Prince Leo Waits

Prince Leo could not find any sign of Vorbuk returning to the temple as he stared out into the distance from atop the temple's wall. Worried about the three of them leaving the temple he had not left the wall since they'd left. Behind him he could hear footsteps coming towards him. The heavy steps were followed by the sound of someone sighing heavily. Scent of liquor wafted through the air and he knew who it was without turning his head.

"I don't think they'll be coming back tonight," Bredret walked up behind Prince Leo as he came out of the temple for some fresh air and found the prince still lingering on the wall. "You should get some rest because it will probably be morning before they make it back."

"They've already been gone for the whole day.." Prince Leo grit his teeth together and glanced back at Bredret. "Shouldn't you be watching over that vampire with Ashley?"

"He's already calmed down a lot and Ashley can handle in since he's marked by the mutt now." Bredret stated bluntly his disinterest in baby sitting Aoki.

Prince Leo glared at him for not taking things seriously. "If something happens-"

"Nothing will happen," Bredret chugged down a drink his drink in his hand that he'd been holding since he came outside causing the prince to flinch at the sight. "even if something did happen it'd be easy to deal with him."

"We're looking for a reason to not deal with him right now and you're talking like you want a reason to do it." Prince Leo spoke as he tried to understand Bredret's intentions for coming out to him.

"... Is that so?" Bredret looked as if he was thinking deeply about something.

The prince couldn't help himself as he began to speak, "Are you sure you should keep going on like you are? I know I don't have the right to say thing to you probably but have you thought about how upset she would be if she saw you like you are right now?"

"You're right," Bredret's voice held a sudden chill behind it as he spoke. His expression had darkened as he heard the prince talk about his beloved Celeste. "you have no right to talk about her as if you know what she would be feeling."

There was a pounding in Bredret's chest as he thought of her. It was impossible to deny what the prince had said because he knew that Celeste would be worried about him. A sense of guilt flooded his mind as he thought about how much he knew it would be true. His pride would not let him admit the fact that he knew what Leo said was true.

Bredret flinched as a strange emotion came over him as he stood there in thought. He felt saddened and yet the emotion was not his own. It was as if he was feeling a secondary emotion that did not belong to him.

"Bredret?" Prince Leo looked at the dragon as Bredret stilled from the sudden feeling he was getting.

"... What?" Bredret asked as he came back to his senses. He could still feel that strange emotion. Ignoring it he gave his focus to the prince in front of him.

"Did something happen?" Prince Leo asked him seriously. There was no way Leo would not notice the falter in the dragon's actions. It was like Bredret was startled by something and that was not a look that Bredret had very often. Not many things could startle a proud dragon.

"What do you mean?" Bredret asked while trying to avoid the topic. He did not want to explain his state of mind. There were many things he did not understand about his own condition. It was troublesome to explain it to the prince and he felt that it wasn't something dangerous. Without a reason for the prince to worry he chose to avoid the subject completely.

"... Nevermind." Prince Leo sighed as he allowed Bredret to avoid answering him. If the dragon did not want to talk about it there was no way he could force him to talk. Who in their right mind would force a dragon to talk?

Not waiting around to hear more from the prince; Bredret turned around and started to leave. If the prince wanted to waste his energy waiting at the temple wall all night long he would not stop him. Entering the temple he made his way for the pope's room. Pausing along the way to lean against the wall of the temple when nobody was around to see him.

Silence filled the area as the only sound that could be heard was his own muffled cry as he slid down the wall. With his face in one hand and the liquor in the other he sat on the floor against the wall, quietly choking up with his hand covering his mouth.

"Cel..este.." Bredret muttered between silent cries. His own sadness was taking over him but he could still feel the secondary emotion. It was sad also as if to echo his own pain even more loudly in the back of his mind. What's wrong with me? Celeste, what am I suppose to do now?

Gripping the liquor tighter he threw the bottle across the hallway. Shattering against the temple's wall the liquor painted the wall red as glass scattered everywhere. If the pope had known that one of his own bottles had been wasted by Bredret he might have thrown a fit. The bottle had been a rare find that the pope had collected over the years. In fact if someone had seen Bredret throw the bottle they probably would have panicked. Bredret was never one known to waste a drink in his hand.

"Hah.." Exhaling deeply into the palm of his hand the dragon pondered. "Whether it is this life or the next you will always be the only beloved this proud dragon has."

Ba-Dump! Ba-Dump! Ba-Dump!

The dragon's heart pounded hard in his chest as he felt overwhelmed with a sense of emotions. Those emotions overwhelmed him causing his hand to grasp onto his chest. It was like a storm of sadness, grief, and love. Yes, Bredret could feel the sensation of love coming from somewhere deep within himself. The feeling was echoing against his own emotions causing his heart to pound. It was like a war drum had gone off in his chest as he felt a sense of warmth.

I should get back soon before Ashley comes to look for me. Bredret thought as he thought about standing up but his body did not move. He lacked the motivation to get back on his feet. Inside he felt at peace because of the echo he felt lingering within himself. Yet his mind was so heavy that it felt like standing back up was no different from climbing a mountain.

Chete... Chynir... They were both the cause of what happened to Celeste. As their names echoed in the back of his mind a feeling of hatred started to fill him. He detested them both for everything. I will make sure they both pay for what happened to you.

"I'd do anything if I could just see you again," Bredret ran his hand back through his hair against his horns. "even though you aren't here anymore I still have the habit of talking to you as if I will response."
