No matter how dark the night was his figure could still be seen.

As the commoners among the Theapan kingdom cast their glances up to the sky they could see a dark form in the shape of a dragon shooting out from the mountains. Its form was so large that it was hard not to see it blocking part of the night sky from shining the starlight down. Bredret's shadow was impressively large.

Among the dragons he was the lord of the sky. A dragon known for his speed when he flew. With his wings beating against the wind his body dove in the direction of the Theapan Temple. The distance was something he could cover quickly without delay. However escaping the God Chynir was something that could not be done easily.

With a wave of his hand Chynir sent the faolan wolves to chase after them from the ground level. Howling and trailing them from below they would counter the group the second they were to land. He did not care if he had to slaughter them inside the temple of Theapan or outside of it. They were starting to disrupt everything Chynir was trying to work towards. They were simply in his way.

The air and wind around Chynir began to fluctuate. A pulsing could be seen in the air around him. Slowly his body began to rise up into the air until he was lifted up above the trees. The dragon was pinned within his eye sight.

Reaching his hand out in front of him as he kept his eyes pinned. A cluster of dark clouds began to cover the sky above. Wind pushed faster and more violently.

So what if the dragon was a ruler among the skies?

Could he take on a god's wrath?

Zzzzpppp! BOOM!

A flash of lightning struck down from above followed by another and then another.. Lightning had began to rain down from above over the mountains from all around. The sounds were deafening to the ears for anyone close enough to hear it.

The mountain's terrain was being shattered apart upon the impacts of the lightning. fogs made purely of dust and dirt covered the mountain range for miles on end. Within the fog that covered it sparks of fire could be seen burning. Rain was pouring so heavily that it seemed to fight against the flames just barely keeping the land from being cast into a huge forest fire.

"He's lost his mind!" Leo shouted while holding onto the back of the dragon. He could feel Bredret's body shuddering in freight. No matter how mighty Bredret was as a dragon; even he had something he feared and it was the gods that stood above them all.

"I would almost rather struggle against the faolan!" Zoe mumbled to herself as she could feel Daryl's body pressing down against hers from behind. Daryl was doing his best to make sure that Zoe did not fall off as they moved.

Ashley was in charge of ensuring the safety of the young tiger and Vorbuk since he was more skilled amongst them. He had an advantage over the others when it came to keeping balance in such situations. Yet even he felt a sense of annoyance at how troublesome the lightning was.

"We can't keep running like this or we will be fried by the lightning sooner or later before we can manage to find a safe place to run." Leo muttered out the words.

"Bredret, we're going to need to face him." Vorbuk said as he knew only the two of them could hear what he said. That was enough for him because he only needed those two to understand him.

"You want me to face a rampaging god?" Bredret scoffed and shuddered at the idea of turning around. He was focused the entire time on safely making it to the temple and landing. However no matter how he struggled in the sky it was unsafe for him to fly any lower now that he was air born. All around them were bolts of lightning devouring the land beneath them and making it impossible to safely go down.

"No, I don't think we need to deal with him for too long." Vorbuk said to the two of them as the dragon twisted its body in the sky around so that Bredret was facing Chynir at his front.

"The gods are against using their power in the mortal realm excessively because the mortal realm can not handle their power. This is a rule amongst the gods. If a god was to go against this rule it might not draw too much hatred... but if one of them went on a rampage and lost their temper like Chynir is starting to do.." Leo thought out loud and it drew in the attention of the others.

"There would be a high probability that at least one of the gods would become enraged at the god who was disrupting the mortal world. Some gods even blend in among the mortals to live like a mortal so they would be more displeased at how their home was being devastated." Johan Lovette said. The others knew that it was true that some gods resided among the mortal realm. Even if gods did not raise families with mortals they still found pleasure in being among the mortals like the Goddess Flora. Some of them found pleasure in aiding the natural order of things and lived in hiding.

"The only question is which god might appear, but one of them is surely to loose their head when they see Chynir displaying such strength at Theapan. We only need to hold out against him." Leo considered the thought again while he spoke and decided it was the only option they had in front of them. Chynir was a god and they could not outrun him. The god was toying with him currently and they could see the fake smile on Chynir's face as if he found dealing with them boring.

"Damn it, why did I ever agree to being dragged into such.." The dragon growled. His growl was so powerful that it sounded as if it was the rumbling of thunder within the dragon's throat.

Chynir could see the dragon flying straight towards him at full speed. Dodging to the left and dodging to the left in swerves as the lightning crashed down from all around. He watched the dragon continuously avoid the strikes. They were correct to assume he was holding himself back. He could not expand all his energy and risk destroying everything and drawing more attention to himself. He did not fear the other gods however he still had his own goals that would become more complicated if the whole kingdom was wiped from existence. No matter how angry he was at the moment he was still cautious in his actions.

The closer the dragon got to him warmth was beginning to fill the air. Fighting off the cold chill from the wind the warmth continued to rise. It only took Chynir a second to realize what they were thinking.

They want to counter attack? How brave.. or ignorant. Chynir clicked his tongue.

Chynir did not move as he watched the dragon's mouth open wide straight towards him. The last image they had of him in their vision was of the god smiling. He was smiling! A wall of flame came bursting forth from the dragon's mouth and barreling straight for him. Their sight of Chynir was completely gone as the scorching heat and blinding light of the flame made it impossible for them to see what happened in front of them as the fire poured out.
