Shadow finally came back to herself, taking one last sweep over the room before turning her eyes to Yin Peng. "Oh my god, what a glorious looking shag pad! I can't believe this can exist!"
Yin Peng avoided her gaze, not wanting to respond. He had thought it was something like this after he felt the bed, but wasn't so sure. After all, he couldn't even remember the last time he was home, much less in a bed like that.
Shadow wasn't breaking her gaze, so he had to say something. He coughed. "Well this isn't what we should be concerned with right now."
As if to prove this point, someone rammed into the front door, making a huge amount of noise. Shadow jumped, and quickly nodded her head. "We should scout out the rest of this place."
"Agreed." Shadow went through a door on the left, while Yin Peng went through a door on the right, the only two doors in the bedroom.
Stepping into her room, Shadow encountered what looked somewhat like a lounge. It had an ancient television, a couch, and what seemed to be a fridge, she couldn't quite tell. If Yin Peng had been through here, he would've recognised these as items from his world.
On the other hand, Yin Peng had less luck. He peered through the doorway and discovered what looked like a futuristic bathroom to him. He looked at the toilet like it was a demon. 'How the hell do you use that thing?!!' The only reason he could even tell it was a bathroom was the huge tub in the middle, which gave off quite a majestic look, for a bathtub anyway. Lulu just jumped in, seeming to like it.
The house above them started getting ransacked. Yin Peng quickly stumbled back into the bedroom to find Shadow already there, gazing solemnly at the passage to the house. "We might not be able to get out of this one," she said.
Yelling sounds came from above, they had found the stockpile on the second floor. 'Think you stupid shit,' Yin Peng thought. 'What can we do? Are they going to catch just like this? No!'
Lulu meowed at him again. "What Lulu," he whispered. She pawed he ak he had brought down before pawing some random parts that seemed really out of place here.
'Wait! I can make a turret!' Yin Peng's thinking came through at a crucial moment. He quickly got to work, assembling the turret as quickly as possible while Lulu and Shadow watched on. "Done!" He put the turret at the bottom of the stairs, far enough away to not get hit, but close enough to see anyone.
"Nice!" Shadow praised him, a little surprised he was able to come up with such a decision at this critical moment. 'You actually might not be useless.'
Time slowly passed, and the unknown enemies still hadn't found them, but it wouldn't be long before it happened. Sweat trickled down Yin Peng's spine, He might've been ok at shooting, but his stamina was one of his weak points, and he had been sitting in the same spot for three hours, his eyes trained on the passage.
"Need me to take over?" Shadow didn't really offer out of pity, more like because she didn't believe in his aim. However Yin Peng was adamant about manning his turret, and she couldn't make a fuss with the people upstairs. Three hours passed, and she now finally said something.
"No, it's fine." Yin Peng really didn't trust her, and for pretty good reason. The sounds of people searching the house passed by yet again, and he tensed, ready to fire at any moment. Then the sounds faded, and he breathed out a little, another false alarm.
Suddenly they heard a gruff voice yell, "Check all of the cabinets again!" Shadow paled, and Yin Oeng got ready to fire. The sounds of all of the cabinets squeaking yet again really unnerved him, much less Lulu, who hated the sound.
Then, of course, the inevitable happened. They heard a close a squeak, and a soldier dressed in a heavy uniform appeared in the passageway. Yin Peng was about to fire, as he had just seen them and was going to yell, but Lulu beat him to it.
Lulu bared her fangs, and an icicle appeared in the air. Everyone was shocked, and the icicle flew and pierced the soldier's throat. He was unable to speak, yet his eyes showed endless hatred. Shadow caught him and silently laid him down.
"We don't have much time," she whispered. "They'll find out he's missing soon."
Yin Peng nodded. "We need to get out of here, was there any more doors in your room?"
"I don't think so, but there may be."
"Okay then, let's go check, we must hurry." They shuffled toward the lounge room as quietly as possible, Lulu taking up the rear for protection. Entering the room Yin Peng was shocked, this was a room straight out of his world! From the T.V. to the couch, everything looked so familiar! Quickly clearing his head, he spotted a metal door, clearly an exit.
Shadow grabbed his shoulder and pulled him towards the door. "Let's go!" He followed closely and quickly, as shouting and yelling had already flooded the other rooms. They tried to open the door, but it wouldn't budge.
"There's a passcode!" Yin Peng had spotted a digital key lock on the door's side. "WE need to figure out the password!"
"How?" Shadow was confused, she had never seen this before, so how had he?
"We need to find the number combo!" Yin Peng started with 1234.
"Oh wow."
"This is no time for that, let's go!" Shadow pulled him through the door and shut it, noting the automatic lock. "Come on, we need to get out of here!"
No Response.
"Yin Peng?" Shadow called out.
Still No response.
Shadow turned around, planning to berate Yin Peng for not talking to her, but abruply froze.
