"Hey.. Isn't that Chynir and Iemis?"
"What's going on?"
"Chynir hasn't come back to the god's realm since-"
"Shh! Are you trying to draw attention to yourself? You never know who's listening!"
Some gods whispered amongst themselves when they noticed the arrival of Chynir and Iemis outside the palace.
Boooommmmm!!!
Both of their fists collided sending a wave of wind and force out that shook the land. Even those within the Divine Palace could feel the structures shaking. The grass in the field had instantly become flattened from the force of the wind. The once beautiful flowers looked like mere splattered paint against the ground.
"Do you think I'll listen to you?" Chynir scoffed and jumped back to place some distance between the two of them. Shaking his hand to get rid of the tingle he felt from Iemis's punch.
Sparks of lightning began to cover Chynir's body. Shifting his stance in order to rush the man. A light flickered in Iemis's eyes as he did not avoid the incoming attack.
Waving his hand in front of him a pure white light shielded Iemis from the impact. He could feel the pressure of Chynir's fist and lightning brutally slamming against the barrier.
"If I thought such a thing about you why would I have brought you back here?" Iemis retorted the question back at him.
Lifting his hand to the side a sword slowly began to take shape in his grasp. It was clear at first and solidified until it was complete. The sword was white and silver with delicate golden markings carved into it.
Creation. Among the gods Iemis was the only one with the innate ability to create things from mana in the air. Whether it be solid creations or living. The only setback to his creation ability was that it came with a price. He was incapable of killing.
Iemis could create things but was unable to end them with his own hands. Every action he took had to be taken with careful consideration. If he made something he was unable to control it would be a mistake he'd be unable to personally correct. Nobody knew the extent his ability was capable of reaching but all the gods were careful about Iemis's abilities.
Chynir used his mana to wrap a bolt of lightning around his black mana creating his own sword. It was pitch black. Sparks from the lightning electrifying the air surrounding the sword and Chynir's arm.
CLANG!
Their weapons collided as sparks of lightning scattered in the air. Every time a spark landed on the ground an explosion could be seen. Those who were spectating from the Divine Palace could hear the explosions from the lightning as they fought. It was like watching colorful grenades every time the two swords clashed with each other.
His foot slammed into Chynir's gut sending him flying backwards. Tumbling across the ground like a crashing meteor. A sharp pain was in Chynir's body from the kick but he regained his footing as if he was unaffected.
"Filthy tricks!" With a wave of his sword Chynir sent out a bolt of lightning straight towards where Iemis was standing.
The bolt of lightning missed as Iemis teleported out of the way.
Reappearing in front of Chynir with his sword pointed at him. Iemis gazed at him with those colorless eyes.
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
They clashed weapons again as Chynir could see a feint sign of exhaustion on Iemis's face. It was something unseen when it came to the eldest god. The man did not know what exhaustion was.
"Don't get distracted." Iemis spoke as if he was trying to derail Chynir from realizing something was wrong with him.
"Who's distracted?!" Chynir shouted angrily as he swung his sword. Pressure erupting from his body like a mad beast. The pressure was dark and collided with Iemis as his own struggled against it.
Iemis felt he should not drag on the fight for long. A sense of worry was washing over him as he knew others in the Divine Palace were observing the fight between him and Chynir as well.
The light in his eyes flickered as a bright golden light escaped the blade of Iemis's white sword. Light from the sword began to slowly eat away at the dark sword's black aura. A panicked look on Chynir's face could be seen as he felt his sword weakening against the light mana that Iemis was releasing.
"There is always light to brighten the darkness." Iemis muttered as he poured out light mana into his weapon.
"I wont give in like this!" Chynir refused to give in to someone like Iemis.
"You have no choice in this outcome." Iemis swung his sword against Chynir's blade.
The black sword shattered in half before dissipating into the air like a fog had been lifted. The only thing left was the lightning pulsing around Chynir's body as he stood there in a stupor. He could not accept the reality in front of him. There was no doubt that he knew he could not stand against Iemis if the man went all out against him. But the fact that his sword had been shattered by Iemis was still enough to make him furious at the outcome regardless.
Iemis rushed towards Chynir and grabbed him by his face. A heavy weight pressing against Chynir's chest as his body slammed backwards into the ground. His body smashed flat against the ground on his back. Between the open spaces of Iemis's fingers he could see the god's colorless eyes sending chills down his spine.
"You can't kill me." Chynir laughed weakly up at Iemis.
"Let's see if that matters when I'm done with you," Iemis had a complicated expression on his face. "When I'm done with you I will toss you back to the mortal realm where you so desperately wish to be."
"Hah," Chynir sighed heavily. "Punish me all you want.. But do you think you can hide it forever?"
"Hm?" Iemis paused as he felt Chynir leaning up towards him.His grasp never releasing the man but allowing him to come slightly closer.
"You're growing weaker," Chynir whispered. "why is that happening? Do you really think I'm the only god who would try to overthrow you if they find out the truth?"
Even among gods there were ones who thrived for power. Chynir was not the only god with ambitions. He did not wish to rule the god's realm so Chynir had no interest in revolting against the eldest god. All gods followed the rules of the eldest because they were afraid to anger him.
Chynir was not a fool when he caught a glimpse of Iemis showing signs of fatigue in their scuffle. Iemis wanted to quickly end the fight because he could not hold out for a long period. He could not afford to show off in front of the other gods in the Divine Palace. It was not certain to Chynir who the other insider among the gods was but he was certain there was one.
"The Divine Palace in the gods realm is peaceful for now," Chynir gave up and collapsed on his back as he spoke further. "but how much longer can you hold the peace between the gods before the real traitor decides to revolt?"
"You don't know that it will happen. Nobody knows the truth about what happened back then." Iemis spoke. It was true that in the past things had been complicated. During the original war among the mortal realm speculations had been made. Without proof nobody could prove whether or not the case of the missing half-god child had something to do with another god. They had no idea who the culprit was whether it was mortal or god.
"I don't need proof. I know what my instincts tell me about those days." Chynir grit his teeth.
"Invalid." Iemis had nothing to say. He was not in a position that he could just take the words of Chynir's mere guess. As the eldest he had a duty to watch over all beings of life. At the moment the only thing he could do was scold Chynir and release him.
