Achille stood in the elevator waiting to reach the room of a fellow member of the 'Five Star Points'. Achille had already spent nearly 6 hours in her personal transport ship to get to here and the slow elevator ride was just adding to the unnecessary steps required to reach the one who people liked to call 'The fortune teller'.
Their name was actually Charlie and their ability was quite amazing. Connecting with the omni-network in the way she did allowed her to partially fuse with other people who were also connected to the network to read minds. And thanks to the boost in the network she could now partially fuse across universes as see the future, past, and alternate timelines. Of course it had it's draw backs of Charlie only being able to use her ability once every year. And even then it took days of meditation afterwards to regain usage of her brain for things like speaking and moving.
The elevator finally stopped at a hallway decorated with a fluffy, rose-coloured carpet, pale-blue walls, and the most expensive art from every planet conquered. Much like Achille, Charlie liked to collect things from the planets she invaded and destroyed. Although most of the paintings and sculptures were ultimately worthless since the only people who found value in this were either dead or enslaved, they still found a place in her heart.
Achille knocked on the first door on the left and a voice from inside called:
"Enter Achille!" Achille did as she was told and entered the room. Contrasting completely to the hallway outside, the room was entirely black. The walls, the floor, the ceiling, and the door were all painted pitch black. This was due to another draw back of Charlie using her ability where her brain goes into 'overclock-mode' after deactivating her ability which is why it looses so much usage.
Sat cross-legged in the middle of the room was Charlie. Her hair was a very light blonde but cut very short with a single strip of her head bare where a white scar sat contrasting her skin greatly. She stood up and turned to look at Achille who positioned her head downwards to avoid looking at Charlie's bare body. It was normal of her to meditate in such a way as she claimed is prevented any interference with her connection to the network. Achille took off her cloak and tossed it over Charlie who reluctantly wrapped around her body and tied it off. Charlie moved to the opposite side of the room and pushed a hidden tile in. There was a click and the tile opened up like a draw revealing hundreds of small pieces of card. She searched for a bit before taking out two pieces and handed them to Achille.
"There, you've got your future. Now get out." ordered Charlie. Achille went to protest the abrupt departure wishing to catch up a little but Charlie dropped the cloak down to her feet and kicked it up over Achille's head. Achille reattached the cloak and made her leave going back into the elevator.
In the ship after starting her many-houred journey Achille sat down and began to read what it said on the pieces of card. The first one read 'A great calamity will bring about your demise'. Achille scoffed. This was the third one Charlie had given her yet it never seemed to happen. It was possible it was in the far future or in an alternate timeline. Either way she had nothing to worry about.
It was the second one that got Achille's attention. It read 'Someone you care for has betrayed you and hidden something for you.' As much as Achille doubted there was someone she cared for, she couldn't help but wonder who had betrayed her. But one name bubbled up to the surface causing her slam her fist onto her leg.
